Technically Alex MacDonald's goal at Carlisle (the cross-shot that hit the keeper and went in) has been given as an own goal in some quarters. Most of us of a BAFC persuasion have given Alex the benefit of the doubt on that one but most stats sites currently have him on eight for the season having scored twice since moving to Oxford.

Well actually Alex's was indeed an own goal, another one missed by most I guess. See the video at 1:04, Alex was passing to Blyth in the box and it hit the defenders foot before hitting the keeper so it's the defenders OG. www.youtube.com/watch?v=7V0SH1PI0NQ

Watched the Luton v Wycombe game last night, Wycombe played very well, they know every professional trick in the book, but Luton look to have lost the plot. It will be very interesting to see how results go between now and bank holiday Monday when we entertain them at the Pirelli. Potentially this could be an absolutely massive game in the race for automatic promotion.

Bury play Shrewsbury that night too. We have to win at Luton first and that will be difficult. If results go our way we could achieve promotion on the night.

I stand corrected funky, you are right. I'll be thankful wherever/whenever we achieve promotion, the sooner the better please.

There is a scenario that means we could get promotion on Tuesday night before we play on Wednesday. Not likely though.

I wonder if Ben still has the fireworks he had set up for the Oxford game?

Southend are a factor in this as well. They are a point behind Bury, are also chasing Wycombe for 3rd place and they have back to back home games (Tranmere on Saturday and Newport on Tuesday) coming up. Unless absolutely everything that is out of our hands goes in our favour then I also think that we'll be making promotion mathematically guaranteed at Morecambe. Nice little bit of symmetry there...a day trip to the coast to get promoted. Speaking of which the Northampton game will be one day shy of 6 years exactly since we won the Conference title at Plainmoor.

It is probably worth a sizeable bet on either team at these odds, then, should one team take a big step forward the other team's odds will drift out giving you a chance to cover your bet.
Not really an expert on that, maybe observer can clarify...

It is only 11 goals difference, in the very unlikely event we lose three games 2-0 and they win three games 2-0, their goal difference will be better.

Someone posted a link suggesting both shrewsbury and burton were 2/1 to win the league earlier this week. I didn't check but I knew that must be wrong and those odds on odds above mean that you can't win.
2/1 each and you could have cashed in for sure.
I agree about goal difference not being a cushion for us to drop enough points to be caught and the teams below us win enough games to catch us then any advantage we have in goal difference now could easily get swallowed up
The fact wycombe and bury have both just lost should shake their previous momentum and I'm expecting them to drop more points now
We've still got bury to play southend and shrewsbury to play bury as well.
I think 4 points will be more than enough for us now.

We're 1000/1 on now with Bet 365 so your offer of evens is a very good bet!
Not for me though :-)
