Reading a book on Revie it astounded me how astute the tactics were. Every team has a good spell, and they took it in turns to feign injury just to stop, the flow of the game, and disrupt the opposition. Also a good ploy was to take it in turn to whack the best opposition player, To slow him down, mix it so the ref does not see one player being aggressive. Also keep on the refs back ,so he questions every decision and loses concentration ,and the crowd gets hostile, Apparently their is more to football, than we fans think You know that thing where you stand in front of a goalkeeper at a corner - obstruction that doesn't count. Jack Charlton invented that. He was mucking about at training with his brother Sir Bob and Bob was in goal. Jack did it to piss him off and it worked. A bystander shouted "Hey Jack, you should try that in a match." Sad day. I might start watching cricket. Which reminds me, when the Bodyline thing took off in the 1930's, although it was playing with the rules, it was banned by the authorities. Football is so far behind. Last night, Question of Sport was on the TV - a 25th anniversary of the Premier League. 25th anniversary of the death of football. It's three days after the game and I'm still angry. There again, I'm still angry about Lee Hughes on Boxing Day a few years ago. I really should get a life... Yep, I think I might start going to the cricket.

Did you see that Leeds have a specialist ‘Set Piece Coach’ - a mean looking Italian geezer? I didn't see him but heard about him. I watched the set piece goal of Leeds, it certainly had Steve wound up, it worked though, excellent kick. Their two players who stood offside and clearly would have been interfering with play/sight of the keeper, very quickly retreated back to "the wall" as the ball was struck, well worked. My thoughts on these type of situations, why not have a man on each post (us) those are the areas exposed? As soon as you put a defender on the post, as well as the goalkeeper on the line, those attacking players stood in front of the keeper become ONSIDE and can stand where they want to disrupt the keeper.

Was away for Xmas so only watched the game late last night. Strange watching it knowing the result and not really feeling any of the emotion and angst toward Leeds I’m sure I would have at the game.
For all our spirit and endeavour I thought Leeds edged it. Two clinical finishes did it and that has been the story against so many of these big spending ex bigger clubs. Marvin turned and it went wide. Allen got into the box and blazed wide. We didn’t have a 2nd goal in us.
I don’t think anything I saw was the dirty Leeds of old but it was a Leeds side full of whingeing foreign players. Can’t change that. I did think the free kick was brilliant, within the laws of the game so no problem.
We have to go again v Norwich.

The Leeds of today are just a bunch of nancy boys in comparison with The seventies team of Bremner, Giles, Hunter etc.
