As I suspected. Dominic Raab has said that resuming the Premier League will “lift the spirits of the nation”. In a YouGov survey of over 2,000 people, 73% said the Premier League and EFL coming back would not lift their spirits. 19% said they would be pleased to see football return. 9% don't know. Haha I'm a big fan of these stats. Money runs the world. I'm happy I can go and play golf again though 😁 Hope everyone's well!

Copied from what the Peterborough owner has just tweeted. He said he’s relaying it on behalf of Oxford, Ipswich, Fleetwood, Portsmouth, Sunderland and themselves ahead of the League One meeting tomorrow morning.
“We as a collective are united in our goal to finish this season. We have no desire for voiding the season, PPG scenario’s/letting a computer decide our footballing fate. For our fans/staff & for the integrity of our sport we are all looking forward to completing our pending fixtures under guidance from the EFL at a time it is deemed safe to do so. Thank you for your time.”
Andy Pilley, Chairman of Fleetwood Town, has pretty much admitted this will kill some football clubs but he says it will do more damage to football in the long run if the season is abandoned.
Roughly translated all the clubs involved in this can afford to finish the season behind closed doors and want a crack at the Championship pot of gold via the play offs.

What's this thing called football?
Seriously, I can't even think about going to matches and I shudder to even think my beloved Burton Albion will play without me watching on.
I know something's got to be sorted re playing the season out or just forgetting last season ever happened (cancelled) so let's see.
Talking to a neighbour from the next street, long time no see as you do on a nice sunny morning yesterday out for a walk. He's a Derby fan, apparently he's eager to buy his season ticket, he says they maybe up for grabs from June?? Good luck with that one, I'm guessing they are setting the prices/dragging the money in then not actually printing tickets. I think they have a scan one ticket for all affair anyway.
He was also banging on about the cricket season starting and his tickets for that.
I'm still worried about my holiday in September being cancelled 😥
Ok back into hibernation now, bloody marvellous when all around me seems to be breaking down I'm still following the guidelines.🤬

Well league 2 have all but decided that their season is cancelled, they'll work out the remaining fixtures with a weighted points per game system. League 1 they'll meet again next week as nothing has been agreed/decided upon today.
It rumbles on...🤔

It continually comes back to “those with money have the power”. I’ll make a wild guess that there’s two incredibly wealthy club owners in our league who will spend the weekend getting in the ear of a few other club owners and chairman.

Just done a story on this. I do wonder about the "wealthy" clubs though. Three of those six (Sunderland, Portsmouth, Oxford) have been on the brink more than once in the last 10 years, so while they play at being big boys and obviously have loads more money than others, how stable are they really? www.derbytelegraph.co.uk/burton/league-one-still-impasse-over-4138386

This is why I think it’s probably shit or bust time for the six who want to play on. I think they see the Championship effectively becoming a closed club as they get joined at the hip and sail off into the sunset with the Premier League while the bottom two leagues get salary capped (it has been frequently mentioned recently) and become prison for any “big” clubs who remain. It’s worth mentioning that in League Two one of the 20 clubs who voted in favour of ending the season now were Port Vale. They’re currently one point off the play offs and apparently would miss out if PPG was used. Their owner Carol Shanahan was on local radio this evening saying they were obviously disappointed but the health and safety of everyone was more important than football.

And as I understand it, Vale are at last being run properly. Could be wrong on that of course.

On hearing that League 1 could not reach a decision yesterday I have to wonder whether a vote was held. I assume it was, on the motion, as in League 2, as to whether the season should be ended on a weighted points per game outcome with the play offs still to be held.
We are told that only 6 clubs wanted the season to continue. A motion tabled needs a 70% majority to be passed. If 17 of the 23 clubs voted for it that target would be met. Wycombe Wanderers are not part of the "Dissident 6" yet have just as much to gain, or lose, as them, being level on points with 2 of that group with a game in hand. If they had voted against such a motion to end the season then the 70% majority needed would have been missed by half a %.
I have to wonder if that is what happened yesterday?

Also, the six (monied clubs) got together as a lobby; it doesn't necessarily mean they are the only six that would have voted that way. I'm curious how the six took Ipswich along with them. Some sort of old pals' act perhaps. The other five are 3rd-7th and separated by a point.

Just seen that weighted points for remaining games, as in League 2, would move Wycombe up to 3rd. All the more reason then for them to vote with the 6 who want to finish the season. Only the clubs with wealthy backers could afford the £400,000 needed to pay for Covid testing and wages for a further 2 months. Still the greedy big boys don't care if some of the little ones go bust.
It's all about "maintaining the integrity of the competition". Makes me sick!

Gareth Ainsworth on Radio 5 said yesterday “Financially, continuing the season would be a real stretch for us. I feel guilty even talking about football coming back when there are still 500 people dying every day. My job as a manager is to keep my players safe.” and ''It's really important that we don't jump the gun without making sure it's totally safe''. Also Nicola Palios at Tranmere said today they’d “be happy to play on but not at the cost of clubs going bust”. I think they stand to be relegated if League One follows what’s happened in League Two and go down the points per game route.

As soon as I'd posted about Wycombe possibly voting with the 6 who wanted to continue the season I realised what I had posted was nonsense - my apologies to all and Wycombe in particular!
A weighted award of points moving them into not only the playoffs but into the top playoff slot would mean they have every incentive to vote with the clubs who wish to see a line drawn under the season. As you say Anthony, seems clear Gareth Ainsworth does not want to continue or that his club could afford the cost involved.

I think they stand to be relegated if League One follows what’s happened in League Two and go down the points per game route. On a totally unbiased point of view, Tranmere have (literally) had their share if ups and downs over the last few seasons. So relegation won't be a complete panic for them - they've had worse and bounced back. Though that's easy for me to say because I'm not one of their supporters. Gareth Ainsworth - I love that man. It must be tough for him cos he's on the edge of something magnificent and it'd be a shame if they didn't reach the Championship. Along the many seasons, you always 'fall out' with certain clubs but I've always liked Wycombe. Good luck to them. www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/52680382Talking of 'falling out' with clubs: Port Vale. Well done, Carol Shanahan! Common sense prevails........or does it preVale?

If the season had ended 30 seconds before Aguero scored 'that goal', City would not have won the League. It was 99.9% complete at that stage.
A season cannot be determined after 75/80% of the games.
