If Ben doesn't already have someone lined up then Belly (he has his badges) and Sharps could get us through training for the week. And there are not a lot of options as far as team selection goes right now so it would just be a matter of keeping the players motivated for a game or 2.

No particular order but the following people interest me:
Mike Whitlow, already here doing a great job with the academy, but does he want to step up?
Darren Wassell, likewise but at Derby and the academy at Derby may be a bigger job?
Darren Moore, fully qualified coach apparently was coming here as assistant to Pesch before staying an extra year with Barnsley.
Phil Neville, a bit random but then again Nigel Clough was completely random when he came here. Would have thought it would have been more likely if he had still been playing.

I know Mike Whitlow is only interested in working with youth players and the academy - he would help out whilst Ben got someone in but nothing more.
Of the rest of your list Darren Wassall having met him a few times doesn't strike me as a first team type manager
Darren Moore's name keeps cropping up and sounds interesting either as a manager or an assistant manager
Phil Neville I don't think he could handle the hard work involved managing at this level

The rumours are starting.... From FB...Oct.20th Some experienced names being tossed about. IF he goes the next manager will be on a similar wage as Gaz.... wouldn't mind James Beattie, a young forward thinker with a willingness to throw his own money behind a club. October 20 at 5:37pm · Like · 3

No disrespect Funky but none of the names on your list excite me - but as I can't really come up with any exciting candidates myself, I will have to hope and pray that Ben manages to pull another rabbit out of his hat and that Mr New Bunny proves to be as good as those that have gone before ......

Steve Burr Nicky Law People with something to prove and decent back room staff and know how to stick to a budget. Steve Burr has a wealth of non-League experience but he ultimately came up short at Kiddy and failed to stop Chester finishing in the relegation positions last season - they're doing better this season (so far) but he did sign a two-year contract with them in May this year. Nicky Laws has done an excellent job keeping Alfreton in the Conference but I don't know if this qualifies him to be the next Brewers manager..... In a recent battle of these two prospective managers - despite the winner of a 2 v 1 encounter last week coming in the 90th minute, Steve Burr said his Chester team "played Alfreton off the park"......

Burr has a reputation for playing attacking football
Hard to know if that's something we need or not with this squad
To me results are as important as the way we play short term at least

Mike Whitlow has taken charge on an interim basis.

Has any player that has not played or coached a football club ever been linked to that football club as much as Steve Burr has with us, 25 years and counting?
I have nothing to add to this thread really, other than that we have to keep an open mind about appointments, as you just don't know how they will turn out. Personally Darren Moore as manager fills me with dread. As a player he was a massive disappointment for us, we were a season too far for him. As a pundit I haven't found him insightful. Still, he might talk a good game away from the cameras.

announced in the Mail Belly (he has his coaching badges) could get him with the training. Has anyone heard if Fenton (physio), Dan Sale (Performance Analyst) and Jack Sharkey (Sports scientist, physiological testing could be usefull right now) are staying at the club? www.burtonmail.co.uk/BURTON-ALBION-Gary-Rowett-leave-Brewers/story-23614857-detail/story.html

I'm not filled with optimism with any of the names mentioned to be honest. I may be wrong and in a minority but I think this time we need to look at a manager with a bit more experience. Why you may ask, well due to where we sit in the league and the stage of the season we are at. We need to push on and don't have the luxury this time of someone learning his trade. There will be no shortage of applicants of suitable calibre I'm sure. May be one of our current players in the latter stages of his career may apply, who knows but if we are looking for any sort of continuity that would seem the only source, that may be unlikely so an experienced manager who can hit the ground running is my personal preference this time. Mind you having said all that I was one who didn't want Rowett, but in my defence I didn't know at the time he was a breath of fresh air and very different to the Pesch regime which I associated him with. Whatever happens I trust Ben's judgement to make the best appointment for the long term benefit of our club, he is after all our No 1 fan !

I would want experienced manager with experienced asst manager tasked with promotion on a month to month contract and a decent bonus if successful then take it from there.
If we don't look like it's working then replace with young and up and coming manager with time to learn having written off promotion this season.

Michael Johnson ex Birmingham seems to interested. He's not qualified for the job. He's just an ex player who's coached a bit IMO

What about Paul Hart - currently acting head of academy at Notts County ?
edit Scrap that he's had a bad run as manager for too long since early success

I'm sure Michael Johnson was interested when Pesch left. I think he might have even been mentioned in that local paper of ours.
Could be a good shout, that.
