He was sub against Man City away. We conceded 9. Played in the home leg and we conceded 1.

Totally different matches, different attitudes, different players for both sides. Make no mistake if City needed a positive result (a win) they would have made sure they got it and some. The conditions for one dictated they would take care of business but not risk it too much, Brewers on the otherhand were playing for pride. Anyone who thought they (city) couldn't score more against us because of a certain defender we had in the ranks need a reality check. I heard grumbles about McCrory being in the match day team, hey I thought he did ok when asked to shift position.

The only defender we have that doesn't give me the heebee jeebees when he has the ball at his feet.

Yes Man City were amazing in the first leg but we would surely kept the score down a bit if Kyle was playing, I'm certain of that. Some of our defending was calamitous.

I read it as, because Kyle played in the home match we only conceded 1 goal. And because he didn't play in the away match we conceded 9. Which I take he means Kyle is a very good defender and certainly shouldn't be missing out of the side. The player can only play if he's fit, I'm pretty sure Kyle hasn't been fully fit up to last night or he would have been involved in the City away game. I've seen Kyle play in a live match prior to him joining Burton for MK Dons, I thought he was the best player on the pitch. I rate him highly but to chose his influence as a factor we didn't concede many goals, only one is a nonsense, he did good though.

If Kyle does go that will be crazy. NC said he only wanted t0 bring in a centre half and wasnt interested in anything else (his words not mine) Since then hes brought in a pair of full backs. We didnt need a right back, we already have two players covering that position. One has to assume from NC’S comments about expecting and probably accepting any interest in Kyle tells us he not wanted and the manager prefers Brayford and Buxton his faithful two. That is a retrograde step and im afraid if it happens demonstrates a very bad days business for the Brewers. Brayford isnt a centre half and Buxton is not the future. As for Damian, the record appearance player for the Brewers I believe he too has been treated shabbily by the club over the last couple of seasons.

I like Kyle, always have done despite the fact he is a Sheffield United fan, that is an affliction he can do little about.
But he will be one of our higher earners, he is out of contract in the summer so it is very unlikely, alas that he will be here next season. The same can be said for Turner, Brayford and Buxton, but I suspect that they may well stay.
Whether that means he (Kyle) will be leaving in January (near the end of that already) I don't know.
In terms of Brayford by the way, you do recall that he played all his formative years as a centre back and indeed broke into the Burton albion team as a centre back?

I believe most clubs that are prudently run, would be looking to offload a player who could command a fee in January, if they have already indicated they won’t be signing a new contract. It’s good business practice.

Reading this thread and your last paragraph about John Brayford, I too thought he played as a centre back when he first broke into the team (2007ish?) before moving to right back but wasn't entirely sure - but could rely on you being the poster to confirm this ;-)
Re: your first paragraph and totally off topic, did you know there's now a Sheffield Wednesday shop in Meadowhall?

At £60 a replica shirt, I can't see them doing a great deal of business. Still off topic, I understand Wednesday will be playing in a very dark blue/black strip on Sunday (the official colour is obsidian I think). Chelsea play all in blue. I hope the referee tells them not to be so silly.

And yes Brayford played many games at centre half for us, that was his natural position.

I think Brayford is also on record as saying he enjoys playing cb and that is where he sees his future (as well as telling us how important Bucko is on the pitch organising and behind the scenes organising, mentoring, supporting younger players)
At the start of the transfer window I thought I'd read NC was looking at targets in a range of positions not just cb
Who's our other rb? Not best position for either Akins or Fox imo
Fadz is our best footballing cb on his day but is prone, as are others, to the mispass and more than others for wreckless tackles that have cost us points.
I don't think Damo has been shabbily treated by NC or the club. IMO wingers often get the better of him with their speed and get in crosses he fails to block/prevent. I wasn't sure if either Fadz or Damo would start on Weds but NC showed his fairness by playing both of them. I feared the worse and another hatfull of goals against when I saw Damo starting..... Strangely he seemed to do OK in the middle after Turner went off didn't he? tho I must admit I wasn't paying his game any special attention..... He a player who seems to divide opinion.
Fadz had a good game and Boycie a better game than he has of late.... I wouldn't be surprised if 2 or 3 more don't arrive before the window closes..
