I agree that this is not a good look especially having allowed Leicester Ladies to play on it on Saturday lunchtime. There is no benefit to us as a club to not try and get this game on especially having had a good win on Saturday and they're bottom of the league having not won for goodness knows how long. A bit like last week, play it if you can, get three points and pull away from the bottom. That said, and I know this will be an unpopular opinion, but as somebody who lives 10 minutes from the ground the last two Tuesdays have been remarkable in the fact that we have had really heavy rain from 3 o'clock onwards on both days and it's continued more or less up to kick off. Those saying it should have been called off earlier, think of the travelling fans, the point is that when both Cheltenham and Carlisle set off it wasn't raining as it has been now and unless i've missed something you can't call a match off until the ref deems the pitch unplayable. Sorry lads, stay at home as it might rain later and the pitch might be unplayable. Weather can actually deviate from the forecast. I get that there is the wider issue of the pitch itself and how it stands up to these spells of heavy rain and its ability to withstand these sort of conditions. I would imagine that it's just outside the budget to do something about it, like lots of other things. To be fair i've never thought that we are a club who regularly has games called off so think we have just struck unlucky on the last two Tuesday's. Also, we're not the only ones calling games off at short notice. Peterborough and Grimsby have called games off today as did Walsall last week. Be interesting to see when this is rearranged for. Surely not towards the end of April in between the last two games! Correct me if I'm wrong, our head groundsman left the club last season or before that. I don't recall seeing a pitch renovation the last close season, probably just reseeded. Now before that the pitch was kept immaculate or as immaculate as could be, not any postponed games because of rain. Yes it was in a dire state quite a few seasons ago but then the drainage was sorted. What's going on, penny pinching or just lack of knowledge about pitch maintenance from whoever now? Depends who you mean by 'the head groundsman' that left. We had Simon Marshall for a good number of years, who was excellent and the current groundsman, Nick was originally Simon's apprentice who eventually went off to join Leicester City and returned towards the end of last season when the previous groundsman (whose name escapes me) left having overseen the mess that the pitch got into at this time last year. The pitch was completely renovated in the summer as I was down there early in the summer for an event not long after the renovations had taken place and the new grass had only just started to germinate. I saw a post earlier on elsewhere that Nick had been in since 6am this morning to get the pitch ready and had worked tirelessly to get the game on. When I arrived this evening the whole of the main stand side was under a double layer of covers and there were also covers through the centre of both penalty areas. Whether other areas had also been under cover, I dont know as I didnt arrive until just gone 5pm. Not sure what time the referee arrived but in the time I was there he inspected and then opted to inspect again just before 6.15. This was a lengthy inspection after which he went back to consult with the EFL and check the weather forecast for the evening. He then came out and did a further thorough inspection and after consultation with the two managers called the game off. That short video of the pitch in front of the dugouts is, in my opinion, slightly disingenuous, as the referee had already made his decision based on other areas of the pitch as that part was still being finally uncovered and much of the water on show there was run off water from on top of the covers. As I was leaving there were some preliminary discussions around new dates and the suggestion was that it could be sooner rather than later.

I think alot of you are from Burton-upon-Trent obviously miss the point. Twice this has happened within weeks. What about me? Person who travels 30 miles there and back. Traveling from Derby. Catching the train. Away fans. If it rains and rains alot in this country, has my wife got sit watching her tablet waiting for a email, and call me half way along the 38. I want to complain. Who do I complain to? The FA? Burton Albion? It's a disgusting that rain should stop a Division 1 game. OK it rained all day, you could not call it a storm. FA should look into Burton Albions problem.

I was quoting you with your traveling. Has Burton Albion apologised to you, or offered to pay for your travelling costs. I phoned the ground at 2 30pm. Answer 'no problems as far as we know the game is on'. Will you cancel at the last minute. 'We don't think so'. Bit vague. So Burton on Trent must had a tropical storm of biblical proportions even Noah's Ark could not handle, between 2 30pm and 6 45pm

At 2.30pm on both days there would have been no problem albeit the conditions were damp but most certainly playable. At around 3pm on both days it rained heavily for about 2-3 hours constantly which then made parts of the pitch unplayable and not safe for players(confirmed by both managers). It's frustrating for everybody especially those travelling any distance that had already set off. Personally don't think the club have anything to apologise for as they can't do anything about the weather and can't call a game off(that's the refs responsibility) just because the weather forecast is poor. It was inconvenient for those of us that live close as well. My wife was set to do tea(jacket potatoes) for 6.45pm but when she heard the game was in doubt she took her eye off the ball and it wasn't ready until 7.15pm and I don't mind saying that I was starving by that time. Shambles.

I think I can take the one postponed match, last nights, although I think partially covering the pitch in the areas suggested didn't help. No, the other postponed game (Cheltenham) was to me unnecessary, we shouldn't have even been playing that night, sod Bolton.๐

Someone suggested I should stick to the spud man. Les Green comes mind at the Baseball Ground, and the song 'Mud Glorious Mud.' Anyway Mr Robinson has given his excuses so that's that. โ

No, the other postponed game (Cheltenham) was to me unnecessary, we shouldn't have even been playing that night, sod Bolton.๐ I get what you are saying but I think that if they had left some of the worn areas uncovered then with the volume of rain on it yesterday afternoon/evening it would have done more lasting damage to those areas. I know how gutted Nick was by last weeks postponement given his subsequent Facebook post later in the week. Didnโt get chance to speak to him last night but I know he will really be hurting as he is proud to do this job and puts his heart and soul into it.

I think we are all gutted it was off as we saw it as an opportunity to pull away from the relegation zone. How different would we be feeling looking at a league table with 6 more points if it went to plan.
I'd left at half six with my partner under instruction to keep an eye on the websites and call me. After 50-60mph driving in the pouring rain down the A38 from J28 of the M1 I was suspecting the worst and it came at Kingsway island.
I now wish I'd driven the other way and watched Mansfield, 9-2!
The club doesn't want the games called off and will be doing everything in it's reasonable power to ensure it's on. I think it's a bit unfair some of the criticism on social media. Ultimately the referee is making the decision at whatever time. I'm sure we'd all be equally disappointed if it became ridiculous 5 mins in.
I think it would be a nice gesture to offer the Cheltenham and particularly the Carlisle fans a complimentary tea or coffee etc. I know it's not our fault but it'd just be a positive thing considering the travel undertaken for a last minute postponement. May take the sting out of some of the criticism and wouldn't cost much. ( The salesman in me also recognises the opportunity to then sell them food once they're at the kiosk๐).
Looking at the number of games in March and April it would've been ideal to get it on next Tuesday, but I'm sure that's not possible. (Had it been a cup game it would have been of course).
Nothing we can do about it now, let's just hope we've learned a bit and make any relevant investment. The weather is only going to carry on like this in the coming seasons. Seems to be more and more flooding etc.
Both were nights I could get to the game so very frustrated. Carlisle game was my Valentine present from my partner, yes she's one to keep!

Check before leaving home it's on, if raining or even if not ๐

How much is a coach for the Carlisle fans going to cost? I have no idea, but are there enough of us to chip in and pay for one? A big ask in the current climate I know, but is it worth exploring?

I'm not really looking forward to it, to be honest.
Anything less than a win will be very poor. No matter who it is, a team at the bottom who have lost the last six games - they should be beaten and beaten well.
