As above, Derby County have called in the administrators.
It's both a shock and no real surprise.

I thought they were weathering the storm this season so far……..and had a result with just a 9 point deduction.

I think what this effectively means is one of the recent failed takeovers can now buy the club with a fraction of the debt they would have had to inherit before
I assume it's another 12 points deduction on top of the 9 they were due to get
So going to be a league one club they are taking over!

What Does an Administrator Do? Administrators will handle every part of the day to day running of a club other than what happens on the pitch. An administrator’s role is to try and stop a company (football club) being wound up (liquidated) either by finding someone who will take the club on or by repaying creditors where possible through the sale of assets. In the case of football clubs, this can mean players, grounds, training pitches, or merchandise.
Similar to company administration, there is a hierarchy of creditors who will be paid in a certain order. However; companies must pay Preferential Creditors first but, in football, there is a higher tier of creditors known as Football Super Creditors who will receive monies owed first. These are;
Players Managers Other football clubs The Professional Footballers Association (PFA) The Football League The Premier League If it is found that the club/company does not own any/enough assets to pay creditors, the club can be closed down through liquidation. Clubs that have suffered this fate over the years include Chester City, Scarborough, and Darlington. Sometimes a club will be reformed under a slightly different name; Chester City reformed as Chester FC and Scarborough as Scarborough Athletic FC.

Norah as ADMIN. Morning . Strictly this shouldn’t be on the Brewers board as Derby County are just …. a small club near Burton!! … however for today I will leave it here and then move it…

At least they will have one local derby ... Forest!
We, of course, will be playing Norwich 😁

Such a shame for a team who truly belong in the Premier League & Europe. LOL.
This made me smile - still deluded..... "The irony is that the Club’s financial forecasts show the emergence of a financially sustainable picture. Absent the COVID-19 pandemic, we undoubtedly would have been able to trade through."
It's a shame the pandemic only happened in Derby and the rest of the country got away scot-free.

Dock them the 12 points ! It's doubtful they will survive but keep the other 9 point deduction in hand just in case they look like they might survive. Then if not used dock them the other 9 points next season ! Comedy gold from the should be in the Premier league and Europe club. I'm not enjoying seeing them squirm but then again I've been known to tell the occassional porky !

It could well be more serious than just points deductions I fear.

A lot more clubs need punishments and I'm glad Derby are getting hammered for it. How does a club like that get itself £60m in debt, it's a disgrace.
THey should bring in new rules where any considerable sort of debt at the end of the financial years equals points deductions, for any club. Some of the debts the Premier League clubs have will never ever be paid off.

When all is down for Derby, the gift that keeps giving, Stoke City, rock into town. Fair play to Derby for a result under trying circumstances.

Perhaps you could go and make the same joke to the dozens of people who are going to lose their jobs, both at DCFC and in businesses that supply them. I'm sure they would appreciate your wit.

After the intial hilarity, I started thinking from this angle too. The real joke is that is was allowed to happen at all by the EFL. If it was any other club apart from Derby, everyone on this board would be appalled how the fans have been let down by the people 'in charge' of the club. I also thought a lot about Nigel's time there - five years of DCFC being run properly, cutting their cloth accordingly. So it can be done.

Its the fault of the people who run DCFC that people will lose their jobs not mine. Of course i have sympathy with the people it will affect. However my comment is regarding the deductions. The people who run the club have tried to make the EFL look like the villains throughout this farce when truth be known it is they themselves who are the villains. I have no love of DCFC and the worse they do the better. Their fans are suffering due to financial mis-management. Unfortunately many of their fans still think they are a big club that should be in the Premier league and playing in Europe. They are not at that level and rarely have been. They will be playing at a level they maybe can afford next season. They treated Nigel Clough abysmally. They are also not the only club who have and still are living beyound their means, there are many. They gambled and failed.

And whilst the current Board are undoubtedly the authors of DCFC's misfortune, they aren't the ones who sacked NC.

That is a different subject altogether. That certainly is the tragic part of this. Yes the football club is comedy gold at the present moment if you don't like the Sheep. Judging by the chants coming from the Albion fans at Crewe yesterday there is little sympathy for them. Whoever has run the club, for many years they have done it badly.

Ah, I get it, as long as we stick to football we can forget about anything to do with the job losses etc etc. To prevent this becoming a Broomo/Royston-type borefest for everyone else, let me just say that you are of course entitled to your view and I'm equally entitled to be glad that I don't think like you.

Agree with that. Quite happy to discuss the disastrous consequences of the financial implications for others in a seperate topic. I actually believe we would agree on that.
