Like one or two others on here, I feel a bit uncomfortable discussing this with 14 games to go. I am just happy to be where we are, and therefore be in charge of our own destiny, and not reliant on others at the moment anyway. Regarding the previous comment about JFH though. I certainly think he is a probably a very good manager, and certainly not a "lucky" manager. It is true he came into a very good team and position, but the results during the time of Garry Rowett's indecision, (Blackpool interview to JFH appointment), had gone very off course. We suddenly started conceding 3 goals far too often. Immediately JFH turned us back on course with what can only be described as first class management. He got the confidence of the players to buy into his own methods and routines straight away. His handling of the media is beyond reproach, so up to now can not be faulted. What is left to prove? Well obviously he has not yet had to deal with a run of defeats and indifferent performances, (due to the former comments already made). However, things can and do go wrong for the best of managers, and the test to yet come for Jimmy is how he responds to that situation when it happens, (no time soon I hope). Personally he strikes me as being a calm intelligent man who will handle difficult times very well, but this is the only thing for me left to prove.

I love the calmness.
It's very easy staying calm when results are going well.
My only reason to say we don't know yet whether he is great or lucky is because he's not been her long enough.
All the signs are he could be great.
But nothing wrong with being a lucky manager either.
Some are neither great nor lucky.
I didn't want Rowett to leave but if I am being honest I don't think we would be in this good a position now had he stayed.
But again we don't know how much this could be a short term boost or not.
Let me say this - if we get automatic then JFH will have done a great job without doubt.
You can't get lucky for 30 games.

Napolean was quoted as saying "I'd rather have a lucky general than a great general" You can quote me with saying " We have a great Manager and he's lucky as well"

I appreciate the sentiment, but if you can't discuss the possibility of promotion with 70% of the season already gone, when can you discuss it?!

Discussing it and expressing an opinion one way or the other is not going to affect whether anything happens or doesn't happen.
I'll get my cloak.

You can believe in tempting fate though. I do but I've just got this gut feeling that we're going up.
...or maybe that gut feeling is the incredibly spicy pizza I had last night?
I'll get my Andrex.

I suppose the reality is we are all thinking it, but hardly dare speak of it. Just keep taking one game at a time and if we can, then seal promotion as soon as we can.

Usr of the P word is very much premature ladies and gents. Even though we're still top? First defeat in thirteen? Nine point cushion over faltering Luton? I thought we'd see negativity seep in between now and Saturday...but barely minutes after a rare defeat?

I still think we're good enough to do it. As long as the players believe that and the manager can keep that belief going then I'm confident we can finish in the top 3. A good team can't go bad over the space of a couple of games.

I still feel we can do this. competition in Feb and March doesn't look nearly as tough, on paper at least. But April is looking like squeaky bum time with 6 games in 23 days vs some good teams. I am fairly confident that come April 1st we will have a comfortable point spread above the playoff contenders, enough to see us through to League 1. But, there are many things that could interfere with that, notably injuries. I agree the current team is best side I have seen at the Pirelli.

It all coincides with losing Blyth.

It all coincides with losing Blyth. How right you are,the priority should have been to sign a proven target man,and not some nomad journey man striker, also the recent signings from other leagues are just to light weight on the ball, and get shrugged off or tackled out of situations far to easily. Yes hindsight is a wonderful thing, league 2 is not like the Dutch leagues it's much more physical. Beavon looked tired yesterday which is not surprising,as he has run himself into the ground,McDonald has been sold but he was another tireless worker for the team, and with Blyth out the front line has no focal point. These foreign signings may come good in time, but maybe it's time to look for a more robust forward to help beavon. Can Lee Bell also be recalled? To add some bite in midfield,as Newport out fought our midfield in every 50/50 ball, the defense did there best, but with no support from the midfield or forwards,in defending as a team, there was only going to be one winner yesterday.

I'm starting to hate the Shrews, another late goal for the win!

Wycombe have a tough month of games and I think they will fall off the top 3. We have a relatively 'easy' month on paper at least so I think we will be fine by April. Bury have been on a roll, 2 losses in 11 games in 2015 (same as us) and have a similar relatively easy month on paper, so I think they might push into the top 3 by April.

6 points clear of automatic
12 games to go
3 teams 6 points behind us who will be after the automatic slot. One of them (Bury) in form the two others struggling a bit like us.
It was good to see Hartlepool lose last night so they aren't on a roll following their win at the weekend.
I really feel we need to win on Saturday.
