Just wondering if anyone knows whether Florent Cuvelier is possibly still likely to join us, is staying with the Blades or going on loan elsewhere ?

I would say positive, yes. Not done and dusted yet but......almost.
Few things to sort out eg compensation as he is under 24 even though he was only with Plymouth for a few months. They offered him terms entitling them to some sort of compo.

Plymouth fans think they are a massive club and disappointed he is going to a minnow like Burton, on that basis they shouldn't be expecting much. I've got some compo down the garden they can have that !

I wonder if the Albion are looking at loaning Deano out so he can get some game time ?

He may well go to get some games but won't until after the first game at least. Jono has a one game suspension to serve from Cambridge so Dean will either play be a sub I would think.

Well I would say the new keeper on loan has a chance of making the spot his own
Mclaughlin did great last season but clearly he can't play that first match so the keeper position is up for grabs and if whoever plays the first match does well then there is no guarantee that Mclaughlin will be straight back in
Healthy competition for the keeper spot

For once I have to disagree observer.
I would be very suprised to see McLaughlin not playing in the second game, after his performance last season.
There were one or two critics in the early days but he is a terrific keeper and must have been worth 10 or 12 points to us last season?

My post is zero against mclaughlin but just saying we've got two keepers now fighting to play first match The new guy on loan to January which suggest JFH likes him If he does well pre season and keeps a clean sheet first match then no guarantee mclaughlin will go straight back in Would be very harsh on Mclaughlin and unlucky of course but this is about competition for places and we've got plenty of that for keeper spot now Not saying mclaughlin isn't favourite but one of the others is clearly going to have first chance to show he's the best bet Ps we clearly don't need 3 senior keepers other than first match

Choosing our goalkeeper simply echos the difficulty in selection throughout the team. Look at our apparent midfield selection problems in particular. I just hope Jimmy can pacify the unlucky ones at the start of the season. I must say at the moment I am really looking forward to the league programme beginning.

Judging by current paper talk we are still interested in bringing Florent Cuvelier back to the Pirelli stadium, and or other forward options. I notice Jimmy had advised him to start his pre-season preparations 3 weeks early. If he can remain fit there is no doubt he has real quality and he could be a definate asset. I can't see anything at all about him on Blades sites regarding his future but suspect we are monitoring his situation. Hopefully Nigel Adkins doesn't see him as part of his plans.

Another post about Ant on FB... "He was at the game yesterday in the training top with some of the lads. And a couple of players had told fans he had signed." Probably took 2 weeks to workout compensation with Plymouth. O'Connor joins Callum Reilly, Calum Butcher, Timmy Thiele, Darius Charles and Tom Naylor as new signings at the Pirelli Stadium, while Remi Matthews and Mark Duffy have signed on loan. And rumours today that Blyth may be coming back? The only mention of Blyth in today's article is about the fact we had him on loan last season. No indication or suggestion of him coming back. Perhaps he is one of the options Jimmy is looking at but all it says is that Jimmy may look to bring a loan striker in.

Personally although Blyth did well for us last season I feel we need and can get much better up front this season.

If we are looking at Leicester players then Harry Panayiotou might be worth a look. Seen him play at the Pirelli before and looks quite a lively striker. Think he played in the same game as Taft and Blyth against Villa reserves a season or so ago.
Would have to agree with Terraceman. I think at League One level we should be looking for someone a little better than Jacob. A reasonably decent striker at League 2 level on loan but not 100% sure he would cut it in League One. Who knows though. In Jimmy we trust.
