NIGEL Clough expects to talk to Blackpool about goalkeeper Dean Lyness's future. Burton Albion today host the Bloomfield Road club, where Lyness has spent the last month-and-a-half on loan. The 24-year-old has made seven appearances for the Seasiders but is ineligible for today's game (3pm kick off). Lyness has earned huge plaudits for his performances in Blackpool's recent run of three successive wins over Wigan Athletic, Fleetwood Town and Peterborough United. Should Matthews opt to return to Norwich rather than extend his own deal, that could pave the way for Lyness to return to Albion though, like Matthews, he would find it extremely difficult to displace McLaughlin in his current form. "Dean can't play today – we'll have a chat with Blackpool about him and we think he's done well," said Brewers boss Clough. Bloody superb performance! Robbie what were you thinking? Very silly especially the second offence. Back to the performance. No complaints second half. Blackpool were completely overwhelmed by our constant attacking and were forced into making silly errors. I thought they might find a way back in (Blackpool) but we held them off.
It's a shame both Tom and Lucas couldn't bury their shots late on.
Well done Brewers that was another performance of champions!,,,!
One happy porky

Someone remind me who had the 10 men in that second half...
Lacklustre first half where everyone looked like they'd enjoyed New Years Eve a bit too much. Another stunning save from McLaughlin and Weir's sending off were the only two memorable moments. One half time constructive rollocking later and we came out like a team possessed! Akins, who I thought had a poor first half, improved dramatically in the 2nd and did really well. As for Beavon...well, what can you say about him that hasn't already been said? Man of the match for me. Again he worked his arse off for the goal which Duffy superbly finished.
They earned that win. Bloody brilliant stuff.

Better with 10, nuff said. And Timmy could have spilled a little sauce at the end.

Can we start to dream yet? Just looked on statto and if last season is a yardstick we only need another 18 points to get in the play-offs.
And after Coventry away next up, we will have played away the four teams directly below us.
Come om you Brewers, i for one am going to start the dream
Oh by the way what a fantastic second half today.Dont know what plan Nigel came up with at half time but long may this all out attack continue, certainly beats trying to hold on for clean sheets etc which seems to have been the main gripe Sheff Utd fans had while he was there

Brewers on fbook are suggesting that nassa was waving goodbye at the end? Very interesting and I wouldn't be surprised if jimmy took him

^^^^.So was Moose, I don't think there was anything in that.
Let's not forget another superb save from Jon McLaughlin first half kept us level. Still can't get my head around why Blackpool didn't press more second half, they seemed at first content with a point. We really turned the screw on them second half though.

Excellent performance after going down to 10 men, 1st booking was fair enough Robbie took one for the team but the second was stupid. Second half was amazing and we could quite easily have scored 2 or 3 more, its amazing how far the Brewers have come beating the likes of Blackpool quite comfortably with only 10 men for 50 or so minutes, M O M went to Duffy but quite easily could have gone to Beavon, Akins, McLaughlin or Naylor for his second half display. A mention has to go to Doyle there keeper who was quite clearly still injured, without him the score could have been far greater. "WHAT A PERFORMANCE". Well done to all, I am proud to say that tonight, WE ARE TOP OF THE LEAGUE. COYB

I think you answered your own point Bennyboy. Blackpool could not press us second half because we didn't let them. As you say we turned the screw and didn't let them play. Duffy dropped a little deeper to make up the numbers in midfield and we just flew at them after the break. The first time I noticed them seriously in our half, after the break, was 73 minutes.
With ten men we battered them and it could have been more but for their keeper who I thought was excellent. (Apart from the time wasting at 0-0)

Great point re: keeper swaddy, he took a fair bit of stick re: the whole Lyness thing with very good grace too, fair play to him. Both keepers outstanding today.
