Thought the fans were brilliant. Check out the excellent Steve & Jack Vlogs on YouTube, really captures the atmosphere. Whoever said Mason Bennett was useless that was totally wrong, he ran his socks off for 70 odd minutes out there and scored! Carayol should have been used more this season, he can do 60 minutes and win you games. We look so much better when we keep the ball down and play although one minor critisism, Hughes is an excellent defender but tends to lump it forward to no one half the time although he did find Carayol with one long range pass yesterday I hope for next season we can sign Steve Seddon and make him the permanent left back. He was or is probably on a good wedge at Oxford so that might be an issue. COYB

A great afternoon at the Pirelli and it sort of felt that we'd got our old Burton Albion back. Decent crowd of 4.4K+ of which there must have been at least 2,700 - 2,800 home fans so it was good to see that people weren't put off after the last 8 games and saw the bigger picture that we had to get behind the team for such a crucial match and they really did help especially that last half an hour.
Fair play to MP, and let's give him some credit for yesterday at least, where he pretty much got everything right. The starting line up was as well balanced as we could put out and had more attacking options than some of his line ups previously. His issue was that the front three of Bennett, Kamwa and Carayol were only likely to be truly effective for 45 - 60 minutes maximum before they started flagging and that proved to be the case but boy did they have an impact in that time with all three scoring. Carayol was simply superb in that first half having a hand in all three goals. Firstly to win the free kick on the edge of the box, secondly with his run and shot and then I think winning the corner and taking it for the third. He's a great outlet and can beat his man and put in a decent cross. If that's his last game at the Pirelli then thanks Muzzy for that first half in what will hopefully be the start of the club getting back on track on the pitch.
Their goals were avoidable and Moon showed his relative inexperience in bringing down their winger for the penalty(was stonewall from the seats) which could have been critical. In truth and looking back on it although they had the ball a lot after that they didn't create much and in the end we saw it out comfortably especially the seven minutes added on. You never feel completely comfortable but that's just the nature of what we've been through this season where you spend all match fearing the worst.
I think what also showed was that when we bought the two young strikers on for the last half hour or so we became completely ineffective up front and whilst they ran around a lot there is just no cutting edge. Don't want to overly criticise them as they are young inexperienced players learning their trade but there was a gulf between them and the front three that started. As Mikeyboy has continually said the January transfer dealings with swapping the forward line has been the main issue with our recent struggles.
Anyway, let's wait and see what happens with Cheltenham's game in hand which could go either way. Whether Posh truly believe they can catch Derby I don't know and they may choose to rest players. Ordinarily you would expect them to win but as good as they are they do throw in some horror shows from time to time. I hope that's not this Tuesday as that would mean we would have to beat Fleetwood if Cheltenham were to beat Stevenage as they would have a better goal difference so a draw won't be enough. There is a scenario where a draw would be enough if Cambridge lost their last two which are at home to Wycombe and away to the hapless Vale so unlikely.
Anyway, what a great day and we look as close to safety now as we have done for some time but for me the best thing was how we performed which was a mixture of good early attacking play followed by a true Albion backs to the wall, bodies on the line job at the end. Fantastic stuff!

Us winning (or if we'd drawn) yesterday is what relegated Port Vale and Fleetwood.
If we'd have lost, all four of us would've been fighting on the last day, next Tuesday not withstanding.
In theory, we can still finish 18th, which would be a right royal p*sstake. Talk about polishing a turd...
Still not safe, though. Come on Peterborough!!!!!!!!!!!

Hopefully their backup squad including Jonson Clarke-Harris will be enough. Cheltenham need to win right? If so, they can’t afford to sit behind the ball and they’ll need to go for it and risk a fast break

Poor them, they can't manage 2 more games from their best players. Also doesn't matter that the fans may want to see them finish the season strongly.

So he's allowed to compromise the rest of the division because they suddenly can't play Sat-Tues-Sat.

You could look at it that the players selected for Posh on Tuesday, although not first team regulars, should be playing to impress the manager and for a possible place in the team for the play offs if they do well.

If we'd beaten them at home last Tuesday, none of this would be an issue.

If we'd beaten them at home last Tuesday, none of this would be an issue. Or even drew.
