Haha, we agree at last !! Even if some find debate boring :-) By the way what's jibber jabber ? Definition of "jibber jabber" Two guys spending an hour in the early hours of the morning debating a football player who will likely not even play a minute of first team football all being well

For me Bywater is a decent signing, Re:- Lyness, I think he will be back on the bench at Blackpool ( if he signs of course) when Doyle is fit again.

Would be surprised if a club in Blackpools financial situation would find money to pay for a keeper to warm the bench Tbh surprised they would pay a fee for anybody full stop

For me it is a good signing. Experienced goal keeper as back up to Jon is just fine with me. Wish Lyness all the best at Blackpool.

We are not just talking about a backup keeper for 4 months. We're talking about Jon's replacement should he get injured. If Bywater had been training with the club and Jono got injured is Nigel going to bring a replacement straight into the team as a starter. I don't think so, Nigel is not that daft. And we're talking about a still young prospect keeper who has up to 16 years ahead of him apparently.
People are suggesting he is going there to get 1st team football? How does anyone know that he will. I think Deano has some competition at Blackpool. Is he Guaranteed to play? Dean went to 'pool because both keepers were injured. He did very well there, but both keepers are now fit and Doyle was excellent here 12 days ago, despite still being injured. He had to play because Dean couldn't. Maybe they will sell one or both keepers? Who knows.
But if he really wanted to go he has my blessing. Regardless, I think we could have done better in the backup keeper department. Again, I hope I'm wrong.
PS: I hate it when people create their own scenarios by twisting someone else's words. Where did anyone's post suggest they "seem to want things to go wrong under Nigel".?

I've asked Earwig twice if he has something against Nigel now
He says not so that's enough for me
It was because he had reacted quite strongly and vocally to appointments and decisions made by Nigel so far in a negative way
Nothing more than that

Nigel is being Nigel, why have 3 keepers (on the books) when we can't give them all games. It's got to be the cheaper option to bring Bywater in and possibly spending elsewhere on team strengthening. Who really cares whether the team they have joined can afford, have a place in the team for them. All I know is Mr Clough and Mr Robinson have it spot on, look after the pennies and the pounds will look after themselves.
I'm also pretty sure if Jon McLaughlin gets injured they will have a back up plan to bring in cover should it be the case. One thing's for sure, decent goalkeepers must be more readily available, rather than decent strikers are.

Sorry to digress but I remember Ben saying that Nigel looked after the clubs money as if it were his own. Nigel is the manager, he has made good sound judgements here in the past, admittedly as with everything in life a few deals didn't work out. However he has been in football all his life so I think he knows what he is doing.

No one will maintain what this club as achieved over the last year, other wise ,it will be in the premiership in 3 years. Sorry reality check needed. J-F-H did a brilliant job,and the club moved forward, after years in div 2 reaching the playoffs, and the club, progressed. into div 1, brilliant.Todays position is unreal.J-F-H has moved to new pastures a team in the Championship. If by the meteoric rise, enjoyed by every one at the club,is a yardstick to measure the new manager with,All would fail. So anyone waiting to criticize the new guy, will be able to fill their boots, and show every one how out of touch with reality they are. Byewater can't believe it reminds me of Bruce Grobbelaar, brilliant all match then miz kicks a back pass to lose the game Very much hit n miss at Derby, good goalkeeper but unstable at times.Clough knows him well. But with Clough it is not today its tomorrow,he is thinking off . A short term deal with a young keeper not quite ready in the wings for the future. Lets hope Bywater has aged like a good wine-------If needed

We've got a huge huge job still on our hands to try and get promoted
Would be an absolute dream if it happened
If it did I think Nigel is as likely as any manager in the country to be able to find a way by hook or by crook to stay there one or two years and boy that would be a dream as well
The income that would create would set the club up for the next 20 years if managed cleverly and you have to hope Ben and his successors can do that
I class Nigel as a siege mentality type manager and a scrapper and that's what would have to happen in Championship
Huge job now though just dreaming to somehow get there but I think he is the man to lead us there and maybe even keep us there a bit
