18th place - won 2 drawn 2 lost 4 - not where you might expect last year's playoff finalists to be but they have had a tricky start - Rotherham Wycombe Bolton Ipswich - usually losing by the single goal... They did put 5 past Cambridge at the Abbey tho and beat Fleetwood 2 v 1 with an 87th min penalty.. Of course we need to get back to winning ways (6 games without a win) but not losing and a good performance will help confidence...

Saw the highlights of their defeat to Ipswich. They got absolutely shafted. Ipswich winner was after their CB got a two handed shove in the back from their striker to get him out the way. Clear foul. Lincoln then scored a perfectly good goal which was ruled out for offside. Highlights show he was clearly on. If those decisions had gone against us I’d have had a meltdown.
Lincoln were one of the better teams to visit the Pirelli during our revival last season. Good young passing team. Beat us with a set piece catching out Carter (collectors item) at the back post. Looks like Appleton has made a few changes to last seasons team so they still may be finding their feet which may also explain their erratic form.
No idea what Jimmy does here. He’s hinted at changes and said he has “decisions to make” after Crewe (convincingly beaten 3-1 at home by Morecambe last night). Personally I don’t think he’ll touch the 4-2-3-1 set up. Lakin is an enforced change but I’ll take a guess that Brayford (I noticed from reports that he struggled with Crewe’s winger and Lincoln have got pace out wide) CBJ, Smith and Hemmings might be replaced. Leak, Blake-Tracy, Gilligan, Taylor, Patrick, Jebbison, O’Connor, Maddox and Morris are all now waiting in the wings…or maybe there’s no big reaction and he only makes the changes that are enforced? If he feels he needs to freshen things up then we’ve definitely got the squad size for it.
Agree with Everard. Not losing and a good performance on Saturday will do me.

He is. Got it sorted quickly thankfully. He was back before the season started.

He’s being tested now though. Came out in the local press and asked for patience as he’s lost some of his better players in the summer and also no matchday income has apparently affected their playing budget. I agree though. Tactically astute.

Leak and O'connor are a must for Saturday in my opinion.

Sounds like Lincoln have a few injury problems of their own to contend with at present. Their captain (Bridcutt) is 50/50 for the game and their two regular starting forwards (Hopper and Maguire) are out.
Referee today is Craig Hicks. Last time he took charge of us was the home game vs Sunderland last season. Sent off Josh Earl and was criticised post match by Jimmy for giving decisions favouring the big club. Should be interesting…

I must admit i have no idea what today's line up will be. Not impressed with the referee Craig Hicks. Was reading that Lincoln fans are planning a standing ovation for Michael Bostwick, he might not get picked yet ! Just looking forward to a decent game of football to be honest, a better performance and would be nice to actually beat Lincoln for once and get 3 more points on the board.

If it was me, Patrick in for Akins, Maddox for Smith. Also need Leak and Mancienne in somehow.

27 shots and one goal sums it all up really.
Morris is not up to it. Bostwick was poor again.
Oshilaja was alright.

Don't let that exciting last two minutes fool you - that was dreadful.
I don't know if you noticed but we played on two different pitches today. Lincoln played on one with lots of wide open spaces with arrows pointing the way to our goal. The Brewers played on a very narrow, crowded pitch with stop signs everywhere. They also cheated by having lots of taller players who found it easier to head the ball than our little chaps. If I were the manager, I might tell the players to keep the ball on the ground but what do I know? I don't have my badges.
Let me add my views to the long throw debate: Tom Hamer shouldn't even be on the pitch. In the three games (today, Gillingham, Cheltenham) I have seen this season he has been very easy to beat. I didn't see him last season so I don't know how good he can/might be so forgive me.
Time to gel. Time to gel. My new mantra....

We are still playing too many defence minded players in midfield, Lincoln's midfield had creativity and imagination in abundance. It is stil early days in the season but i learned a few things today, Bostwick's partnership with Shaungnessy's is not as good as Leaks. Morris is not good enough and too slow in his application. I think we have the players but we have not found the formation to play them. Jimmy has a lot of thinking to do and a lot of coaching to do when we actually have the ball.

Thought 1st half we had no pattern of play again but we created a few very good chances. Really feel for Jebbison as he needed and should have put his first chance away to make it 1-1, it’s a different game then... he had a decent game though and looks quality, it’ll come!
The midfield wasn’t right for me and didn’t work with Powell out wide with Morris and Chapman in there also. When Maddox and Smith came on who I think is carrying a knock? We looked like creating more. Oshilaja was my pick of our midfielders today who I thought did really well and is a better in possession than what I first thought. I’d be tempted to play him a bit further up and put Mancienne in the holding role and see if we can win the ball further up the pitch. I really believe we have the players in this squad to have one of the best teams in this league but I wish Jimmy would get it sorted hopefully when everyone is available again he will.
It was funny when their forward tripped over the ball when he was clean through! Sell him... 😁
