Well I reckon Rowett, Phelan and Robinson (if MK Dons allow) are all getting interviews for the job

Not surprised if they refused and not surprised if he isn't interested
He's still 2/1 in the betting though (Robinson that is)

It's in the papers that MK Dons turned down the approach to speak to Robinson

Birmingham looking to have new manager in place in time for the weekend Rowett is odds on favourite again now Not sure who we've got who could manage the team at stevenage if it is Rowett to Birmingham?
Mousinho and Beavon could do it as a one off I guess whilst we find new manager?
Mike whitlow from the academy?

Birmingham fans on their forums are already talking about what they will get from Gary Rowett.
This is the opening post from one of their fans in a thread last night - this will make you smile:
"Pal of mine is a Carlisle fan and is at the game. Said he has never seen a team as good on the attack at that level as Burton are. Apparently everytime they get the ball they attack at pace and in big numbers...
His exact words were, if you get Rowett then you'll defo be playing an attacking game - they only know one thing to do!"
Lol

As mentioned above Birmingham fans are confirming Sky said Burton have given Birmingham permission to speak to Rowett
Without a contract I'm not sure we could have refused anyway

Just because there is not a written contract does not mean one is not in place.

Funky if we have given permission to speak then I guess it doesn't matter
To be fair if we give permission to speak to Blackpool then can't see how we would stand in way of Birmingham speaking to him
That would ruin any relationship between chairman and manager anyway I also remember on here after he turned down Blackpool saying that sooner or later a club like Birmingham will come in for him and it's game over - was hoping it wouldn't be this soon though I fear for us here. This is nightmare scenario as if Rowett goes I am sure that we lose our assistant manager with him (it's not like when you sack a manager but can promote the assistant like we did with Rowett)
Birmingham assistant manager will earn similar if not more than our manager job pays
So we are in risk here of losing any continuity whatsoever from being joint top of the League
Far easier last time for the chairman
And I also think summerfield is a big part of our reasons for success
Losing these two is going to be a real hammer blow and replacing them on a budget very tough and very hit or miss IMO
I don't believe there is anyone in the club who could step up to the job to provide continuity.
I know he's not gone yet but writing is on the wall

The Chaiman has always said he would not stand in the way of the manager speaking to bigger clubs. I was just pointing out there may well be an agreement, a 'gentleman's agreement' that is in effect contractual. I believe that was the case with Clough and when Derby moved in for him I believe there was some compensation, if not cash, by way of an agreed number of pre season friendlies.
That is the way the Chairman runs the club, worked well so far.
Anyways, he has not gone yet, hope he stays.

Pat Murphy just confirmed on 5 live that Rowett is keen to talk with Birmingham and has permission whereas contractual issues have prevented Robinson from speaking with them.

Fact is the better Nigel Clough does the better for us as it looks like he will always try to help us with friendlies I imagine the same will apply if we lose Rowett. He will always try to help the chairman and club. Be interesting to see if Rowett came back for any of our players if he takes the job.

I'll be surprised if Rowett stays this time. It must be unsettling for the players with will he / won't he.
After the Blackpool 'warning' I'm sure Ben has his ideas about managers. Have the feeling that we've the reputation that Wycombe had many years ago for being the perfect start for any new manager. Not a bad place to be. Great support required on Saturday I suspect.

As one or two of us said at the time of the Blackpool enquiry, the one club who could take him sooner rather than later would be Birmingham City. It was already clear that their manager was fast approaching a critical situation, which unfortunately for us he has not been able to avert. Like others have said I think Ben will have already done some work on the situation if GR now goes. Birmingham would be on the face of it a tremendous opportunity for him, and I suspect his entourage. We would be back to basics, but that's the way of football.

Sky Sports now state that the Birmingham short list is now Mike Phelan and Garry Rowett, in that order. With that competition it looks like our man will come second.
