This may be contentious but I feel it needs saying. Does it feel to anyone else that yesterday we pretty well crashed back to non-league level? Maybe to build again for the future? Crash back to non-league - do you mean because of financial problems or successive relegations?

Well i was thinking from a financial point of view sinfin because it would be unfair to think otherwise. That's why i said it was food for thought.

So if we've gone backwards so will everybody else alongside us and below us.

Crash back to non-league - do you mean because of financial problems or successive relegations? Yes in financial terms. That we are now cutting our cloth according to our income, size of fan base and our ground. I am not being critical in any way, just realistic that our fairy tale may be over.

So if we've gone backwards so will everybody else alongside us and below us. I am not absolutely sure that is right observer. The biggest limiting factor for us may be our ground. To observe social distancing it would be very unlikely that terraces would be allowed to open and that in the seats the maximum may well be 1 in 4 being used. That’s a guess but may be the reasoning behind Ben’s decision to let Nigel go. In other words crowds of a maximum of 500, I obviously hope that I am wrong.

Thanks Nigel and co for everything, good luck. I’m sure we’ll see you again. What’s Andy Garner doing? No mention on the website I still haven't seen news of Andy Garner's position mentioned.... Have I missed it... Is he going/staying?

We are one of the few clubs that made a profit. Albeit small. But we have low crowds, low sponsorship, but get the same share of TV money etc as the bigger clubs. We all know we already had one of the lowest wagebills. Will be way lower now. We didn't owe money to anyone to any major extent. I'm worried about the wedding and event money we will be losing as I know that was a big part of our income. Ticket money I'm not so sure of. I reckon our ground will safely be able to hold 1,000 ish whenever it's allowed to have games again. Outdoor stuff won't end up needing 2 metre social distancing long term. Indoor stuff needs that more than outdoor. And it's not what grounds can safely hold its what percentage of fans still feel safe to support If we lose 50 per cent of our fanbase who don't feel safe to attend it will cost us less than other clubs losing 50 per cent of their fan base. As they've got far more to lose. Other clubs will have more trouble with wagebill and will have more sponsors to lose. And I think next 2 or 3 years we've got some quality academy players who will come through that will help one way or another.

Have I missed it... Is he going/staying? Nigel mentioned in a couple of his interviews that him going protected the jobs of the coaches and they would be vital to have around as Jake learns his trade. I'd expect Nigel to come calling if and when he gets fixed up but it wouldn't surprise me to see Andy and Martin hang around for at least 6 months by which time Bucko may want (and be comfortable) putting his own stamp on things. Nigel wouldn't nick them till things were settled. It may also help him get a job quicker if he's not insisting it's his magnificent seven as part of any package. I'd expect John Brayford for one will be part of Jake's team going forward. They've been together so long I'd be amazed if Bucko didn't want him alongside for the ride.

Yes I do believe in that iFollow interview NC gave yesterday he was asked about the others. I think his reply was they are staying on to help out, so read into that what you will. Think eventually they will join NC when he sets up his new team elsewhere, can't see that being too far in the future.
On the crowd situation when we eventually get back to watching live football, one idea (if it's the wrong one, I don't know) is do not allow away fans at grounds. Clubs as small as ours can then most likely social distance better, use the away terrace for let's say the vulnerable /elderly who wish to keep a distance from the rest. I'm sure at our ground it could be possible with some careful thought. The rest, well at some point everyone will be at risk, supermarkets, pubs you name it when all the distancing measures are relaxed. I can't say whether I'll attend straight off again, it's a tough one and each has their own decisions to make on that.

Agree with Benny about no away fans being allowed (at any stadium) in the short term. Freeing up the away terrace and some more home seats should allow attendances of c1500? allowing for social distancing? I think matches would have to be all ticket if there are to be any left after season ticket sales depending on what happens with season tickets and whether or not matches might initially played behind closed doors? Seems there’s an awful lot for the club and the EFL to think about. I wish them well with this.

When I posted about no away fans it it instantly came to mind about what happens when you are told to stay away? Some can't help themselves and will turn up, they'll even get tickets and infiltrate the home sections Yes a good deal of thought and planning will be needed. I ventured into a large store for the first time in weeks on Tuesday, I usually sit in the car and the missus carries out that shopping duties. I found that some folk are already taking no notice of distancing, you step to one side but it's like no they don't need to do that now.

The social conditioning aspect to this is fascinating.
It is a huge issue for society moving forwards.

What a time because of circumstances my live game experience has ended and i want to thank the Burton Albion staff for the attention to detail, that made my games so enjoyable ,Nigel leaving seems like the end of another chapter in my life. The future means ifollow and sky tv , this virus will change many lives and bring sadness to many family's, i have had the pleasure of watching live far to many great players Best=Mackay=Greaves=Charlton=Law=Pierce starting from Forest winning the F-A cup in 1959 through to the great double winning teams of Spurs and Arsenal the Busby Babes, and the emergence of Derby becoming champions of England. Following Clough after his shameful dismissal at Derby and ended up back in a non-league stadium, and when i took my seat i went back in time to a bygone era, spectators standing on 3 sides and 4000 fans being a good gate. I had come full circle, from being a small boy watching Ilkeston Town. Little did i know the Journey i was about to take, Me watching league 1 football on a regular basis, but to be fair starting with match day hospitality. the welcome was first class and we soon was shown a spot were it was possible for me to attend games seat=car park all easily accessible for me. 5 years of watching live football and see this small club take on all comers was brilliant to be part off. beating Derby was a highlight, watching Barker come on after his horrific injury,i was there when it happend. The joy when he cleared the corner,Beating Forest, and all the magic of Cloughs return. So now its radio and this forum, with ifollow, Age means you do less, getting to Burton and watching live football something i never thought i would do again, was immense. thank you the staff and thanks to the people i met on my journey, good luck Jake i will be following you. radio derby here i come

I can understand why you might think that, Mikeyboy, especially with NC's departure still feeling raw and to be honest the same thoughts go through my head as well especially as changing managers for us happens so infrequently. What I would say though, and trying to put a positive spin on it, is that when Nigel left last time we were top of the Conference. He came back 7 or so years later and we were top of League One. Three full time managers in between his two stints who helped us move up two divisions so great things have happened both with and without Nigel. Clearly the circumstances in the football world are different now and who knows what things will look like in the future but I for one think that under Ben Robinson we will be better placed than the majority where lots of teams will have sugar daddy owners looking to make a quick buck from the game and will now be faced with mountains of debt. Let's all try staying positive and looking forward to the next chapter under Jake and it wouldn't surprise me one bit if we continued to over achieve and beat the odds!

As someone who has seen first hand what Trevor has had to put up with on the various forums, then meeting him once, I've grown to expect he'll always be around. I really hope I meet him on the next club forum of wherever Nigel goes and i hope it's not too long in the future. We may both follow Nigel but I think it's fair to say Trevor put his heart and soul into following the brewers and is a massive fan. I'm sure like me he'll never stop loving Burton and of course that part is made much easier with Bucko in charge. One of my real heroes over the past 11 years. Hopefully see you soon Trev. Keep safe.

Away fans will have to stay away simple as...and if they try to get in then ban them from all games for 12 months. That should a good enough deterrent.
