Why is it necessary to quote yourself ? Again and again? No offence. I just don't get it Someone above had said that this thread had gone quiet.....it's easier to quote your previous positive comments/beliefs than to type them in again?

Huge afternoon for Albion. Shrews drew, Wycombe drew with Southend, Luton lost at home, Bury lost at home. That late goal for us (and the late goal for Cambridge) are both massive.
Next week we play at home against Accrington, while Shrewsbury go to Wycombe, so somebody has to drop points there.

Just had a quick look at the remaining fixtures as I was curious as to who had the easiest/hardest run in. Table below shows the current league positions of the teams that the top 6 still have to play in the 11 games that are left (game 11 is the last game of the season): - Burton have the joint hardest run-in, alongside Wycombe and Luton, whereas Shrewsbury have the easiest - That run where we play 5 of the top 8 in 6 games around Easter will obviously be crucial - We have one of the easier run-ins if you only consider the last 4 games, so even if we struggle over Easter all is not lost - Having said all that, it's not necessarily the case that a low number is best, because that suggests that you're mainly playing teams that are battling relegation, so bear that in mind - Southend are the team that I would most worry about, in terms of those teams outside the auto spots who might threaten us

Also, here's another way to look at it - run-ins for the current top 10, in order of points gained by their remaining opponents
Wycombe 548 Burton Albion 545 Luton 544 Northampton 540 Bury 523 Southend 519 Shrewsbury 515 Plymouth 511 Newport 504 Stevenage 501

12pts the magic number for me. Takes us to 82pts. Important to note that our GD is now similar to that of Wycombe and Shrewsbury. Could be important in the run in.

Yes 82 points is what I think will achieve automatic promotion this season, 4 wins from 10 matches required, I think that is very attainable !

Beat Southend on Wednesday and we go 11 points Lear of them. Lose and they will only be 5 points behind. Still 30 points to play for, too early to be celebrating for me.

Wednesday is massive.
A point is not a disaster and it maybe in jimmys mind when he picks his team.
They need to win more than we do.
If we do win though, 11 points clear is pretty much home and hosed with 9 games to go.

Over the season so far we have averaged 1.94 points per game, IF we could keep this going that would make a total of 89(.44 ) I know its a big ask but that would take us up no problem.

Being honest I would be happy for Bury to drop points on Tuesday along with any others around us and would certainly take a draw now for us.

Important games tonight:
Morecambe v Shrewsbury Newport v Luton Wycombe v Accrington York v Bury
Luton look most likely to drop points, but I wouldn't be surprised to see the other 3 win. I suspect we'll need to avoid defeat against Southend to remain at the top of the table.
If you assume that all teams continue to accrue points at the same rate between now and the end of the season, the last playoff place would be at just under 72pts. So a win tomorrow would confirm playoffs (albeit not mathematically). Not a major issue this season for most Albion fans, as we have slightly loftier ambitions, but confirming a playoff place with 9 games to go would be a nice indicator of how far we've come in 12 months.

And since Jimmy and David have been in charge we have averaged 2.05 ppg, that would take us to 90(.5) which would be pretty special and would win the league easily I think. I'll stick to my earlier prediction of 86 though

Early days but Morecambe and Newport are doing us favours so far. Wycombe have just gone one up against Accrington.

Morecambe are down to 10 men so that's that one virtually done and dusted (he says hoping to tempt fate)

Oh well...shame about Shrews big win but altogether not a bad set of results?
We're still top and a win against Tango Phil's shrimpers would leave us five points clear...we know what we have to do!
