I don't think Ben should have another "meet the manager evening" ! We lose them straight after ! Jimmy will go with my blessings, a terrific bloke as well as manager with a great philosophy. There is no guarantee David Oldfield would go with him and I think he would make a brilliant manager and I certainly wouldn't be averse to Nigel Clough returning, his style would suit us with the squad we have. Lets just wait and see but I think it very likely Jimmy will go to be honest.

I'm still hoping he stays until the end of the season but it is looking like I may not get my wish . As for Cloughie coming back, its possible and if it did happen he would get my full support but personally I would prefer not.

Its inevitable Jimmy will leave us so as much as i hate to say it lets get it over and done with asap. It cant be doing the players any good all the speculation. Maybe they are waiting to get the lights switched on first!

I would put money on Oldfield going with him
Would he come in for any players?
Probably not
Maybe mousinho or nasser?
Personally I don't like the constant looking over the shoulder wondering if our manager will stay or go
I would be happy for JFH to go - Nigel Clough come in and for us to have some stability at the top for a few years
Become a solid League One team with aspirations of Championship

Club needs to make a statement to quash the rumours of they are fictitious.

The thing is they made a statement last week and until the situation changes and someone does make an approach there is not a lot more they can say. They certainly won't fuel speculation but can't really say anything until something definitely happens.

My sentiments are similar observer, we've had a successful year under JFH, we've enjoyed it, it's coming to an end, so be it, let's see what the chairman does next, he's got a good record with these decisions, our club's in a decent position... and hopefully Hasselbaink (and presumably Oldfield) do well at QPR or wherever they end up and I look forward to keeping an eye on their results. Everyone's happy.

I have no inside view on this, but the writing does appear to be on the wall, the 'media' seems fairly certain.
However, what I would expect, if JFH does indeed leave, is that it will be done in an orderly and professional manner. We have a game Tuesday, QPR don't, so I expect that JFH will be in charge at Wigan even if a move has been agreed.
As for the next manager, if there is to be one, a spell where we are not forever reading about our manager being another club's next manager would be great . Clough part two would seem to fit for me.
Anyway, we will see. If JFH stays, I will be delighted. If he leaves I will be very disappointed, as I don't think QPR are anywhere close to Barcelona, and as we know Burton is his.

My view on the statements are that the club will always deny speculation before the game. I agree with Funky that Wigan may be his last game.

Have to agree with your appraisal funky, Clough part 2 would be a good fit if he would come, he certainly has the experience in the league now, knows the chairman the club and supporters. I'm not expecting Jimmy to be in charge for our next home game.

If new manager is to be Nigel could do with this happening asap
Forest on brink of sacking Freedman (they are 2 points off relegation now and lost again at weekend)
And Nigel heavily linked with that job for last month

Respect for Nigel Clough and what he has achieved but Managers returning to previous jobs worry me as (Jose apart) things often do not work out as good as before. Ben has an excellent record of appointing first time/young up and coming Managers and I wonder if that might prove a better option.... Kevin Phillips?

But is it time to stop appointing up and coming managers who will inevitably just use us as a stepping stone if they are successful
We are League One now. At the right end.
My reason for thinking of Nigel is I believe he would be happy to commit to us longer term at this stage of his career and allow us to cement a back room team and long term plan.
Solid, consistent management rather than stop/start roller coaster ride where we are always looking over our shoulder?
I realise you need a bit of luck appointing managers. I just think Nigel would be a solid appointment and more likely a long term one than another untried up and coming type who you can never be sure will deliver until you see them in action
JFH and Rowett a hard act to follow for an unproven manager. It could go both ways let's be honest.

I think it's a compliment that clubs want our managers to be honest... I'll happily keep progressing up the leagues in this way...!

Re: Stability is better,
I am not sure I agree, as stability means mediocrity. I'd sooner take a new manager every year if it meant we kept progressing.

This is clipped from a FB post, the most sensible thing I have heard on this topic....
"I think if we were mid-table or lower then yes, he is the man to keep us steady.
But this is probably our best ever chance of making the Championship. It's a chance we need to have a strong crack at, & I don't see Clough as an 'impact manager'. I think we'd need to replace Jimmy (if he goes) with someone similar who can have the same impact on the players as he did when he came in.
I don't think Clough would be the right man at this point in time. I feel heartless for saying it as we owe him so much! But thinking about it with my head not my heart."
And, although I have been keeping quiet on this topic, WHEN JFH does leave BAFC one name I would throw in the hat is Kevin Phillips.
