So if Bury and the Shrews draw and Southend don't win Tuesday, the party starts with victory Wednesday.Get in

Whilst we are not mathamatically up, 3 more points will be enough absolutely no problem. The title is between us and Shrewsbury.

I think we are up now...but let's go or the title. 4 winnable games. Carlisle won so have six points breathing space now so may make it easier for us to beat them.

An interesting point made by a supported on Facebook that I had not seen on here…
If Wycombe lose on Tuesday, then irrespective of what Bury and Southend do Tuesday, 3 points for us would be sufficient to guarantee promotion. A Wycombe defeat would mean that they could not catch us (if we beat Carlisle) and it is not possible for BOTH Bury and Southend to catch us as they have to play each other and therefore one of them will lose points.

I had missed that complexity also, thanks for pointing it out.

All this positivity. Great. Finally! I don't recall any negativity?

I will hold my hand up to being less positive than some
I said more than once there is a hell of a lot of hard work still needed
I responded to posters thinking the job was done or ours to throw away and I was worried about the form of our rivals
I'd actually say I was being realistic rather than negative though
Since then we've battled superbly to beat wycombe by a single goal and luton away by a single goal in nailbiting matches. I wouldn't describe those games as ours to throw away etc.
Without those two wins this promotion chase would still very much be in the balance and anybodys
As it is it certainly now is "ours to throw away" but only because more hard work had been done very well since I posted my concerns
Plus it's true to say the rivals have carried on winning by and large. I admire those amongst you who weren't concerned and knew we were definitely going up
Fact we've got 84 points and still not yet guaranteed though shows its been a battle
Now having said all that you would think beating Carlisle at home should be easier than beating wycombe at home and Luton away
I hope JFH keeps their feet firmly on the ground for tomorrow.

Don't think you need to worry about Jimmy keeping the players focused. I don't think a club has ever failed to get promotion with 84 points by the way, we may have enough already but 4 more points and its over in my opinion and the real issue is who is going to win the title us or Shrewsbury. We will need a point more than them due to their superior goal difference. Having said that I'm expecting a very tough game on Wednesday.

We have slipped a bit in some recent home games we would expect to win though
So let's treat this game at least as focused as we did Wycombe and Luton
I'm hoping for a win and a great performance but taking nothing for granted

Finally! I don't recall any negativity? I can't find where anyone mentioned negativity (except you just funky). But there has been a lot of fence-sitting, hand-wringing and worrying about other teams instead of focusing on the positive things Jimmy and the team are doing.

Finally! I don't recall any negativity? My caution was wrongly confused with negativity but fortunately I don't give a shit as I won't be dictated to and I won't tolerate being told what I should post.

In fact 85 points could even win the League let alone get top 3 I put that on first page of this thread! That's before the other teams started to win a lot!

It's now a lot less complicated.
We're on 85pts Bury can get 88pts Southend can get 87pts
We can get promoted in two ways on Saturday:
If we win, and Bury don't, we are promoted. Doesn't matter what Southend do in this scenario. If we draw, Bury lose, and Southend don't win, we are promoted.
Any other combination of results and we have to wait until next Tuesday at the earliest.

If we win at Morecambe, it's virtually assured anyway, as our goal difference is 9 better than Bury's and it's unlikely they'll overturn that in four games?

For that to be relevant, the minimum that would need to happen would be that Bury won 4 games 1-0 (+4 GD) and we beat Morecambe by 1 goal and lost the final 2 games by 1 goal (-1 GD). So already that +9 lead we have is down to +4. Then we just need a couple more goals and the GD is level. So although we'd obviously stand a good chance, it's not inconceivable that such a GD turnaround could happen.

Agreed and I've said it earlier in thread But we will get the points we need if we show same spirit as tonight
