A very poor day at the office today, particularly in the first half. I was sorry to see Maynard injured by yet another unpunished York foul but in all honesty, he wasn't really in the game. Not sure what it is with Kelvin but it looks as though he's the type of player who prefers the ball at his feet and we tended to get involved in a bit of in the air hoof ball, falling to York's poor standards? The introduction of Akins gave us a lot more life up front, almost immediately and to be fair we went into the break in fairly positive mood. The second half saw us almost permanently on the attack but a combination of poor refereeing, lousy pitch conditions and perhaps a bit of a lack of belief saw most of our attacks break down on the edge of the area? The York goal was a scrappy affair and seemed to sit on the line for an age before Sinclair bundled it in, very much against the run of play. Full credit to Adam McGurk, who I will admit to being one of his biggest critics. When he came on for the injured Matty Palmer, the general concensus on the away terrace was far from positive but how wrong we were? McGurk was undoubtedly the difference on the day, showing strong running, great attitude and some excellent pieces of skill, which caused York's ageing defenders a lot of problems. His passes were to feet and his running into space and quick feet led to several half chances, before his quick thinking combination play led to an opportunity which he put away with great aplomb to send us all home in reasonably positive mood. Well done Adam...that's what we need from you every week please. Moving on, I doubt we'll play that badly again but we do still need a bit more up front, to take the pressure off the defence, so Jimmy had better get moving on shifting out his no longer required players and finding some new blood to take us on to finish this campaign at least in the top three. Anything less would really have to be judged a failure and having seen all the other top teams, we should definitely be looking to win the division? Good analysis there johnno, thanks for that. Hopefully that's the bad game out of the system then. Good to hear that Adam and Lucas had such a positive influence, that's great esp. With injuries to Kelvin and Matty. And with Macca nearly ready the midfield is still looking strong.

My pleasure Peacock.
I entered the ground with a fan's view of expecting three points and left with the pragmatism of a manager; grateful for a point from a game we could easily have lost, despite our superior quality of player.
Onwards and upwards to next Saturday!

Two away performances that have not been great, however we have not been beaten and come back in both games to earn a valuable point and keep the points tally ticking over. That shows good character and boosts morale. A very useful trait as we chase automatic promotion.

I to did not go to the game.
So I don't have an opinion.
But I do know that it is not a clean sheet after 41 mins.

"Jimmy had better get moving on shifting out his no longer required players" I agree johnno and have been saying that for a couple of weeks now. With this comment from Lee Bell I hope he doesn't imply that he is willing to draw his paycheque until his contract ends if he doesn't get what he wants. He and Sharps have to take whatever is offered and move on in order to free up some monies. From Jan 2nd interview. "all I can do is try to look after myself now. "I don't think people would begrudge me that. I've not been that selfish up to now in my career, and it's time for me to be a bit more selfish and look after myself over the next two weeks." Like wise when you posted the non link about Sharps saying Shrewsbury are still the team to beat… you seem to be able to cut and paste and make a link except the one story that seems, from the headline to make Sharps out to be the bad guy. Pretty pathetic really... Only someone with a 'big stir-stick' would be suggesting otherwise

"He and Sharps have to take whatever is offered and move on in order to free up some monies. No they don't. Both have contracts with the club until the end of the season. If they, or the club, wish to end those contracts early then they need to come to a financial settlement. If they don't receive a suitable offer they are quite entitled to sit tight on their contracts. I want to see the squad strengthened as well and I hope the manager can flex his budget sufficiently to bring in who he wants.

This was one of the worst games I have seen for a long time. Can't really remember having a shot on target until the goal. The pitch was poor but the same for both teams. Really need the wingers back, and somebody who can hit the net.

This has all gone weird again, are we in outerspace or what? Funky - what? Hawk (cbh1) - yes they do, not part of the team so move on. Don't embarrass themselves any further. Cp - no clue what u are on about

Sharps and Bell haven't done anything to embarrass themselves Peacock?
Unless I've missed something
I'm sure they are waiting for a good offer and the chance to help another team

Well, Jimmy told them over a month ago and the window has been open for nearly a month. At 34 and 32 there will be few offers coming if they haven't had an acceptable one by now. There is a week left in the window and I think Jimmy needs those wages to bring someone in. If they just hang around drawing a paycheque for the rest of season or force a buyout, thus hindering our promotion chances, it would be a sad way to end their careers. Theoretically speaking of course. I think it's time to cut the cord.

Strictly speaking this should be on another thread but here goes, whatever Bell and Sharps do is up to them, they have contracts which we have to honour. If they are here until the end of the season then we may have to re-jig the wage budget slightly to accommodate others. We'll see what happens this week. If they are here until the end of the season then they will contribute to the reserves or if we have injury problems may have to help out the 1st team. Its out of our hands basically. Both have been good servants and at a time in their careers when careful decisions need to be made. Its only until the end of June which is hardly going to break us financially even with re-jigging the wage budget.

Only just got home after a long weekend on the beer and curry in York, which is a great place for an awayday weekend. Just a shame about their football club, crap ground crap pitch. The toilets brought back memories of grounds like Colwyn Bay and Hyde. How facilities like Boothams away end are acceptable in the Football League is a mystery to me. I too travelled expecting 3 points but was glad to get 1 in the end. We looked laboured apart from Akins and Gurks who looked the only ones liable to do something unpredictable. It was also another game where tho substitutions were forced on us again with 2 injuries and the poor(as usual) ref seemingly having a downer on Beavon, giving him no joy when frequently fouled, booked him for his 1st offence, and as our no.9 got a bit frustrated I think JFH had no choice but to hook him off before the clown in black found an excuse to send Bev off. Win at home draw away is promotion form. However if you have hopes of winning the title surely York is one of the places you would need to win at.

Absolutely not and I haven't suggested that they should be treated badly. But with a week left in the window I think it is a bit disrespectful towards BAFC and the manager to keep hanging on hoping something big is going to happen. If it hasn't happened by now the chances are slim. I feel safe in saying that some team has approached them with an offer by now.

From what you are implying then you yourself would take a wage cut or even no wages at all to help your employer out ? Get real man and stop posting such crap I get sick of reading it.

They are also our players of the season over the past two years so I think they deserve a bit of respect.

Give it a rest Peacock. You are disrespecting the 2 players concerned with your assumptions. The club is not being disrespected by the players. Sooner or later things will be sorted, and if the window shuts first, there is always the loan possibility.
