If clough has contractual obligations to Bein sports on a Saturday (matchday) he should not have even been considered to manage our club, totally unbelievable. Froggy, I am guessing now that your post was ironic, please use an ironic smiley to indicate such in future Your assumptions are your Windows on the world. Scrub them off once in a while, or the light won't come in !

Brilliant result. Just superb. Dead happy for everyone who went down there. Shame I couldn't make it but unfortunately I was too busy trawling through my Emerson, Lake and Palmer collection. Traitor.

Let's hope all goes well tomorrow, but I would have rather have lost without Clough in place than lose when he can't make it. It feels to me (and I couldn't be more pleased to have him back) that we're starting half-c o c k with a danger that Crosby and Garner get it in the neck. It's good for the soul to admit you're wrong. I was massively wrong - great team spirit today. COYB. Funky's calmness entirely justified.

That will go down as a massive result whatever way you look at it.
I think many of us were hoping for a decent result but secretly harbouring doubts as to whether it would happen in reality.
Well that was reality and I rather liked it...more of the same please Nigel and team!

Great to see Akins on scoresheet today... there was a comment earlier re: Nass not being happy at substitution - any concerns that he won't 'fit' with new regime?

Right, I got the mess cleaned up finally. Sheesh, it was all over the place!
And back on the ground. The players have to get all the credit for today. they obviously like the 4-3-3 formation, Jimmy played that vs Peterborough and Millwall and the new management team stuck with it. Like Nigel said, there is no need to, and I have no plans to, change anything, ...so good for him. The commentators said on radio that we were attacking in packs and were all over them even before they had a man sent off. Tbf in the second half at 0-1 they subbed defenders off for attack minded players, they went for a point (or more) and it didn't work because WE ARE TOP OF THE LEAGUE.!! That may also have squeezed the ketchup bottle for us a bit.
Come on you blades tomorrow.

A brilliant well deserved victory today.
I must admit that I thought we would do well to get a point today but we seemed in control and the better side even before the sending off. Some good goals and at last we seem to be getting more of our shots on target which always give you a chance.
A good start for Cloughie and the team. I always thought that his appointment was a no-brainer. If we are serious about getting promotion this year then we needed someone with experience who wouldn't make too many changes. Nigel knows the club and knows what is needed. He can take this club to the Championship and I hope that he does.

I agree with the Keith Gilroy analogy, Jamie Murphy, never heard of him…

Agree, I was going to post that article. I think it was more down to Nasser having missed a few days of training (he went home on a scheduled break) so was subbed at 65 mins. It's good that he was upset at being subbed, goal-hungry. And he may also want to continue to show Jimmy what he has.

Wow managed to get to only my second albion match as I live down south
Fantastic result, Duffy was out of this world, him and Beavon were outstanding and so was the rest of the team, we tore them apart, so dominant. Nasser unfortunately for me was a little lazy and greedy, I think the management were waiting for him to come up with a bit of magic and were prepared to forgive the rest, but time and time again he kept making the wrong decision, we could of had three more if he had made the right pass instead of trying to skin three at the same time so the substitution came at the right time for me and no he didn’t look happy, also went straight down the tunnel final whistle without congratulating the rest of the team, not impressed. As i was walking back to the car I was catching conversations from the Gills fans and was hearing a lot of “They were a good side”, in fact on their forum they think the same albeit some also think we are divers and cheats. What I saw a few times were seasoned pros using their experience to draw a foul, clever, not cheating and definitely no diving, but seems we are getting a bit of a reputation. We are definitely the side to beat at the moment, they really don’t like it up em do they, Love it
VERY PROUD BREWER

The Gillingham forum link is.. fansonline.net/gillingham/mb/ But here are my random thoughts. Having decide to go at the last minute because it is such a bad journey I wasn't surprised when we got to the ground ten minutes into the game because of an accident on the M1 and contrary to rumours we were still located on the open stand which is open to the elements and feels decidedly unstable in the wind (or indeed even in calm weather). Okay it didn't actually rain but it is a disgrace that away fans are subjected to such basic accommodation and for so many years. For anyone who hasn't gone, the stand is akin to a temporary job erected by the greens for major golf tournament such as the Ryder cup. We were told that if it rained we could move to another part of the ground. So why not do this in the first place? Having said that the stewards were friendly and helpful today which is always a bonus. A big thanks to the two who got me a programme at half time. But as we came away with three points for the first time ever and indeed ended the game with eleven players on the pitch then all of the above was forgotten. I have just heard that the Gills were unbeaten in 13 before today and looking at the table tonight the would have been equal with the Brewers if they had won the match on 41 points . But it was a thoroughly deserved win made sweeter by the evident frustration of the baying 7,000 Gills fans who got more frustrated with Mr Woolmer as the game went on. Apart from the talented no 14 Samuel, and a nippy winger the Gills relied more and more on the lofted ball which swirled in the air mixing with rather a lot of litter which during some parts of the match was very entertaining as carriers bags made their way across the pick at carrying heights (including up and over the stands) so that at distance it was on the odd occasion and with my eyesight difficult to tell what was carrier bag and what was the ball. Have to say this was quite entertaining , so much so that when one was blown up to where we were sitting the cry went round to catch it as it was worth 5p! Yep you've got the idea the brewers fans were relatively relaxed and jovial and although it didn't appear the it was due to us being one man up but more from the fact that actually we for once were confident that we were in charge. It was also an absolute delight that after being named MOTM at 0-1 down, that their GK proceeded to let in two goals in quick succession, including Atkins' delightful nutmeg. May I point out that it was one of our group who thought of the chant," Man of the Match?, Man of the Match, you must be joking, Man of the Match…" had to feel a trifle sorry for him. Almost. Oh one last comment, the third goal came when a to the far corner pass towards the end of the game- you know the one so beloved of Cloughie was perfectly executed and taken to the corner by Theile who then decided to cross it leading to the goal. Don't know if Cloughie would have approved….. … if he had been there.

Given that Nasser didn't seem to like some words from Robbie Weir (entirely justified if it was a rollocking) and had to be escorted away by Moose, I suspect we may have an issue. Whilst no player likes to be substituted early, Nasser really didn't seem to be too impressed. I think I know a manager who doesn't like that kind of stuff. However it's a minor issue compared to the togetherness of the rest of the players and staff. What a brilliant start for the new regime. Whilst Nigel often tells it like it is, he was also smart enough to praise the fitness and desire of the players earlier in the week. The response was superb. 'Non-league Nigel does wonders with tinpot pub team' - I'm starting to see the headline on the BBC.

If Nasser has a bad attitude in any way cash in on him
Even at this level he is very hot and cold
At a bigger club he won't get shown the patience that he gets shown here
He's not good enough to hold down a place at QPR IMO if that's in his or JFH's thoughts
But we might get a good amount of money for him
If he wants to stay then we need a good attitude
This is a win/win situation- if he stays it's good
If he goes cash in and it's good

Thanks for the shoutout TM, and, Yes, I am a happy bunny tonight. I was one of those who last night felt one point would be a wonderful result. To take three is like having a private word with Santa - - I see that one of our new members has confirmed a new "phrase" for the Burton Boys to sing at games from here on - - - Just need a few more "loving" words to go with this "shout" - - -
