I can't really understand why McGurk didn't snatch Jimmy's hand off for a new contract, which would have undoubtedly meant higher wages and a higher standard of football.
Whilst I like him when he's on form and in positive mood, he can be a bit of a moaner on the pitch, when things aren't just as he thinks they should be and it was only in the second half of last season we really saw the best of him.
I would guess Jimmy won't be messed about for long and will have given Adam a deadline to make up his mind?
It's make your mind up time Adam...are you going to progress with the team and the manager that kick started your career again or are you going to do a "Shaun Harrad" and look for that "big club" that will give you a bit more money but risk failing again?

The Nathaniel deal could mean that's Gurks is on his way out? Reilly will provide another very good option in midfield and can provide cover at fullback as well, this signing makes good sense. I like what I saw of him in the very brief spell he had before getting injured. Nasser, Maynard and Naylor should be on the books soon! It's starting come into shape already. I wonder if Blythy will be back? Reilly raring to get started! Reilly is excited by the prospect of regular first-team football and woking with Brewers manager Jimmy Floyd-Hasselbaink. Its very interesting to see the club being linked with quite a few players, what is evident is that Jimmy and David are setting a high standard in the players we are looking to bring in. Calum Butcher being the latest. Reilly already signed, Higginbotham looks very likely as does Mendez Laing who I hadn't realised was with David Oldfield at Peterborough. Linked with J.E.Thomas and possibly still Izale Mcleod. I think it is clear Jimmy is looking at far more attacking options as all the players mentioned are attackers. Quietly confident we will be competitive next season. I almost forgot we may still get Florent Cuvelier too !

The wage budget may have been restructured more than we think ! I notice Higginbotham favours coming to the Pirelli and both he and Butcher are rumoured to being offered 2 year deals and Mendez-Laing a 1 year contract. J.Emmanuel Thomas will have certainly been on a good wage at Bristol City ! Has anybody heard anything on Tom Naylor ? I guess we will know more once Jimmy returns from holiday next week. With our Dutch training camp and friendlies arranged we could get a surprise signing from there.

Not surprised about Emanuel - Thomas as he has stated he wants to get back to the London area + wages would have been to much for us I would imagine . More interested in Izale McLeod who is more likely to come to us as he wants to get back up to the Midlands and his wages wouldn't be as high .

We never had a chance of getting JET (slow news day at the BM) and doubt that we will pay for McLeod. The other 4, including Joey Suk (if he is still on the radar) are real possibilities I think. A report earlier in May said Naylor was in a waiting game until his contract expires?

Did folk actually think we might sign Jay Emmanual Thomas!!!!!:-D
I'm sure the Burton Mail doesn't have a second clue about what is happening with incoming players at the Pirelli.

The situation with Izale Mcleod is an interesting one, he does have another year on his contract left at Crawley, however due to his contract details he will have to take a pay cut due to the clubs relegation to league 2. I think some of the more experienced players at the club who were made offers prior to Mark Yates joining as manager have turned them down, Yates has yet to speak to Mcleod as he is on holiday. He is now 30 years of age so a transfer fee may not be too large as the club could loose him for nothing in 12 months time. If it is true that Jimmy is interested in him then I think I am correct in the fact his family are from the east midlands area and he wants to be closer to them, if that is so we may be in a good position to sign him.

Yeah, Izale is from Birmingham, I thought that Swindon had expressed interest as well. It was reported that he is leaving Crawley because he doesn't want to take a pay cut to play in L2 at this stage in his career, he will be 31 in October. Dean Saunders said he expected him to go to the Championship? The expected wage issue aside I'm not sure he fits with Jimmys player signing philosophy to date. He seems to be most interested in young guys with potential and a hunger to climb the ladder, and in players who are able to play a couple of positions (Naylor, Maynard, Nasser, Reilly, Butcher, Higginbotham).
That said, if Izale doesn't get a better offer would he accept a wage cut here. Or might he follow Saunders to Chesterfield?

Just wondering peacock why you think Mcleod would have to take a pay cut to come to the Brewers, Crawley are struggling financially I believe and surely we will be paying better wages than them in league 2. To be honest I don't think Chesterfield are paying mega bucks and have just signed Sylvan Ebanks Blake from Preston.
