Very satisfying display and result and to keep a clean sheet with the makeshift defence was great, albeit a bit it was fortunate at times. Fair play to Lucas, he gives his all and looked OK today but clearly when Kyle returns he will move further forward and after today it will likely be at the expense of Sordell. Some really strong performances all over the pitch today with Turner, Boyce, Fraser and Templeton the stand outs for me. The young players will benefit from today and are still a bit raw but it looks good for the future. You have to say that you wouldn't expect them to finish above us over a full season and although I never felt 100% comfortable what with their long ball tactics it was us who had the quality when it mattered. I expect us to get stronger over the next few weeks with competition for places hotting up which is what the new signings give us. Looking forward to Tuesday now with what should be a youthful line up I expect although not sure what the rules are in respect of playing your strongest team. Finally, in what was my first competitive game of the season, I thought the atmosphere was terrific which was purely a reaction to how well the team played. Well done all round!! First competitive game Ana? What kind of supporter are you? As I said earlier in the thread it's those family holidays getting in the way plus the Liam Gallagher gig last week. On balance, even though LG was good, Liam Boyce is so much better!! Was really a Supersonic performance from him and the team today!

Very happy with what I saw. Interestingly, a make shift team. There's much more to come from this squad. Sunderland the next league home game. Should be a interesting afternoon!

Wimbledon’s right back’s Y fronts must be back to front after playing against Templeton. He’s a massive plus to the team already. Quinn and Hutchinson are also going to give NC a nice headache over team selection. Boycey looked a little quiet by his standards, but he only needs to find the net. A very enjoyable game.

Good game today. I thought Templeton and Fraser's interaction was good. Lucas did well in his change of position. With more games played together this team can go places. Only negative for me is to much hoofing still.

Yes Quinn will be a good asset once fully fit, showed glimpses today and clearly a good experienced player. Great strike.

Jamie Allen was my personal man of the match but some great performances across the park. Thought the new goalie was OK, a bit shaken on crosses and he came out for nowt. Akins is a legend and in the second half at 2- 0 I said to Mrs Ilson (our 11th wedding anniversary today) “Boyce hasn’t scored yet”. Didn’t see a great deal from the other new loanees but there’s plenty of time for them to play a role. Up the Brewers. Clough may well yet again prove himself to be one of the finest football managers in the land this season.

If it's hoofing it out of the ground from our centre backs - no problem to me. Better safe than sorry with our defensive frailties so far.Well done Ben Turner.
Boycey can have some more "quiet" games like this one too. Created two goals, scored another. He was immense and their defence was terrified!
Some great performances all round and a foundation to build on.

Well that's more like it - was that Oxford game only last week? Blimey.
No one's mentioned Jamie Allen - that was his best game for the Brewers - the ones I've seen. He kept winning headers.....how? He was my MOTM until I thought about all the other best players on our team. Our passing was beautiful at times.
I'm glad some of you have mentioned 'not getting carried away' because there was a lot to be proud of but also a lot to work on.
Last week, I wrote comments for the whole team. I'll allow myself the luxury of doing it one more time.
G - Collins - he's very calm isn't he? A couple of weeks getting to know his defenders will make a massive difference. D - Fox - that was amazing, young man. D - Hutchinson - how I wish that shot had gone in. That'd have been the icing on a very lovely cake. Played really well - very calm. D - Lucas - what is there to say? 10/10 D - Turner- I get the feeling he LOVED being in charge of that defence. He smashed it. Big time. That's the Ben Turner I love. Welcome back. M - Quinn - Experience showed. Very good. Fabulous goal - very calmly slotted away. M - Fraser - anonymous last week. This week, he was always there, surging forwards. Brilliant. M - Templeton - he was crossing with both feet, I think. Great finish. I love wingers. M - Allen - see above M/F? - Sordell F - Boyce - there are no words.
Thought the substitutions were very well-timed, keeping certain players fresh and injury free. 3-0 up and we bring on a striker. Love it. Hesketh looks a great addition. The three subs just need more game time.
Someone posted this week saying "my overriding emotion is sadness." Annable? Today, my overriding emotion is 'hope'. That was by no means the finished article but it was a good start.
What was all the fuss about?
PS You won't believe me but I actually saw some people in the West Stand smiling. Yes I did.

Not quoting your post sinfinbovril, but yes indeed Templeton was crossing the ball with both feet. I appreciated that quite a lot.

There were plenty of men of the match. Superb performance all round and Nigel very animated. Lovely to see.
Also I thought the crowd offered brilliant support from the off. Makes such a difference to the team. Let's get the Pirelli rocking again.

This was our most promising performance so far. The team played well, and although we rode our luck in the second half, we deserved the win comfortably. The makeshift defence were just that, but performed well enough for us not to fear playing anyone of them again in defencive positions. Lucas Akins is the man apparently for all positions and never lets us down. Ben was a man mountain, and the full backs performed with hard work and pride. Really proud to support them today.Boycey is a defender's worst nightmare.

The whole team seems to have really picked up since we changed the goalkeeper. (Sharp intake of breath ) . 😛 We have learned a lot in one week Bywater was irreplaceable he was our only goalkeeper.Must say who has the shirt it is theirs to lose My problem he could not lose his shirt. Cannot post about today's game still on a high .Another game and we did not concede. And did they batter us ,i thought with giants and our defence without Macfadzene and Buxton and Brayford All good in the air. What a fantastic performance, and the goalkeeper gave a solid display, dealing with what came is way.I could not understand how calm i was l .

Was it the third goal that was a sublime pass from Allen and a trap from Templeton to die for before the highlights pick it up?

Good to see everyone enjoying the game today. Got too mention the youngers for their great performances and having the confidence to step up. Brad was comfortable in goal, Fox was determined and worked so hard, Allen had a good game also. But what a player Hutchinson looks, full of running, confident, but what really stood out was his desire to get on the ball and drive forward. On the left with Templeton he created such an outlet for the team. I've heard a lot about young Joe who has potential, but for me Reece is the best young player I've seen for a while at Burton, he's going to be some player! COYB 👍
