Bit surprising Sky have picked this one so soon after the Cheltenham game... Another Saturday without football... š

I know people whoāve bought advance train tickets for this one. Personally Iām not moaning because I believe tv exposure is good but a little more notice might have been nice. Odd to pick us after a heavy defeat as well.
Edit - just read that apparently Portsmouth v Plymouth shouldāve been the live game but itās been postponed due to international call ups so weāre second choice.

Anybody fancy a shot at predicting the team for this one!?
Harder still predict the team assuming all are fit?!
I've tried the first one; really difficult.

Iāve watched the Albion from the first game they ever played and this is the biggest squad I can remember.(Iām probably giving my age away here).

I think changes from the Cheltenham game will be minimal but I really wouldnāt be surprised to see Amadi-Holloway start up front in place of Patrick. Hopefully Mancienne will be back although Iāve not heard how long heās out for. Of the new boys Jebbison is away with England and I think I read on here that Hughes is still injured. Chapman and Lakin on the bench? Lots of options but I donāt think heāll tinker too much just yet.
I do have to say though Iād really like to see Bostwick back in if heās fit. As good as the two lads at centre half were to start off with the last two games and the goals weāve let in have shown we maybe miss his presence. You could really tell when he was missing in the 2nd half of last season and I think itās beginning to show now.

www.burtonalbionfc.co.uk/news/2021/september/0309-injuries/Hemmings, Taylor and Bostwick in contention for Monday night with Jebbison away on international duty. Deji and Maddox hopefully start training with the physio on Sunday. Mancienne out for 4-5 weeks and we wonāt see Sam Hughes until October. Nothing about OāConnor.

We hear a lot about the harder training routines under JFH/Dino. Are they too hard?

We hear a lot about the harder training routines under JFH/Dino. Are they too hard? I don't know about too hard? there has always been a handful of comments saying that under different managements they were too soft! Our squad were not fit enough ( or just ran...). J&D strike me rather as heavily interested / invested in the science/ biological stamina of the human body. Certainly a lot of training injuries are due to not being fit and / or not warming up, but again our management seem to be very on the ball as far as these things are concerned. All credit to them. Sometime these things just happen..

Now weāre closer to the game Iāll have a stab at guessing the starting 11 GarrattBrayford Bostwick Leak HamerShaugnessy CBJAkins Powell PatrickAmadi-HollowaySubs - Balcombe, Blake-Tracy, Morris, Rowe, Hemmings, Chapman, Lakin
Apart from Gilligan I think thatās all our available players who would be in the first team picture.
Jebbison and Taylor on international duty. Deji, Wallace, Smith, OāConnor, Maddox, Moult, Mancienne and Hughes all injured.

Jimmy seemed to favour Fondop away from home last season and I donāt think heās gone with the similarly big physical Amadi yet because Patrick has done fairly well. Amadi looked more of an effective focal point up top when he came on against Cheltenham though. I also think he did alright against MK so with Kane coming back off a long-ish spell out I think Amadi will get the nod with Kane coming on if we need him.

I didnāt realise Aaron was 6ft 2 and 13.09st - he didnāt look that to me. He has 11 goals in 154 Football League appearances over 7 seasons. Fondop had 2 in 17 over half a season.

Garratt, Brayford, Bostwick, Shaughnessy, Hamer, CBT, Lakin, Powell, Akins, Smith, Hemmings
Subs - Balcombe, Morris, Patrick, Blake-Tracy, Amadi-Holloway, Taylor, Chapman
So Bostwick, Hemmings and Lakin all come into the team. Leak misses out altogether. Not sure how Taylor is with us as Wales U21ās are away in Bulgaria tomorrow and heās the captain.

I think Terry was named in the original squad but then had to go into isolation so was left out of the squad and didnt meet up with the Wales squad. Was on the bench against MK Dons in the EFL Trophy last week too.
