This is the one club that I think Mr Rowett and his backroom staff would leave for.
We shall wait and see................

If I was him then I would take it. However there are rather a lot of parallels to Cloughie and Derby...a big club with little money who will be unforgiving in a very short time. The unfortunate thing about doing your apprenticeship at the Pirelli though is that you get used to working within tight financial constraints...and achieving....

He might not even get offered the post, but I agree it looks tempting for him and Brum City may well see this as a shrewd and cheap option. Crap for Burton Albion again but we'll survive no matter what.

I overheard something on radio five live that sounded like the ownership of Birmingham City is clouded in mystery and is not the most financially stable of clubs. But I could have misunderstood.

I was listening to that programme yesterday I think. Very dodgy goings on there indeed - no-one seems to know who owns them. Birmingham would be a logical step up for GR under normal circumstances - 2 divisions up, and relatively local. However, with the ownership in the state it's in, it could be a career destroyer. Nothing ventured, nothing gained for him though I suppose. Interesting times. We say it'd be bad for Burton, but you never know, it could lead us to someone who brings that nudge to get over the promotion line.

Apologies didn't see other thread.
EDIT: From Norah... I have now merged the threads so there should be no problem.

Because of his connections there I can see him going, but I personally think it would be a mad move at this stage in his career. He has the realistic chance of getting a team promoted here (with a little help from Ben) and the realistic chance of getting a team demoted there. I know which I would rather have on my CV. But IF he goes we could be playing against him next year if he is still there. Think long and hard about this one Gaz....

I'm with you on this one Peacock, but it may be like the Clough situation, I.e. He may be offered the chance to lead a team he really cares for and that opportunity may not come again. However a promotion on your CV does look better than two play off near misses (and the possibility of relegation at St Andrews).
I hope he stays but if he is offered the job and he takes, I'd wish him the best of luck and even better good fortune to the next incumbent.
Anyway here's hoping they go for Owen Coyle :-)

Cannot see how he can turn it down if offered
Let's be honest he considered blackpool
Wouldn't even have to move house or disrupt kids schools for this one
I'm just hoping he doesn't get the offer
Glad we are third and not top and have lost a few
He may not look as tempting for them now we've lost a few

Mr Rowett was rumoured to have been a strong candidate for a job with a club currently in the bottom six of league 2 at the moment, last season before the Newport away game a approach was said to have been made,of course nothing came of it,but the rumours were on the terraces last season and the start of this season. Good luck to him if he leaves, maybe triples his wages and a better standard of player to work with, who would not want to better themselves in there employment.

I wouldn't read too much into the odds at the moment. Peschisolido is joint fourth favourite at 12/1

Two successive top seven finishes for one of the smallest clubs in the football league and in a division where you're mixing it with far, far bigger clubs than yourselves...THAT'S got to be head turning fact that will attract bigger clubs, not a temporary loss of form. Besides, you were touting him about when we were making our relentless charge towards the Championship, weren't you? I appreciate that I've previously said that I thought he wouldn't leave until he felt the job had been done here but after seeing the immense wave of support for him from Blues supporters on twitter I think if I was Gary Rowett and I got offered the Blues job I'd rip their bloody arm off. If he does end up there then in two years time if he's turned Birmingham into a play off challenging club despite having financial constraints then he'll be regarded as a even more of a legend than he is now. In short, he'll be appreciated at St. Andrews a lot more than he ever will be here despite of how far he's taken us thus far. They are a rabidly loyal set of supporters there and if he turns them around to the same extent that he's turned us around then they'd stick with him no matter what.

Not sure what odds it was when you looked on skybet but now it's a two horse race with joint favourites - Rowett at 6/5 and Phelan at 6/5
The rest are 14/1 at best
That's got to be people in the know at birmingham getting some bets on
So looks like birmingham have narrowed it down to the two of them
Come on Phelan!!
