My opinion on this is that Derby fans have to take some responsibility for this as well, mainly the social media brigade, where for the first 3 to 4 years of Mel Morris's tenure they built this bloke up to be better than every other club owner. Local man made good, big Derby fan who had made his fortune in business and now comes riding in to town like the second coming of Christ and was going to take them all to the promised land.
I remember when their bitter rivals Forest were struggling under the ownership of the Kuwait businessman Fawaz who ended up running them into the ground and making them a laughing stock how Derby fans laughed and laughed and laughed and held Mel up as an example of how to run a club. Well look at it now.
Do I feel sorry for those club employees who will lose their jobs, yes of course. Do I feel sorry for the fans? Not really. You reap what you sow.

Best mates in-laws have had season tickets at Derby since Pride Park opened. Derby’s final home game of the regular season many years ago was against an already relegated Leeds who were either facing administration and a points deduction or had already had it. Can’t remember which. Derby were guaranteed 3rd or 4th I think so his in-laws brought their holiday forward to not miss the play offs and gave him his season tickets. I think our season had finished the week before so I went with him. Let’s just say the Derby fans had a lot of fun at the expense of Leeds United’s plight on that day including a few choruses of “we’ll never play you again”. Karma is indeed a bitch. We all know that they’ll get hit with sufficient punishment to make an token example of them but to give them enough wriggle room to come back stronger, a privilege that smaller clubs wouldn’t be afforded even if they went into admin through no fault of their own. They need to thank their lucky stars that they’re not a Bury or a Chester or a Scarborough and that they’re fortunate in that the EFL need them to be in existence. Otherwise they’d find themselves supporting AFC Derby in the East Mids Counties League. The game is rigged. The dice will forever be loaded. We all know it. They need to take their medicine, learn some humility, enjoy trips to Morecambe, Fleetwood, Accrington and the little club down the 38 for a few years before inevitably walloping more millions into their Premier League push under their new loaded owners in 2027/28.

Announced today, a further 9 points deduction with immediate effect has been announced. This leaves them on -3 points. A further 3 point deduction is suspended but will be applied if they don't comply with the budget set out in the agreed decision for the rest of this season.

Perhaps we should start looking forward to playing AFC Derby one day in the future when they get promoted up to our level.
...and there's no Robbie Savage to help as he's at Macclesfield so it might be some time.
(I apologise as I was raised a fan, but unless something dramatic happens... )

Yep , same here DC .When they were docked the first lot of points earlier in the season , people were saying they are down .But there was something in the region of only 16 -18 games gone and still something like 90 points to play for .And there record so far is a team that is playing well and would be in the top half of the league .Here's hoping that they have to sell there better players in the next month and have to play the rest of the season with the kid's ,although I don't think that is going to happen , unfortunately .

Presumably they would have to sell if a club came in for their players. They really do play as a good unit, and pass it around well. Never thought I’d be sitting here screaming for Stoke to score.

Will a financial plan be put together to satisfy the EFL that they can complete the season ? Potential investors will not get involved until the Middlesbrough and Wycombe claims are dealt with. Will they still have a stadium to play in ? Will the club be wound up ? Lots of other complications thrown in too. It is looking increasingly desperate for them and when you think things can't get worse for them they do. I always thought they would pull through this but thet have just over 2 weeks to sort this out and i am starting to wonder if the club will be wound up something akin to what happened to Bury and Macclesfield. Unimaginable and unthinkable you would have thought but definately a possibility now.
Whilst not a great fan of Wayne Rooney and some of his off the pitch antics you have to give him great credit for what he has done with the limited resources in a very difficult situation on the pitch to give the fans hope of survival. That may not be enough though with all the financial mis management and rule breaking by previous owners and the current framework they have to operate in. Makes you apprreciate what a fantastic job Ben Robinson has done for our club over so many years, never ever has he gambled our future and very exhistance. All in all i think the best outcome Derby can hope for is to have a team competing in League one next season with a points deduction but it is not impossible that they will be in non-league circles if things continue to go the way they are.
