As they were unable to pay a compensation fee for a new manager, it is unlikely they can put together a budget to bring in players, despite that Rowett still wants to go for an interview. Very strange.

It's good to have something to talk about other than great goals, daft mistakes and referees!! (That being said the ref played a great advantage on Tuesday when he allowed Bev's to break down field resulting in a brilliant pass to Blyth and our third goal. ) But the individual speculation as to what will/could/should happen is interesting. Some people on FB are upset it is taking so long and say its not fair to Gaz or our club, could upset team performance even if he stays.....? Personally, as previously stated I think it would be a daft move at this point in his career, considering the state of each teams performances so far this year (we could be promoted, them demoted) and the state of financial and ownership affairs at each club (we are sound, they are in huge turmoil). And it didn't effect the team performance on Tuesday I don't think. But factoring in the personal side of it for Gaz it would be a big step up in his career and his pay cheque. (a Blues fan said Clark was on £5K a week). Plus with his personal connection to the team (as well as 2 two Kevs if he could take them) it is easy to see why he would be interested. He obviously has Ben's blessing and I would hate to see him go 'now', but I would wish him the best if he does go. I just hope that IF he offered the job he makes the best decision for himself at this point in his career. It would be tempting to go now, but more logical to get us promoted and wait for the dust to settle there first. But would the job be offered to him again under new owners?

I think that your last point is what would tip the balance really, as I suspect it did with Clough. If it is your dream job (or one very high up) and you get offered it, would you turn it down, whatever the parlous state the club may be in, with the hope you may get offered it again sometime later? What if the guy that takes it does really well, whilst you miss out on promotion at Burton again? The CV looks different then. But I think the rest of your post is valid too, so clearly it is not an easy decision. If he does turn it down (which looking at the odds looks unlikely), I would expect that he would publicly commit to the Albion until the end of the season, you can't have this constant speculation every two weeks or so...

My guess is that Birmingham City are interested in Rowett because he comes cheap. If they could pay the going rate he would not be mentioned. He has stated today on BBC that he will take the job if offered, with that statement, I would put him on garden leave immediately, he is finished as far as I am concerned.

Must have had his interview already then Fact is if he doesn't get offered there's going to be another club coming along soon And I agree in some ways the distractions this brings will have an impact on the club He may as well go now and us be put out of misery so to speak than this kind of thing happen ongoing There are people at bigger clubs sacked weekly and his name is going to be in the reckoning for most of them

The birmingham job will pay 150k to 250k wages
What do you think he earns with us?
I'm thinking 75k ish?

75k for the foreseeable future is better than 150k or more for a dodgy future. I remember commenting to a friend of mine when Nigel left for Derby that he was then no better than all the other managers in the country, only as good as the last result. I am sorry to say I was correct. Burton Albion is a safer bet for any good manager.

Thing is if it didn't work out for Rowett at Birmingham (which the whole football knows is a poison chalice type job at the moment)
Then he would easily IMO get another job leagues one or two
Meanwhile he earns double or even treble what he earns from us for the length of any contract he has
His job with us is only secure whilst Ben is chairman and he is doing ok with us - he has no actual contract to guarantee him anything
Overnight he could have a contract worth 300k to 600k guaranteed I would imagine
It's a no brainer for me that he has to take the job
Would only not take it if they wouldn't give two year contract plus if I were in his shoes
The jobs bad at the moment but it's well paid and Lee Clark was happy to do it and lots more would be if Rowett doesn't take it

I was surprised to read that a Brum fan claimed Clarke was on £5K a week. This means no player at the City is earning £5 a week. I doubt that very much. The job would be worth a lot more than that I imagine. No club is going to pay any player a higher salary than the manager gets are they?

I would say it's the norm for players to earn more than managers now. Lots more in some cases Birmingham will have players on 10k plus a week Edit Nikola Zigic is on 65k per week with Birmingham!

I reckon Beavon will be earning more than Rowett as well

Rowett now 8/15 odds on
Malcolm Cosby (current caretaker) has also just said he would like the job but he realises he needs to win a couple of games to be considered
Let's hope they win 7-0 on saturday because I think that's our only chance of him not going now as the others in the betting are all falling away by the hour

Interestingly it is first team coach Mark Sale on the BAFC website who has been interviewed regarding the team and tactics at Stevenage this Saturday. I'm not saying it seems definite that Rowett is going but very very likely indeed. Looking ahead we may buck the trend with a new manager, I only suggest this due to the club being in the thick of the promotion race, Ben may go for someone with more experience.

We have a history (under Robinson) of going for young managers with new ideas and a career to build. Warnock, Clough, Pesch and Rowett, not a bad lot.
Moore or Wassell for me, unless the Kevin's want to stay...

Or did the odd half affect my memory...

Or did the odd half affect my memory... Ben did say those things about Pesch and Darren Moore. He finished though by sayimg that the obvious mistake he made was in not appointing Gary Rowett in the first place. In other words Ben is pretty good at finding good managers, but he can also make mistakes, like all of us can.

With Mark Sale writing on the clubs website about Saturday's match I smell a rat. It is my opinion, manager, assistant manager and Goalkeeper Coach are on garden leave. What does everyone think?

I posted about this a couple of hours ago popside, it would seem the writing is on the wall ! Blues have stated they want the new man in charge before the Nov 1st local derby with Wolves. I could be wrong but I don't think an announcement will be too far off.

No although interview was today Rowett's not on gardening leave. In fact he's promoted one of our academy lads to first team squad and given him a squad number today.
