I think we need to have some perspective at this point. We all got excited with the finish to last season, and the start to this season. But it is still a team very much in transition with a lot of new players, and absolute bad luck with the injuries. At the moment I believe JFH is just trying to steer us 'anywayhecan' through this difficult period and keep us in the mix.
The reality is we could easily have lost to Ipswich and Sunderland (and Bolton), which would have left us with 4 points from 6 games and an entirely different start to the season!!
But we do have the makings of a decent team, with plenty of quality (when fit), and this season may well be one of consolidation
In the meantime the club, management and players just need our full support, and whilst we would all like to see attacking flowing football, we just need to be patient and wait-and-see.
Good chance on Saturday to pick up 3 points!!

To concede 3 on our last away game and then keep a clean sheet in the next against Bolton is great progress.

No coincidence after a few mishaps that we looked absolutely solid again with Bostwick in the team. As per the footballing side of things I really do think we miss Mancienne. He’s the metronome of the team. He can win the ball, look up and pass it. He speaks to players around him. Yes we bypassed that last night…I think Taylor is a better option than CBT in that respect but I’ve got the benefit of hindsight…but we had a defender and a debutant playing there whereas last season I think we had a pretty constant Mancienne/Edwards/Clare machine running the midfield. As norwichbrewer said it felt a lot like an “anywayhecan” game. A tough watch but we got a point. Just stings a bit knowing a lot of people in Burton would’ve watched it and made an assumption based on those 90 minutes.
We will get better. We’re 6 games in and are still missing 10 players.
PS. There is a wonderful irony that Bolton fans are giving us grief for turning up and playing like that when Sam Allardyce basically created that way of playing, kept them in the top flight for a decade and got them into Europe off the back of it. Karma’s a bitch isn’t it.

We're 3rd in the league with that point. JFH I reckon has short term targets which add up to the long term target. get a point against bolton. the next 3 games are gillingham, crewe and Lincoln. all who should be weaker sides in the division have a look again in 3 matches. if we are on 17 or 18 points after those games then we are on course for a good season

So Evatt reckons clubs like Bolton can’t afford to have decisions like the disallowed goal go like that against them. Even with their £100m consortium who bailed them out backing them up? How’s about focusing on your own teams failings and asking why they didn’t get more than 4 out of their 25 shots on target? Tune in next week when a decision goes for them and he just shrugs his shoulders and says “I didn’t see it”…

The player was off side and interfering with play, end of. Sunderland had a goal disallowed against us and there was similar moaning. Things don't change do they ? Clubs that were once in the upper echelons of English football still thinking we should roll over for them and get all the decisions in their favour. It does not work in that way, they are in the same division as us because of bad decisions and financial mis-management competeting against in our case a much smaller club that has been consistently making good decisions and been correctly financial managed for a quarter of a century and earned the right on the pitch to be playing at the same level as them. Take a look at the National league its full of clubs who have messed up. Keep on keeping on you Brewers you are doing a grand job !

A further 9 in the National League North and 1 in the National League South. So a full Division of 22 ex Football League Clubs.

I remember a fair few big decisions going against us our first season back in league one. A dodgy penalty on the stroke of half time against Gillingham in a game we absolutely dominated but lost. An offside winner set up by a handball in injury time for Portsmouth in a live Sky game. Those go for us and we’re 3 or 4 points off the play offs going into the final two games of the season. Do I want VAR taking stuff like that into account? Not on your life.
I actually think the introduction of VAR may be used as a device by clubs with a lot of money to waste to get rid of the Burtons, Morecambes and Accys of the world. They’d swallow the cost up and still spunk millions up the wall. For us it affects our playing budget.

Sorry for my rants but the sense of entitlement enrages me. Officials are shit. Put your big boy pants on and deal with it.
