With 5th place currently being on 55 points(14 points clear of us) then realistically 6th place is just about obtainable if we achieve 2 points per game. With Donny playing at home tonight we could really do with them slipping up as 12 points clear does sound too much of a mountain to climb.
Concentrate on a strong finish to the season, see where we end up and kick off strongly next year.

We get enough points to overhaul them then we can reasonably expect that we overhaul all the teams between us and them at the moment as well. 2 points a game is automatic promotion form. With the position we are in then that's what kind of form we need to show. Football wise we are good enough. It's going to be down to the defence being able to match the quality of football we can play. Very big ask and realistically that chance will likely be gone in just a handful of games But would rather we think that's possible than be looking below us instead

Think of it like this. To get out of this league the guaranteed way is automatic promotion.
It's easier to show automatic promotion form for the last 15 games of this season than for the full 46 next season.
That's the form we need for a shot at the playoffs which would be a great lottery to be in based on where we are now.
So why not go for it!
And if we make it then worst case is some more unexpected money in the bank. Best case we win the lottery again.
Good things happen to this club.
You never know.
There's certainly no teams in this league I fear.

Time for the "trusted" Grimsby towns, thefishy.co.uk/football-calculator.php I know it's not 100% accurate, well not even 1%, but a bit of fun over a coffee and a custard cream, or a pint and a bag of scratching. I got the albion on 79 points with Barnsley and Luton automatic promotion and us, Sunderland, Charlton, and Portsmouth fighting it out in the Playoffs. No reason why not.

Very optimistic. 15th place finish is my prediction.

Now that would be something, an average of 2.53 points per game. A good solid mid table finish will do nicely this season, 12th?

Bit disappointed tbh with the squad we had The squad we've got didn't really start playing until the beginning of September and by that time we had lost 4 of the first 5 and against teams that if we played them now you would think we may beat or at least pick up some points. We have been playing catch up ever since which makes it even more important for us to get the squad ready from day one next season and not 1st September. As I've said previously that process started in January so hopefully we can get off to a fast start next season as well as finishing this one well. I think most of us would have taken this position after the debacle at Oxford at the end of August.

I'm reading Blackpool could be on the end of a 12 point deduction....after being put into receivership.... That could take us a place nearer the playoffs

I'm reading Blackpool could be on the end of a 12 point deduction....after being put into receivership.... That could take us a place nearer the playoffs Not at all accurate to be honest. A court reciever has been appointed by Marcus Smith, the judge, to oversee the transfer of assets won in court by Valeri Belekon against Owen and Karl Oyston, now the former owners, who had failed to pay it voluntarily over 15 months. There is approx £25 million outstanding and so the reciever will run the club and supervise the sale and transfer of ownership. It includes the football club, the ground, the training ground, the BFC Hotel and the Travelodge. It is not technically an insolvency event and the decision about a points deduction would be made by the EFL. Most Blackpool fans would however see a 12 point deduction as small beer to get rid of the Oystons and their NAPM (Not a penny more) campaign has helped the cause immensely. Well done to them!

It's not that important but I don't see what is not at all accurate in what the BBC report said, mikey.....you also say a receiver has been appointed and the EFL will make a decision about a points deduction (this could be up to 12 points I understand - or they might decide not to deduct any points I suppose)
