Thanks Nigel and co for everything, good luck. I’m sure we’ll see you again. What’s Andy Garner doing? No mention on the website

Still reeling from this news, but it shows the heart of the man as he has put the interests of the club first. Thank you Nigel for everything. You will remain a hero in my eyes.

Seems mutually agreed between all parties it's the best way forward financially for the club.
I tribute to Nigel, Simon and Gary that they leave still having the club at heart.
I wonder about the others, as said Andy Garner, Martin Taylor. Maybe they'll wait to see where NC ends up but continue for now at Burton?

I guess he was bound to go sometime. You've given us some great times Nigel. Thanks for everything and hope you can find a new challenge once things get back to whatever will be normal in the future. Good luck Jake.

The saddest and most honourable sporting news of lockdown.

Wow! Didn't see this coming but I guess it is dictated by the current situation and is a financial decision with the future of the club at its centre. In purely monetary terms we save on three wages and appoint somebody who is on the books already so from that side it makes sense. Reading the website it seems amicable all round.
This is probably a moment to pay tribute to the great work NC and his colleagues have done at our little club and what we have experienced in the last 12 years or so(probably longer) is stuff that dreams are made of and we are so lucky to have experienced what we have and that is mainly down to him. We had no divine right to expect what we got and we just dropped lucky(if that's the right word) with appointing him as manager and the roller coaster journey started from there. There are far, far bigger clubs than us who would give everything to experience a fraction of what we have experienced so for that Nigel, thank you.
Looking to the future, can Jake get anywhere near what the last three managers have achieved? I don't know is the answer but i'm sure he'll give it everything and I for one wish him all the best.
Goodbye Sir Nigel, arise Sir Jake!!

I am extremely shocked by this but maybe shouldn’t be having listened to Ben’s interview on Ian Skye’s programme the other week. Football at our level has a bleak future currently, for clubs that don’t want to go for or can’t get the Government’s support. I honestly can’t see a way forward for the current EFL structure to remain anything like it is now. But thank you to Nigel, Gary and Simon for the tremendous success and enjoyment they have brought us.

I never thought I'd be in the position where I'm genuinely fearful about our club going bust.
I really hope once this is over that we can really pack the pirelli and keep our wonderful club going.

Gutted and feeling very empty.
It's been tough enough during the lockdown as football is literally my life, pretty sad possibly but undeniable.
I don't know where any of us go from here. I'm not even sure I have the energy to follow Nigel wherever he goes next or if indeed he'll want a quick return.
Good luck to Jake and thanks to Nigel and his staff for the unbelievable memories and unparalleled success.
A really sad day.

Seems to be by mutual consent so as to save the club a lot of money. Suspect a minimum of £200k. As has been mentioned, perhaps less of a surprise given what Ben said in his Radio Derby interview a couple of weeks ago.
Suspect we will see Nigel and his team at a Championship club very soon. We should all be eternally grateful for all he has done for us over his two spells. I cannot think who else could have achieved so much with so little resources, both as regards players he has brought to the club (especial thanks to Simon there), and the league positions achieved. We have, especially this season, been treated to some attractive attacking football by some very skilful players for this level.
No doubt a small minority will be glad he is going. For the great majority however he will go with our heartfelt thanks and very best wishes. The manner of his leaving suggests he has once again, done the honourable thing and considered the best interests of the club.

The minority who are happy he's going won't be happy with his replacement... I'm actually optimistic Buxton could be a good manager. I wasn't his biggest fan on the pitch but his redeeming quality was passion and drive. Two important qualities for managing. Echoing the above, I'm a little concerned about our future. But if our future is in jeopardy, there's many many more teams who will struggle

some of them won't be happy with anything. Bucko is the same as every other Ben appointment. First management job in English football (with the exception of Nigel's return and the fact that Warnock had briefly managed Gainsoborough)

From the shock of hearing this, especially in this time where everything seems to be in suspense which seems really strange. It would still feel strange if he left the club in the way in the closed season than in does in these strange times. I fear for the stability of our club but there were will be many clubs who are in a much worse position than ourselves that will have to do more but even with that may not survive.

Walked out of work, got in the car, radio on "Nigel Clough has left Burton Albion." WTF.
I'm glad I came on here cos it's such an unusual reason (in the 'old normal') to leave a football club. I thought I had completely misread and misunderstood the message on the website.
Feel sad - Nigel's gone Feel scared - is our club going to survive? 'Sacrificing your manager' - that's not a million miles in distance from the final straw, is it? Feel worried - Jake? There again, I thought appointing Gary Rowett was a massive mistake. Feel sad (again) - Nigel's gone Feel stupid - previously I've written, "Football is stupid. When Nigel goes, so do I." As Winston Churchill said "The man who never changes his mind, never changes anything." Go on, Jake, let's give it a crack.
