My prediction before the season started was 12th, still not seen anything to change my mind.

^^^That's a very big ask. I agree! it just seems very unlikely to get 40 out of 54 when weve only managed 36 from the first 84!! mid table for me now

Last year 71 points made the play offs. Charlton who finished 6th with 71 points, had 46 points at this stage. No one came out of the pack last season.
In terms of number of points that teams have this season, it is very similar to what teams had at the same point last season.
However, last season the top two really kicked on. If this season it is more even, it is likely 71 points will not make it. However, a good run of say 40 points from the last 54 would very likely make it.
I'm not sure we are quite good enough to sustain that. There is no doubt in my mind we can be as good as any team in the League, but I can't see that consistency.

There is no doubt in my mind that the current squad is capable of achieving play offs this season (even now). It would still be a massive achievement and a level of consistency and application which would far surpass the general expectation for a club and squad on our budget. On a par with staying in the Championship for two consecutive seasons in fact.

67 pts or there or there abouts is what I see us getting.

I agree! it just seems very unlikely to get 40 out of 54 when weve only managed 36 from the first 84!! mid table for me now Whether we can improve our points to games ratio in the remaining games of the season will depend how far the changes Nigel is making to the team (January loans and signings) succeed.... His focus seems to be on reducing our goals against but he'll also be looking for a better return on our goals/chances ratio too.... Let in fewer goals, score more... Win more games get more points... Simples... I don't know how close we'll get to the playoffs but it'll keep the season alive if we can get somewhere close.... Our attacking play 'deserves' greater reward... I've enjoyed watching most games, despite the frustrations, since.. (Like many I felt reet down after) Oxford away but we've played some sparkling stuff during spells on most occasions subsequently....

9 points behind, 15 games to play........ Chance? Outside chance. Was definitely doable, a few naff results have cost us, and a slow start to the season due to relegation. Key for me is momentum going into the end of the season, as that'll carry through to next year. If we do make the play offs our form will be obscene, and nobody will want to play us.

Good to see a realistic comment Ian.

No chance of the play offs. We are too inconsistent. And although it’s 9 points, Doncaster have 2 games in hand also.
We will finish 11-14th in my opinion.

I’m not interested in play offs. Never liked them in principle but I can see all of the arguments for them. Top half finish playing attractive football and building a squad for next season are admirable goals. Most clubs wouldn’t give their manager the opportunity to do this, so I’m grateful for that too.

We blew any realistic chance of a play-off position drawing our last two home games. Those two draws were the turning point (for me) for the rest of the season ahead. I'm not fussed as most will say, regroup and go again next time.

We have 15 games left,10 against teams above us,including 5 games against the top 4 so no chance.

Of course, less likely to win (or are we? We do tend to do better against better teams). Who knows. What will be will be...

Who knows, a run of wins could do it and it's game on, others will have to falter above us too. It's a big ask.

Need to average 2 points a game from now to end of season
That would sneak us in there I think
Which would be the form of an automatic promotion team
