^^^ Can't you tell I'm forced to watch the Bake off on TV. Actually not complaining my missus makes all the cakes, bread and all sorts of goodies. Bring some to the game tomorrow. We can give the lads a cake if they win!

Second post I’ve seen mentioning betting. I’m putting a fiver on a Brewers win. See what odds I get. Worth a punt surely? 9/1 is what I see.

Back to the match tomorrow, I see Benty could be a doubt, picked up a knock against Reading. Dyer too, still could be a doubt with that back problem. We were hoping Benty could face his old club, could be interesting.

If we get a point or more I will eat my shoes. I think you’ve just put your foot in it !! Maybe have them laced with something?

No point worrying about what other teams do. Until we can string some wins together it's irrelevant. Going to Villa park tomorrow with a bit of trepidation and hoping we can give them some sort of game. Missed last seasons game on Boxing Day so determined to try and enjoy tomorrow whatever.

Not comfortable listening is it ?
If you tell people constantly that they're not good enough, others are far better than you etc, then those people will eventually believe it.
Nigel has done himself no favours with that interview

I actuality thought it was a very good interview from Nigel. Balanced, realistic and if I were a player motivational. Something that would have made me turn to my colleagues and say: “Come on lads we CAN do this”. Why be so negative all the time?

We will have to agree to disagree then Mikeyboy. I thought it was a totally negative interview and you thought it was upbeat,no middle ground between us is there ? You think I'm a negative poster on here ?

Back to the studio the presenter said afterwards, an honest interview there from Nigel.
Can't disagree with that but as in the comments above, I do think what would the players think of it, if they ever watch it that is?

I guess it depends how the players react to it. I am sure that is aimed at creating a reaction from them along the lines of 'come on we'll show him'. I also think it was aimed mainly at the good people at Aston Villa and their fans. If per chance we do keep them out for 30 mins, maybe the Holte End will start to have a go at their team because they are not beating little old Burton. I also think that there will be much more positive words inside the dressing room including plan to try to keep them out and nip a goal if possible. We've done it before... That said I am not having a go at 7/1... ...well I might have a couple of quid - we're Burton Albion

My main concern is Villas pace.
Vs our slow defence.
Through balls through the centre of our defence will be the order of the day for Villa.
We need to be tight, and score from a corner. That's their weakness, and it's Ben Turners strength. Sure Bent can do a job in the box too.
I'm very very pessimistic about this game and can see us losing by 5 or more. But hopefully the Villa lads are equally optimistic and that will work in our favour.

I can kind of see both sides to the views on Cloughie interviews. I’m sure he doesn’t stand in the dressing room and tell the lads “look you ain’t as good as this lot!” Cloughie is an intelligent bloke.
Yet it can come over as negative ………………. Yet I think some will look for anything to pull apart. It’s how you read it. I’d probably like to hear him say something like “they have better quality in some key positions than us but they will never match us for effort and spirit” Perhaps he does?

He certainly doesn't dress it up, he tells it how it is. Most managers interviewed pre/post match will be diplomatic as they can be, it's good in a way we have him, straight talking no dressing up or waffle.

I agree, I would like to think he tells the team something different and really fires them up. If Villa players saw the interview they could feel a little confused, it looks like he is handing us the game, but I don't think so. Gee if I wasn't living so far away and not too well, I would love to be seeing them at the Villa. I have a good feeling about this one and the chance of an upset would be to much to keep me away. Just think what we will have missed if we win. If you have a chance to go, go. If we were in the conference not playing well and an f a cup match with villa came up the whole of Burton would be there. I am proud of the fact that we must be the only club in the championship sitting at the bottom and enjoying the ride, a couple of wins and we can be top of our little mini league. I went to Fulham with my young lad to see only his second game having seen a boring 0-0 at qpr. The impact it has had on him seeing the stadium, the noise the whole experience, the goals , albeit in the wrong end has been great to see, and he was watching my little home side. I realise it must be hard for you guys who see far more games than me and have seen a change in the way the team has been performing and the choice of some of Nigel's tactics and players but I have no doubt that every one of them wants to fight to stay in this league and I for one if had the chance would be at every big game like today as it might be the last time for a while that you have the chance to sit in a stadium as equals with the villa fans As our Villa fan said anyone can beat anyone in this league. Come on fill that away end with lots of noise. Coyb

Is Clough saying publicly the players aren't doing their jobs must different to fans booing...?
Booing is the fans way of saying the same thing.

I can’t recall the whole interview it was Tuesday which seems an age ago.
He went through each goal and highlighted an error. One was their 2nd goal, they had talked in training re corners and it was Lucas’s job to close down the short one. He didn’t, he was asleep and so………………if players don't do their jobs you will lose games. Can't argue with that?
