Hi all Villa fan here.
Obviously we are expected to win, and well, and it would be something of a surprise if that weren't to happen. But...you never know...
You seem better set-up away from home and your record suggests that is the case. I have only seen you once this season (against us) and you weren't very good to be honest although it was one of the first few games where we clicked this season.
As for Saturday's game I don't think a result is beyond you. Anyone usually can beat anyone in this division on their given day and the longer you keep us out the better your chances are as the crowd may start getting restless after a run of 5 wins. We, with the greatest respect are taking this as an ideal game for 6 on the bounce and keeping the pressure on Derby.
We are on form and if we play well we will win. However, there are a few concerns. Sam Johnstone still doesn't command his area well enough so set-up piece deliveries and crosses all in the 6 yard box - and in front of him - tend to cause us problems. See Barnsley's goal at Villa Park 2 weeks ago when the player headed home direct from a corner from about 3 yards out. Similarly at Brammal Lane on Tuesday their centre-half hit the bar from about 5 yards out. Yes, the defending could be better but the keeper should be better at commanding that area and at least getting a punch, or hand, on the ball coming in.
Therein lies our problem. Shut up shop and try and get a set piece, or the ball into the box in the air and we are vulnerable.
However, we are getting better at the other end. Adomah is starting to go off the boil but how do you 'rest' a player on the back of 5 on the spin. We need to freshen up and do have the players to come in and do it. Hogan's scoring goals but the biggest positive is Jack Grealish. he's starting to dominate games and has been absolutely spot on for us over the past 5 games.
I can see you getting something if you are set-up well or if you score first.
1-1 isn't beyond you but isn't something I want to see. Well, unless we're 1-0 down and we have the ball 30 yards out with the referee putting his whistle to his mouth...
