The last time that I was cross with one of our players to the point of openly criticising him was Ryan Austin away against Gillingham when his second yellow card was due to arguing with the ref. Robbie Weir's second was equally as uncalled for to the point of stupidity from a professional sportsman. It was not a case of taking one for the team, there was little danger and it was so soon after the first yellow that the ref , who was not card happy, was obviously going to send him off. Whereas Robbie is hardly Guy Branstonesque (hope that makes sense) in his disciplinary record, he is just lately more often suspended than playing….not good We could have lost the game, but strangely enough today was another instance when a set back galvanised the team to a good performance. I suppose that shows team spirit so we take the three points and the positives and move on… I agree wrt Robbie, and I think his first caution was daft as well. Little danger in our half. Whatever Nigel said at halftime worked, We did galvanise and take the game to them. Not trying to be negative but we are not playing with the same calmness and confidence over the past two games. A bit too much hoof ball in the first half today when we usually dominate the first 20 mins or so. They were a taller side though and hard to beat in the air. but hey, 3 more points, TOTT with a game in hand, and we closed the GD with Walsall by 4. Happy days.

I think Robbie's first challenge was absolutely essential and I believe he also knew he was never going to get there in time. It was a fast break from Blackpool and the ball had been given away by someone letting their player scamper through. If you let players do that without the challenge you get punished, not every time but enough, IMHO, to realise he had to make the play/foul. The second one was daft, but I also assert that if that had been the first tackle of the game, or if it had happened in front of the Popside, he would not have received a yellow card.
Finally whilst I don't want to condone deftness, Robbie has been outstanding this season so he gets a bit if sympathy and time to get over his foot injury from me and probably a fine as well.

"Absolutely essential"? Why? It was in our half, or on the line at best. We had 4 defenders and a keeper to deal with it. I have no idea what he knew, but I still think it was a daft challenge. Your point about his second foul and subsequent card is pure subjective speculation so difficult to comment on. Agree with the final statement.

Most players were waving at the end? I'd be shocked if any of our players left to go to QPR. Top of league one or free fall in the championship? Its a no brainer 2 and a 1/2 year contract at QPR on £20k per week or an 18 month deal at Burton on £1k per week. Let me think. Tough call re: the possible contract options. I'm glad I don't have to make a decision on something like that.

In case you aren't - there simply is no decision to make These guys have young families or will do soon enough and if ever figures like that above were offered to them they have no choice but to leave us Forget about the football but this time next year they could have a career ending injury Our players aren't in a position to turn down life changing contracts

Someone (don't know who) in an attacking position had made a mistake and they were on a fast break. If Robbie lets him go unchallenged the guy will be bearing down on the penalty area at pace with options both sides. That situation can easily lead to a goal. Your defensive midfielder has to try to stop that, he has done that all season. For me it was a clear 'one for the team'. The comments on his second yellow are also an opinion and on a discussion forum that is what you do, express an opinion and agree or disagree with others.

It is just a matter of opinion but even at the time I thought that it was too early in the move - the event took place almost on the half way line- for it to be taking one for the team for me. I just wonder if what was said to the ref earlier during the first booking might have had an influence on the second booking. There were a few other as effective but granted not quite as dramatic, interception tackles from both teams which went unnoticed and were certainly nearer the goal than that one.

I see that point, there of course was no guarantee that the Blackpool player would have gone on to score or create and it was a long way away, it did seem to be opening up though. But, I guarantee there would have been howls of abuse if Robbie had not gone for the challenge and let him run past him unchallenged.

I did not see the "hoof ball" in the first half that Peacock keeps on about. We started off very poorly due to far too many misplaced passes often by Robbie I might add. Then we began to settle as a team, and I though started to play quite well, including Robbie, until he had his brain storm, when he played the man totally unnecessarily for the second incident inside 3 minuted. The second half though we were magnificent, and unlucky to only win by 1 goal

Not sure it has been mentioned on here but do people realise that Robbie now has a two game ban as that was his second red card of the season so will miss Coventry and Shrewsbury?

I said it once But at least twenty people within earshot at the game were all saying "keep it on the floor" or "play Jimmy ball". We can't all be wrong surely. I also saw a couple of misplaced passes by Robbie, but never "far too many". There were too many passes in the first half going out their end for goal kicks because our players couldn't get to them.

Ah yes - you're right. I think Coventry is the biggest worry though as that'll be a very hard game. Shrewsbury are doable (7-1 yesterday should damage their confidence haha)

Don't wish to be pedantic Peacock, but you said "hoof ball" in two separate posts. That is a repitition I think. However I know we all agree on the superb quality in the second half. That is the football we love to see our team playing.

If playing 'the Jimmy way' includes the way we played against Millwall in the first half... Play the way Burton play, honest, full of endeavour and positively.

A lot of our fans seem to have caught 'Mancityitus' being the condition where great success brings excessive and unwarranted criticism. A lot of fans won't realise what we have now until it's gone! Granted, I've only been a fan since we lost to Fleetwood at Wembley (my first game).
A fan behind me was berating NEK every time he got the ball. And was wanting him off at half time. This man is clearly a plonker, but I can see why people get frustrated.
