We've closed the away terrace a few times I think. Maybe against the likes of Dag + Red, Aldershot etc...but definitely a few seasons ago for a Tuesday night game Vs Exeter. I remember one of theirs kicking off in the club shop about it. "You can't do that to us...we're Exeter City" 😆 Poor chap had delusions of grandeur.
I saw a few Wimbledon fans on twitter moaning that the only reason we closed the terrace was so we could charge them more but last time I went to their gaff I got neck ache, couldn't see a quarter of the pitch and we lost 4-0 so f**k em.

Personally I don't like it when we close the terrace and still charge away fans the higher price. I don't think we are obliged to do that. Unfortunately there is part of the psyche of football across the country that does this to away fans. We are by far not the worst, nor anywhere near the most expensive. I don't like it though.

In all seriousness I agree in principle but we've been on the wrong end of it a few times as well which makes me slightly bloody minded about the whole thing. Morecambe spring to mind. Put us in the seats one year and you had two stewards on you if you did so much as look like you were thinking about standing up. They've bee decent enough to us over the years to not be on my shitlist though so I'll let them off. They're alright.

Saw the moans on Twitter. Clearly promotion and visits to the likes of Leeds and their prices would come as a shock. Also, imagine if they had won the match there would be less to complain about!

I think we should only do it if absolutely necessary
How much does it save us? £2-300?
Many of us like to stand and don't like paying more to be told to sit - we shouldn't inflict it on others... It diminishes the atmosphere It makes us look tinpot/cheapskate/desperate

I can remember the Ricoh, St Andrews mainly as they had huge empty stands. There's plenty more fallen giants that do it too. I can't imagine that many get riled, otherwise... It'd be open!

For those who were in the main stand the allocation of tickets to dons paying on the gate caused a load of hassle on the day. It involved season ticket holders and players family and friends being surrounded by away supporters? Not the best decision by the club tbh

We bought seat tickets on the day at the ticket office at 2:30pm. No queues and served very quickly. No issues at the turnstiles or in taking our seats.

Things must be going better if we're debating whether or not we should have opened the away end for a handful of Wimbledon fans

Which is an absolute disgrace.
Grown men not being able to sit next to each other at a football match because one supports one team and the other doesn't.
Only football.
Neanderthals.
Argue, disagree, occasionally have heated exchamges but then shut up, watch the game, shake their hand and have a chat with them on the way back to the car.
Anyone who wants to hit someone over a difference of opinion over a game is absolute scum.
No other sport has this issue.

No doubt a very very high percentage is alcohol fuelled I don't think I've seen many football fans capable of drinking more than a real group of dedicated rugby boys. They all get on fine. Scum is scum whether alcohol is involved or not. I'm so lucky I'm a happy drunk. Give me a couple of beers and I love everyone. Apart from John Aldridge, he's a censored.word and always will be, 73 vodkas woulnt make me love him.

Shutting the away terrace seemed like a good move yesterday. This might happen regularly this season for teams with not particularly big supports. Makes sense as overheads are reduced, less stewards, bar staff etc. It's the first time I've seen us do that... I even remember in, I think, league two (maybe one) when we played Oxford and there were only about 30-40 in that terrace, first time I've seen it empty. Wimbledon fans were good fans imo. Surprised if that was Oxford NG, they’re one of the better supported clubs (volume wise) across the bona fide L1/L2 clubs in terms of away support generally, and not too far away. Certainly teams like Carlisle/Morecombe massive distance Tuesday nighters or whatever were sparse but I don’t think Oxford would’ve been one?

I think it was, but there was a big crash in Oxford that day so I think many gave it a miss, if I remember rightly

It diminishes the atmosphere It makes us look tinpot/cheapskate/desperate Much more I’d say, 12 stewards, 8 turnstile staff, 4 programme sellers and 10 tea bar staff, but the big one would be the extra policing required. Maybe £1500+ - Reece Hutchinson and Ben Fox’s wages.

Not sure what my take is. I’m a fan of watching the game from the side of the pitch.Well in truth I'm a fan who would really like to watch the game from wherever I want! At Accrington this Saturday 200 or so of us will be herded on the small open terrace at one end. I’m sure if they invited us or me to sit in the Main Stand I’d welcome it?! Why don’t we release the seats in our Main Stand for home fans and put all away fans on the terrace behind the goal like we invariably are expected to do.

The club must be over the moon all is well on the pitch a patched up team win 3--0 ,and we can now discuss were a few Wimbledon fans watch the match. In a ideal world home fans would fill behind both goals, and away fans would be put in a corner were we can drown out their chants and singing, £22 pound to visit a x championship club and experience the Pirelli Stadium in the main stand is a bargain. Wimbledon like Burton dont have many fans, So they should embrace the status they have achieved on the field. The problem is the home team rely on gate receipts as part of their income. So having the opportunity, to close the away end does not suit the club----Much better Sunderland all away tickets sold out over 1700 6 days ago. will we sell out,one day perhaps, then maybe the manager and club can move forward, and league 1 status a given right for our fans. Meanwhile we can be amazed how a team can just perform with so many key players out, cannot believe we won 3=0

Did anyone notice Temps attempt at an flying overhead kick in the first half?! Was coming at him a bit fast to be fair. If that one had gone in we would be talking about it for years!
