Cannot see how he can turn it down if offered Let's be honest he considered blackpool Wouldn't even have to move house or disrupt kids schools for this one I'm just hoping he doesn't get the offer Glad we are third and not top and have lost a few He may not look as tempting for them now we've lost a fewDo you seriously think that a bit of a dodgy patch amid a minor injury crisis would overshadow the complete rebuild job that him and Summerfield have done at Burton Albion? Two successive top seven finishes for one of the smallest clubs in the football league and in a division where you're mixing it with far, far bigger clubs than yourselves...THAT'S got to be head turning fact that will attract bigger clubs, not a temporary loss of form. Besides, you were touting him about when we were making our relentless charge towards the Championship, weren't you? I appreciate that I've previously said that I thought he wouldn't leave until he felt the job had been done here but after seeing the immense wave of support for him from Blues supporters on twitter I think if I was Gary Rowett and I got offered the Blues job I'd rip their bloody arm off. If he does end up there then in two years time if he's turned Birmingham into a play off challenging club despite having financial constraints then he'll be regarded as a even more of a legend than he is now. In short, he'll be appreciated at St. Andrews a lot more than he ever will be here despite of how far he's taken us thus far. They are a rabidly loyal set of supporters there and if he turns them around to the same extent that he's turned us around then they'd stick with him no matter what. Spence - he's a good manager - I'm clutching at straws hoping not being top of the league and unbeaten would take a little bit of the gloss off I am certain if he gets offered the job he will take it and nobody could blame him Even if he failed there he would get another opportunity at this level - even back with us I'm just going to google what Phelan has done lately to see what might make them pick him ahead of rowett

Phelan off the back of being Ferguson assistant manager for four plus years
Others who are in the betting are Chris Hughton
Would actually take Hughton, Phelan or Lee Clark himself as a replacement should we lose Gary

Not sure what odds it was when you looked on skybet but now it's a two horse race with joint favourites - Rowett at 6/5 and Phelan at 6/5 The rest are 14/1 at best That's got to be people in the know at birmingham getting some bets on So looks like birmingham have narrowed it down to the two of them Come on Phelan!! The odds were pretty much a dead heat when I looked with Whelan slightly ahead, they will probably change as people place their bets Don't worry about Spences' rant. You simply posed a possible scenario, in this case where something (like losing a few games) might 'hopefully' turn them off Gaz. But as the saying goes "what is said is rarely what is heard" (in this case replace heard with read) and your words were misinterpreted and then twisted to argue something that you never said. it happens to me from several posters on here regularly. I stand by my comment that he would be mad to move there, we don't even know who owns the team, Carson Yeung is in prison, and someone is trying to sell the club in order to keep shares high on the Hong Kong stock exchange??? But if he does go, there is no way Ben will pay the wages for Hughton, Clarke, etc. I wouldn't mind James Beattie though...

Good point re wages
Having said that Clark will have his payoff from Birmingham and decent money in the bank
Burtons a decent job to show what you are capable of again
And would be a breath of fresh air for him
He's getting a lot of support from the Birmingham fans apparently who sympathised with job he was being asked to do
I realise Birmingham jobs not a great one under their current owners but it's still too big a job for Gary to turn down if offered I'm sure

If Gary does take the position, will be interesting to see if he takes any of the back room staff with him to Birmingham

You would think Summerfield would go with him. Big job Rowett would be taking on and he would want him alongside him.
Think he used to play for Birmingham as well. He's definitely got the Brummie accent.
Summerfield would probably do a decent job for us as manager but I expect him to stick with Rowett myself.
As for new manager I'm looking at the list and who I would like if we do have to replace.
Tim Sherwood appeals to me. If interested and affordable.
Hopefully it doesn't get to the stage we need to replace.

If we need to replace should Mr Rowett get offered the job at Birmingham and he accepted, my money on his replacement would be,
Darren Moore......................

Skybet now 1/2 gary rowett and 10/3 on Phelan
Which isn't what you want to see happening
I don't think a manager gets that low odds unless someone at least knows he is having an interview etc
Rowett is also a reasonably popular choice with their fans who have him third in a poll behind Hughton who many would like back and tony pullis
So he's the cheapest option, he has no contract and he's used to operating with minimal budget and the fans seem ok with the idea
He's going to have to do an awful interview IMO not to get this I fear

I have a slightly nervous thought that they are waiting until after the Carlisle game to make the announcement. Hope i'm wrong though!

That's encouraging Odds now Rowett 11/8 Robinson 7/4 Phelan 10/3 Robinson second favourite from nowhere Problem is cash strapped birmingham will need to find compensation money for robinson

Also MK are a club with great potential and have a reasonably wealthy backer don't they? Some would argue they are almost as big a club as the Blues.

Sky Sports News are reporting that Blues have asked for permission to speak to Karl Robinson.

It's not a good move for Robinson IMO.
