Listening on way back from football on Radio Derby
Crowd announced of 4600
Both commentators said it can't possibly be correct
Two stands have been sold out for days which hold 3400 in those two
Which they have pointed out means there would need to just be 600 fans each in the the other two stands when clearly there's far more
No point us ever complaining that we don't get big enough crowds etc if we aren't going to report them accurately
I'm now watching on sky and it's clear that the stand opposite our seats has way more than 1000 fans in on its own.
Anyone who's recorded it take a look for yourselves
There must be a secret tunnel into that stand somewhere

I really cannot understand how Holloway doesn't think the Coventry goal was offside?
Their player who was inside chests it to a player who has nobody in front of him and he taps it in???
Disappointing. We didn't take our chances and if we had we'd have some points.

I think the best team won today. Coventry were much better at passing the ball. I think we were exposed up front . We're in desperate need of another striker/option up there. Thiele worked very hard but achieved nothing. The jury's out on him in my opinion. Not sure why Duffy was taken off, I thought he was our key man and best player up till then. Lucas was brilliant when he took duffs place though. Coventry are one of the sides that should be up there at the end of the season. If we want to be there then we need to learn to pass the ball as well as they do.
A draw would have been a fair result given the second goal probably shouldn't have stood, but we didn't deserve a win. Not that I would complain if we had .....

I agree with most of that, I did though think Thiele looked okay for the first hour and worked well with Bev. No option though off the bench after her tired. By taking Duffy off for Akins out wide it negated the option of playing Akins up top. Still on to next week...

Disappointing. We didn't take our chances and if we had we'd have some points. The guy who prodded it in for Coventry was level with the guy who chested it to him when it hit his chest - therefore no offside. Doesn't matter where any of our players were. If the ball wasn't played to a player further forward than the passing player it is impossible to be offside.

Reckon Jimmy was spot on with his analysis of the game. They were a good team and we just didn't do the right things when asked. Us when all the players are playing to their potential could have took some points today. Enjoyed the game, attendance, expected more and its debatable why. We move on, happy where we are up to now, better 2 points off the top than off the bottom I say.

We had the Peterborough "equaliser" go for us which the referee's assessor has since admitted was a wrong decision and has apologised to Peterborough for. Today we had that go against us. Evens itself out over time.
Personally I've no complaints about the result. I thought they were the better team and possibly had another gear in them. They'll be up there come May. I thought we lacked compusure and quality. JBW has been our best attacking player from the bench in recent weeks but found himself stranded at left back and didn't venture past the half way line all that much. Akins needs to start next week as well.
A special EDIT IDIOT who let the smoke bomb off. Make him pay the fine we'll get, please. Along with all the BANNED WORD that preceded this game on here (which should have been nipped in the bud days ago), a lot of stuff surrounding this game and some of the BANNED WORD I heard from our own lot on the terraces sum up everything I hate about modern football.
Ah well. Onwards and upwards.

Upthebrewers - I agree. El Khayati needs to start fighting for his place again despite his crosses being quite good today! Baldyj - Cheers for clarifying, I thought he was ahead of him. Oh well, Still 5th in the league. Onto the next challenge! Rochdale won't be an easy game either.

The lamented Pesch used to say that there are normally at least three problems for every goal conceded 1. We gave the ball away stupidly in mid field 2. We didn't stop the ball coming into the box. 3. It would appear that Macca went for the ball and then stopped. Not like him.. 4. Nobody reacted on the backlist to his apparent error.
So irrespective of if it was off side or not we should have done more to stop it...
This is a comment from a soon to be poster on the forum who is at the moment wise from at least a pint of Wentwell bitter in the Derby Inn....

Personally I thought Jimmy got it wrong both tactically and team wise. Thiele upfront was a non-starter in my opinion, we don't look anywhere as near as effective in 4-4-2 as in 4-2-3-1. I would have played Beavon as striker with Matty Palmer in the hole and kept the ball on the floor instead of playing to the strengths of Coventry's centre backs. Binom Williams is good going forward but not nearly as effective as Mcrory defending. Couldn't fathom out Duffy being substituted, personally thought he was our best player up until that stage and being the most creative. Fair play to Coventry but I feel we contributed to our own downfall today.

I am sitting in the Derby Inn with friends having what I might describe as a bit of fun compelling them... these will be automatically edited out of posts by the mechanism of the forum. Today I had a long and interesting conversation with the police regarding the forum and behaviour on it..more later.....ps regarding your query as to if cockwomble is or is not banned... not at the moment...

From Facebook....
Burton Albion 1-2 Coventry City. The result means nothing to me. What matters is that my girlfriend had to be taken to the First Aid Hut because some stupid Derby County fans trying to cause trouble decided it was a clever idea to set a flare off after our goal! Absolutely disgusted.

Thought we were poor today and have played much better so far this season. Coventry were a decent side with two or three very good players but I felt our players didn't really rise to the occasion?
Porky and terraceman make some good observations and I agree totally regarding the formation. I would play two up front against some teams but when you come to the sides who we all know will be "up there" 4-2-3-1 is the wiser option. Thiele worked very hard up there indeed but really should have put away his chances.
I was also suprised by the decision to take Duffy off as he was one of our best players? I did however expect the subsequent addition of Akins and then understood to move Palmer over to left of midfield although I thought Matty had a nightmare really? Poor free kick delivery and caught in possession far too often.
On the balance of play Coventry just about deserved it but to be fair, we gifted them both goals, with Robbie's suicidal pass and McLaughlin's dither. Fair play to John though as he went on Radio Derby to take full responsibility.
