I sadly couldn’t go to this one at the last minute and resigned myself to the dreadful Radio Derby commentary. I gave up on it after 10 minutes it just is woeful. However I got a text from a mate with like views who said it was on Radio 5 Sports Extra; brilliant the game came alive!
Sounded an end to end cup game with 650 or so Brewers clearly in good voice over the radio waves. The Radio Manchester commentary team rated the Albion and it seemed we had the better of the exchanges with Temps, Broadhead impressive going forward and Bucko solid at the back.
Sounded like Boycey missed a sitter toward the end.
It’s a shame we can’t see out games but that’s football. I felt the starting line-up was our best 11 on paper. I know you have to look at it and think how can I get Narty in. Could he play left back but then you can’t possible leave Lucas out. Tricky.
The fixtures pile up.

Didn't go today but from what I have read and heard it sounds a bit like Groundhog Day where we are on top again, take the lead and cannot hold the lead for more than a few minutes. Seeing games out is what separates the successful teams from the also rans, harsh as that may sound, and the nearly teams and I'm afraid that is what we are at the moment. We look great at times and play some stuff that is really pleasing on the eye but there is a soft underbelly that unfortunately, unless it can be irradiated, will see us not achieve what we all think this squad is capable of.
Sounds again like Boyce has missed a chance to win it at the end and I think that two and a half years into his three year contract it is safe to say prolific goal scorer he is not. It will be interesting to see if anything happens with him January but I would be very surprised if anybody else was prepared to pay a significant fee for him.
It will be interesting to see when we fit the replay in now with two of the three midweeks already taken up with games and the other one being during the international break. Perhaps the Sunderland game will be called off especially as they have a replay as well. On the positive side at least there is the opportunity for us to have another home game before the next league game in December.
One final word about the away turnout of 650+ which is a fantastic following and well done to all he made the effort on a horrible weekend weather wise.

I was hoping for a bit of FA cup magic this afternoon - I was disappointed. The first 10 minutes promised a free flowing game, it turned into a dull affair for most of it.
Yes Boyce missed a good chance at the end. Edwards put a free header wide early in the 2nd half too. We should be at least hitting the target with both of those.
Nathan caused problems all afternoon. Quinn was his usual busy self controlling the game. I thought the subs worked really well today, both Wallace and sbarra improved the team.
On the plus side, we will at least have a meaningful game at the pirelli in November now.
On a Salford note...... I was disappointed with the experience today. I guess I had got caught up with the hype a little and thought it would be better. It's a nice shiny stadium with crap facilities and crap support.

I feel we should have won the game with the amount of the play we had and I couldn't believe Boyce missed that chance. He scooped it over the bar when it looked easier to score. O'hara kept us in it once or twice but could do nothing about their goal which was I have to say a great strike. Agree Sbarra looked lively when he came on and almost scored with a rasping shot their keeper tipped over during our best 5 minute spell that led to Fraser scoring what looked to be the winner. A grim day up north in a flat pack IKEA type ground which no doubt serves a purpose for current demand in league 2. At least we didn't lose and go into the hat for round 2.

Have to agree Fergo. Wasn’t overly impressed with the Peninsula Stadium. For a club that clearly has ambitions above their current standing I was very underwhelmed with what they have done there. Shipping containers for tea bars and toilets (which were locked up way too soon after the final whistle I should add!) and only building a 4,000 capacity smacked of doing things ‘on the cheap’ which, given their owners surprised me. It’s another one ticked off my list but it won’t live long in the memory.

What can be said about losing leads with in 5 minutes of taking them ,we have a goal keeper who keeps us in matches, but still we fail to capitalise on a winning position, our belief that we will start hitting shots on target,is already a myth, Clough knows Edwards and Boyces efforts should at least been on goal. Edwards for me is a nearly man,and should at least been on 6 goals.attacking mid field 756 mins per goal, Sbarra 266 mins per goal and he is a academy player. Listening to Alexander Akins gave their defenders a head ache, not our main striker Boyce. Like some on here, sign a contract or leave in January,i think we have lost our money, get what can, We can work out at the seasons end how many points him being on international duty could cost us in fixture back log. Playing on the front foot means hitting the target a priority. Because we keep getting caught out at the back being on the front foot. getting a draw was always a good result. But having our old failings of being poor at both ends. means lessons not being learned,or players falling short. Sometimes getting the best from what you got falls short. Good teams play bad but get a result.Nearly teams play well but fall short,i feel we are the second. If Boyce and Edwards had just hit the target, one of the efforts, would put us in the second round, If we had tightened up after going a goal in front,Towell would not have found that amount of space 22yds from goal. The brewers support on a miserable day in Nov.well over 600 was super, and we remain in the hat, well done. Clough can build good squads, playing the style we play, losing key players,to every club with more cash, just takes longer, and league 1 is still a big challenge. A win at the Pirelli and round 2, with £36-000 and 2 gate receipts, someone mentioned the teli..Saturday could be a good result

Not the best game or football experience really, a long walk to the nearest pub and no chippy's , Not a lot of excitement but we are in the draw! Can anyone enlighten me on what was wrong with the disallowed goal, I can't see anything wrong with it.

It seems the replay might not take place until the day of the second round , due to the Albion still having 3 players away on international duty (Tues 19 November) , and then we are due to play Sunderland the following Tuesday 26 November .

Could be an example of the new laws.

I rather enjoyed the game despite the perceived view that it was a dour game.
Just a couple of observations.
Great strike for the equaliser, but from my view (bang in line albeit a long way away), I think O'Hara was slow to react and did not move his feet quickly enough. It really didnt seem to fly into the corner of the goal.
Anyone else notice the standing area at the rear of the seats in the main stand? A possible solution for the Popside?

Guess there's a chance he was slightly unsighted, given that Bucko is beating himself up about not getting his face in the way of the shot...

He has a lot of skill of that there is no doubt. He also has a good footballing brain. However, he is not a battering ram target man and he has not been prolific goalscorer for us. Halfway through the second half I started thinking about how we need a Chris O'Grady. He wasn't a goalscorer but he was a handful, he held the ball up extremely well, he was a fighter and he made things happen.
The one impression I get about Boycey is that he hasn't really got the hunger. It might just be an unfortunate languid style that he has which creates an impression that is far from the truth.

Oldham away if we can get past Salford in the replay which gives us a great chance of reaching the third round and make a bit of money to put towards January hopefully.
