Apparently about 6 foot 2 so will add some much needed height to the front line, not really a target man type striker but apparently a good all rounder.

7 games for Altrincham in the National League last season. 1 goal.

According to the Sky Transfer Centre website, Joe Hugill has signed a new contract until 2026 with an option for a further year. They must think very highly of him, so all good if he signs on loan for Burton.

Unfortunately it also says that Hugill has been training regularly with the first team at Manchester United and been named on the bench four times, including Monday's victory at Wigan in the FA Cup. Would they really let him go to Burton and not give him a chance in the first team? Unless United want to send him to Burton for experience, like they did for David Beckham sending him out to a lower league club and look what happened to him.

Linked with Liam Kelly, 33 year old defensive midfielder from Coventry. Hasn't played much at all over the last three seasons. Saying that we are crying out for a defensive midfielder to release Powell forwards.

I read that yesterday, it was telling that his contribution to date was equalled by young Joe Hugill in a matter of minutes after coming on for his debut. I’m not saying it’s been all his doing obviously with injuries and poor service but he’s never going to suit us on the counter like last night. Please sell and use the cash to fund other areas

An incredibly strange move, something must be seriously adrift with Stockton I’d say.

Let’s hope he goes soon as he clearly does not want to be at Burton Albion. What a waste.

Barrow train in Manchester, so it'd probably be closer to home for him.

Barrow train in Manchester, so it'd probably be closer to home for him. Blimey! They're 100 miles and 2hrs apart.... I did think he might be interested in getting back up Morecambe way... But even Morecambe is 50 miles and an hour away from Barrow.... Nowhere is near Barrow....

Strong rumours that he is to sign for Barrow on loan for the rest of this season. Hopefully they are paying all of his wages so we can reinvest elsewhere and we can move on from thinking things will improve when he's back. We've been thinking that way for most of the season but it's just never materialised! Personally hope he scores loads for them and they get promoted and then we can start a summer auction for him and get a transfer fee. Let's face it he isn't going to come back to us whatever.
Like most of us I was excited when this signing was announced but also, in the cold light of day, I did actually think why is he signing for us? For somebody with his reputation in the last couple of years I expected a bigger team in the league to snap him up for free but everybody else gave him a wide berth which allowed us/Dino to step in and get him. Perhaps everybody else knew something we didn't i.e. fitness/attitude etc. and so in the end he had little choice.
I think it was the Wigan game earlier in the season when I sat behind the dugouts and had some squad players just in front of me where everybody apart from Stockton was chatting away with each other and he just sat there on his own, looking at his phone, looking as miserable as sin and like a right Billy No Mates. I just thought that night that something didn't look right. I tried to convince myself otherwise but at the end of the day it's clear he doesn't want to knuckle down and play either for Dino or the new manager so it's best we cut our losses and move on.

Shame it’s loan move - best just to move him on. However if he scores a lot of goals we might get a bigger fee in the summer for him. I was excited when he joined as he always looked a great player for Morecambe. Some of it his fault, some of it ours, as Dino did not play to his strengths at all. I expect he fell out with the manager due to this.
