I believe that some of the staff are on what I would call normal employee contracts, i.e. that they have a 4 week notice period. I have no idea whether this is the case with Gavin Ward, but it is just over 4 weeks since Jimmy left. QPR will have had their own staff in place themselves who would need to be moved on Some clubs move everybody on in one go - some clubs do it gradually

And if either Rowett, JFH or Nigel get sacked in next 2 or 3 years all their entourage will expect to get sacked with them soon enough if not at same time That's the life in football When Ben sacked Pesch Rowett and the rest of the backroom staff stayed at the club. That's your theory blown out of the water Is Nigel's brother Simon back on the payroll yet?

You could argue we were very light on coaching staff side tbh All of a sudden top of League 1 but still with a non league coaching set up very much We don't even have paid scouts at any level as a club You could argue also that we have 9 mangement/backroom staff? Thats not Non league? We got to the top of L1 with fewer than we have now? It's all relative though And it's great news we are top of league 1 It's a hard balancing act for the owner to know how to move the club forward We know he will do it to best of his ability

If Pesch had been mega successful and got head hunted - his team would have gone with him Like the last two successful managers We gave Rowett the chance to step up to plate and saved the cost of sacking him That happens as well But we are moving out of that level Successful management teams stick together by and large Unsuccessful ones get sacked together by and large Nigel will consider himself a successful manager with a team he trusts JFH thinks he's put a successful team together and has tried to keep them and took them - so does Rowett - so Rowett took them with him So does Nigel As long as Summerfield and Oldfield believe their bosses will be successful they will stick with them Do you have a problem with Nigel employing staff he trusts? Or just a problem with Nigel? Or am I seeing something that isn't there?

Do you think Simon would only scout for Nigel if he was paid to do it or he would do it anyway?
I don't know the answer but I suspect he would do anything he could to help Nigel be a success here and if we ever got to a stage where he could be paid look at it as a bonus
He probably scouted for Nigel for free when he was last at Burton tbh
We have several voluntary scouts at the club who don't even get expenses
It's not all mercenary you know?
Some people just want the club to do well because they do

Probably isn't related to the first team ,it was just a thought ,just me being a bit mischievous . And for all I know we might not have one and it could be a new post.

I'm not going to over think these latest developments, these things happen in football. Nigel trusts his backroom team, fine by me. JBW makes sense to me.

I don't know what Insideleft is on about. I believe JFH asked Ben for the goalkeeper coach, and we obliged. I also fully understand why any manager ideally wants people he knows and trusts to form his management team. It is totally ridiculous to suggest that Andy Garner belongs to a long lost primitive school of non-league football training belonging to Gresley Rovers. This is the management team that took Derby County on at the time with limited resources to a high level in the Championship, followed by Sheffield United, (who seem to believe they have a divine right to at least Championship football, hence 8 managers in 8 years), to 2 cup semi-finals and a play off position from a relegation fighting position, which still earned him the sack. It would seem you think our new management team have been stuck in a time warp, watching new modern training methods pass them by. They have been out of the game for the summer and about 3 months of this season. You say you had faith in Nigel before. I say have faith now also, he has earned it.

Some people just want the club to do well because they do Well said..... I'm sure you're correct observer - during Nigel's first period of management, I often saw Simon turn up for games at some godforsaken ground in some godforsaken place on a cold and miserable winter night for a midweek game supporting his brother and the Brewers.....(how I miss those non-League days) and, as you say, any reporting of players he saw to his manager brother is unlikely to have earned him a fee......

Simon Clough was appointed as chief scout when Nigel was in charge at Derby and subsequently put on gardening leave following Nigel's dismissal Simon was then given the position of chief scout at Sheff Utd following Nigel's tenure there. Voluntary , unpaid work ? I doubt that very much.
I certainly don't miss non league football and would never want to go back there

Disappointing to see Gavin Ward go , but at least he hasn't been pushed out with nowhere to go to make way for Taylor .Not surprised about Binnom-Williams although he was supposed to be on a season long loan , he hasn't even made the bench for the last few games . With him and Remi going back it does free up a couple of places for new loan players if needed . Normally with season long loans there is scope within the agreement for a review during the January transfer window as there is no 28 day recall clause (as with emergency loans) with these arrangements. Most are put out as season long loans but in reality they are two half season loans. To be fair I was never totally convinced by him at left back. Too often caught out of position and seemed better as an impact sub in an advanced left side role. In Nigel we trust to fill the gaps in the squad.

And so far he is on 2.25 points per game... Your calculator battery needs changing. It's actually 2.5 if you include the Gills match, which I don't since Ward and Hornby covered that game so it's 2.33ppg so far. Not a bad start.
