Didn't Ben say at the fan's forum that his original choice of manager had been Darren Moore plus another when appointed Pech....? Or did the odd half affect my memory... Ben did say those things about Pesch and Darren Moore. He finished though by sayimg that the obvious mistake he made was in not appointing Gary Rowett in the first place. In other words Ben is pretty good at finding good managers, but he can also make mistakes, like all of us can. Yes it was Pesch with Darren as assistant. Big Dave then had a great season at Barnsley and stayed for another year. Rowett was recommended by Clough and the rest is history.

4/6 now and there has been some recent bets on Phelan as he has just come down to 3/1. He had drifted out in the betting.
So looks like he's had an interview today as well
So Rowett not as big a favourite as he was earlier in day

With Mark Sale writing on the clubs website about Saturday's match I smell a rat. It is my opinion, manager, assistant manager and Goalkeeper Coach are on garden leave. What does everyone think? I've slept on this and I think Mark Sale doing pre match interview for Stevenage has been done to remind us who he is and the fact he is first team coach. On the internet he tends to still show as youth team coach for the club and can't find any official announcement of him being made first team coach. However in articles by Rowett in Feb and April 2014 he mentions Mark Sale coming in full time and working with the first team. I say all this because I have a feeling the chairman may be lining up Sale at least to be caretaker manager. Reminding us he is first team coach now and not youth team makes that a bit more justifiable as well. Maybe Rowett has recommended Sale as his successor to the chairman ? Clearly anyone who becomes caretaker manager has a chance of making the job his own if results go well. Sale is 42 (5 years older than Rowett when he took the job). He would need a strong assistant. Clearly would be an opportunity to appoint a strong assistant manager (maybe someone like Darren Moore as others have suggested) and also a new first team coach. None would be demanding contracts and chairman would have flexibility to promote a strong assistant manager to manager if Sale didn't deliver. That's my theory - the article is all about reminding us that Sale already works for the first team etc in case he's needed to step up.

Mmmm...Sale doesn't fill me with any confidence or enthusiasm! I think we would need to move quickly to bring in a good manager and replacement coaching team, if Rowett was to take Summerfield and Poole with him....which would be logical, should he be offered the Birmingham job? Sale is the obvious choice as caretaker but hopefully not for too long. I'm confident Ben will have one or two names in mind, just in case? Johnno - here's an option
Steve Burr is currently at Chester FC in conference premier
They are mid table - he took them over this year and they were relegation level last season
He's got a reputation as one of best managers in non league football
He's applied for managers job before with us
And he has an established backroom team he could bring with him

I predict that Gary may or may not be offered the job at BCFC and he may or may not accept it, if he accepts it good luck to him and we will find another manager, if he doesn't accept it or indeed get offered it we will carry on as we are, that's it really. I have nothing more to say on the matter (until something happens).

You are not really accurate with his record at Chester, as he took them down last season, but they were rescued by the demise of another club (was it Salisbury?). I still rate him though, and would be quite happy to see him at BAFC.

He got the job in January though when they were already in big relegation trouble Think it was Hereford or Halifax that had financial problems and saved them getting relegated (someone beginning with H anyway)

While we are speculating on non-League managers, throw Nicky Laws name in as well then.

GR was speaking on Radio Derby on the 4:30 news talking about the Stevenage match. It looks as though Mark Sale hasn't dealt with the media for the whole day as we might have thought.

I reckon...
Rowett will be appointed Blues manager early next week. Will take Summerfield, Poole and Sale with him (all ex-Blues as well) and one of the senior players in the Brewers squad will take charge until (as Funky says) someone of the ilk of Moore or Wassall is installed as the new manager. I'd personally hope Summerfield would be his successor but I can't see him not following Gary to Brum.
In an ideal world Rowett wouldn't leave but I think the prospect of Birmingham having an all ex Blues coaching staff will see them choose Rowett over Phelan and will be ideal to lift the spirits at St. Andrews.
I'll be amazed if he's still here for the Plymouth game.

Good news I think!
Owen Coyle now favourite for the job with Skybet at evens
Rowett now second favourite at 6/4
And Phelan 7/2
Coyle must have had an interview as well since Rowett
He was 10/1 plus earlier in day

The bookies rarely get it wrong so come on Owen give it your best shot and let us keep hold of Gaz for a little bit longer please!
