Whilst not counting any chickens so to speak or get ahead of ourselves which I'm sure JFH won't do. I have been viewing the onefootballforum site and its Real league table calculator. Very interesting reading with details of previous seasons and what should achieve automatic promotion this season. The suggestion is 85 points should guarantee promotion this season, if that works out accurate then we need 7 wins from 14 games ! I don't envisage us imploding in fact the opposite as I think we are getting stronger. Our fate is in our own hands most definitely and 21 points is well within our capabilities looking at the fixtures. Personally I am feeling confident that we will secure a top 3 finish.
What's your thoughts about this fellow Brewers ?

I'm terrified of using the P word Terraceman, in case Ben tries to bring back Roy McFarland just to make sure!

For us to need 21 points to guarantee promotion that implies the following: Shrewsbury are going to get at least 24 points - 8 wins from 14 Wycombe are going to get at least 26 points 9 ish wins from 14 And one of luton, Southend or plymouth are going to get 29 or 30 points 10 ish wins from 14 I personally only believe Shrewsbury will get 84 points or more I think 7 wins from 14 games would be more than enough now The teams below us aren't in the current form to do the above IMO

In fact 85 points could even win the League let alone get top 3

I would tend to agree with you there observer in all aspects. Even Shrewsbury fans are worried now that we might pip them to the title. Top 3 will do for me and anything else is a bonus.

As I stated before, I want first place now. It's in our hands, we are not dependent on anyone else's results and champions are the only team worthy of promotion in my eyes.

I think its a two horse race for the championship between us and the Shrews, more than happy for us to achieve this but I will take promotion in the top 3 if we don't take the title, anything but the play offs please !

Nothing to be scared of in our remaining games, we have some of the challengers to come, Newport, Southend and Wycombe at home, Plymouth and Luton away, the toughest game looks like Plymouth which could be a tough one but if we can keep picking up points at our current rate we should quite easily finish in the top 3 and hopefully in the top 1 . Like young Mr.E I want first place but I'll take automatic promotion regardless of where we finish.
Y'know, many years ago I remember being at the Abbey Stadium for a play off game and thinking "maybe we're just not destined to make that next step..." - the football romantic in me tingles at the thought of being crowned league two champions there in May. What a ghost to lay to rest.

I think 3 points tomorrow and 3 points on Saturday pretty much confirms it for me. That could be 70 points by the end of February!

I'm with you there spence, I remember both those ties and also in the race for the Conference title the following season when we were subjected to loads of vitriolic abuse from there fans.

I'm not one for getting carried away, you win nowt in February. 14 tough games, all of them need the same effort and attention. I would be highly delighted if we got 6 points from the next two games, but surprised also.

What a ghost to lay to rest. I agree with you on being happy with promotion regardless of where we finish. As for Cambridge, I think we laid the ghost to rest a year later when they failed to beat Alty on the last day. We went into L2, they had 4 years of managerial upheaval and bottom half finishes in the Conference. I know how our fans feel about them, I watched their FA Cup match on TV, it was the only time in my life that I've wanted Man Utd to win. I just hope that there is nothing riding on that last day, but as you know, the Brewers never achieve anything comfortably.

For those who aren't familiar with the other forum, the 'real league table' that they produce can be found here: www.onefootballforum.co.uk/index.php?threads/the-real-league-table-league-two.1220/It's a very useful resource and I'd recommend checking it out (and bookmarking the thread). The predicted promotion points total assumes that every team continues to accrue points at the same rate until the end of the season. However, it doesn't take into account the fact that teams play each other from now until the end of the season (i.e. there are games in which one team has to drop points). The final promotion total will therefore be lower than this. I still think 82pts is the magic number for automatic promotion. A points total in the high 80's will win you the league. On that basis we need 18pts (6 wins in 14 games) for promotion, and around 24pts (8 wins in 14 games) for the title.

You are right to say that we are setting ourselves up for a fall on here a bit It's looking good I'm still not sure if JFH is a great manager or a lucky one yet It's such early days Certainly looks like he could be great though!!
