When was the last time the clubs accounts were published out of interest? Seems a while since I've seen our profits? 31/05/2015 Year end will be published soon I'm sure - February at the latest.
Surprised how low our income must be as we only produce abbreviated accounts!

Yes I took a look - last year we showed accounts middle of November so we must have some coming soon
90k ish profit last year 100k ish year before
The next ones include promotion but profits won't necessarily have gone up
Still shows what impact even 50k compensation could have on profits

I am just delighted with this news. A tough 'ask' for Nigel but I hope it will bring more stability to the club, so we are not looking for a new manager, every 12-24 months.

I too welcome Nigel back and as was alluded to earlier it will be quite poetic if he did manage to see us through to promotion, finishing the job after off, so to speak! I was under the impression that Nigel's 'backroom staff' were employed by himself personally and did not have contracts with DCFC & SUFC, could be wrong. Hope we keep our current remaining backroon staff though.

But can bring us stability and finish the job he started in 1998.

Every person/manager has an ego that wants to be seen as having been an influence so yes he will tinker with the lineup, as Jimmy did, but I wouldn't expect anything drastic. But, things could change in January. - Jimmy has always said Nasser could play at the championship level - it was reported the other day that the 3 Albion players he sees potential in are Nasser, Palmer and Binnom-Williams - Robbie hasn't signed a new contract yet, so he could go in January, whether it's to QPR ?? - it will interesting to see how Nigel handles the Heinz Thiele and AJ striker situation. - we could sign some new players in January depending on finances re: the compensation from QPR. Jimmy signed a monthly rolling contact (assume that was still in place) and that means if a club takes him they only have to pay one years salary, rumoured to be in the £40-50K range). They could pay more as part of the negotiations though. Jimmy signed the same type of contract at QPR (in principle, it probably hasn't been signed yet. he didn't sign here until January I think). Peacock I thought jimmy signed for 2years plus the rest of the season he came which means he should have about 19 months left. As for £40-£50k thinks that's way low. Had it on good authority Rowett was on £70-£75k before he left so let's say Jimmy accepted the same plus surely a rise for promotion,I think nearer £100k would be closer. You only have to think what Beavon et al must be on because he must have been on a lump at Preston, as well as other signings since promotion braindead, Jimmy signed Nov 13th,2014 for 2.5 years (30 months), he was here roughly 13 months so he would have roughly 17 months remaining. The contract was a rolling contract which includes compensation of one years salary. If someone took him they owe BAFC one year salary, if BAFC sacked him they would owe him one year salary. But that is all irrelevant at this point because Ben gave him his blessing to talk to QPR, 'virtually' voiding the contract except for compensation. It was reported and subsequently discussed on several forums over the past year that his salary was in the area of £40K. Not sure if that qualifies for 'good authority' or not.

I've seen the payroll of a premier league football club and can tell you reported salaries are vastly different to actuals... As much as +/- 50%

One for Norah to ponder. I vaguely remember her post about the stages of mourning following Nigel's departure. How does the return of the prodigal son fit in I wonder?

It may not turn out to be the best thing for club or Nigel (they say "never go back"), but I don't care at the moment. Absolutely overjoyed. All you need is Clough.

Some very rational thought and measured opinion being expressed on here - with I think, only one dissenting over the wisdom of Nigel's appointment.....or should I say reappointment.
There was, incidentally another Nigel who went back......Nigel Pearson to Leicester City......and look where his team is now (I know he's no longer the manager there but it is essentially his team - the one that was the surest relegation candidate for most of last season - that now sits at the top of the Premiership today)
It's nothing if not a brave decision for NC to come back, brave for NC that is - less so for Ben. Back in 1998 when he first turned up at Eton Park, none of us could ever have imagined we'd be sitting at the top of the Third Division right now. Many would say, have said, we're over-achieving now. Can we really get into the Second Division? We'd surely be minnows swimming with sharks up there. We may have reached our zenith being where we are today, in which case the only way will be down.
However, I agree with those who've said if, under Nigel, we can consolidate our status for a few years, as a League One side (or so long as he's our manager) then that it itself will be a credit to him and sufficient achievement for me.
He may do better - we all hope that he does - and while he may not have the youthful ambition he had 17 years ago and he is not the first time In England manager now that he and his three successors were, he undoubtedly has something to prove to himself and others.....I'm sure his dismissals by those who thought he had 'failed' at Derby and Sheffield Utd will surely be still rankling with him.
If Nigel can do for us what Ranieri has done taking over at the Foxes, it won't be just their fans and Jamie Vardy that'll be having a party........

The sackings at both Derby and Sheffield United were in my view equally disgraceful. But he brings all of his Championship experience to the Pirelli, and I agree it is a brave decision, but I think he can do it.

Clipped from FB... "not confirmed how long Nigel back for.... Untill we get a manager or untill end of season, somebody who very close to the club told me". I hope it's neither - temporary or holding appointments create uncertainty and destabilise players - how can they give 100% commitment to a manger who is not 100% committed. I'm sure Ben would have learned the pitfalls of having caretakers from the Roy Mac experience. Even if he went at the end of the season it should not be foretold now - if it is to be for just 6 months, let it be a secret between Ben & Nigel
