Guys we have just been whupped by a very good team, as I said earlier with a fan base 40-50 times our own. They were the leading British club for many years but we are now up there and competing on equal terms with them. Our manager worked a miracle to keep us up last season and has done his damndest to build a squad to repeat that in 2017/18 - now is the time to stand together and try to build on that. It's not the time for criticism and the slagging of individual players. If we had lost 5-0 to Farsley Celtic we could complain but this was Leeds United. Come on you Brewers!!

Well I don't think either of us expected that! That was a strange strange game I've not seen a game so one sided in along time especially at Elland Road. I'm not sure how well we'll do against sides more comfortable on the ball but against sides that are not great on the ball under pressure I think we're going to create a lot.
I'm trying to not be too negative towards your team but it really seemed like you had a lack of players comfortable on the ball or actually looking to receive it. So when you defended one of our attacks your only option was to give it back to us and we started our attack again. I imagine with Irvine and Murphy the ball wouldn't have come back so quickly each time.
Best of luck for the rest of the season, hope you do well.

Im just a bit concerned that we have changed the defence which was our rock. New keeper new centrd back new left back and we look worse? We went to cardiff in the cup who hadnt lost a game and won but today 3 of oud back 5 had a combined age if 107. I want to believe but i have watched a lot of football and think we are worse for the changes?

I am sorry to have to report that I thought that was a totally gutless and spineless performance. I was embarrassed. Each attack was like a knife through butter. It was as if football had become a contactless sport. It was a game for harrying, for nipping away at heels, for pressurising them on the ball, for putting in some stern but fair tackles to show them they were in for a game.
As much as Leeds were good, we were absolutely pathetic. I accept that they were better than us and that we would always be likely to lose to that quality but we didn't show any fight. Worryingly I think a few threw in the towel early today and some didn't seem to have the spirit of last season about them too. However, it is only 1 game and there were only 3 points at stake.
Leeds - 30 shots, 10 on target. Us - 1 shot, 0 on target.

I imagine with Irvine and Murphy the ball wouldn't have come back so quickly each time. Best of luck for the rest of the season, hope you do well. This is going to sound a bit daft after we've just conceded 5 but all of the goals came at the wrong time. We gave the ball away right from the off, your crowd was really up and it looked like (for the first time I can remember from this Burton side) we froze. Akins and Scannell needed to keep hold of the ball and give us time to play our way into the game. They did the opposite. Your attacking play was too fast and lever for us, we didn't help ourselves by continuously giving it back to you on the edge of our own box but that's 'cos your attacking midfielders and strikers were all over us, we panicked. The first goal had been coming, the second goal killed us, the pen was a joke and then we all went into our shell. I've never seen that from us in a game before. No-one wanted the ball. Not one player brave enough to come and get it, to keep hold of it. It was like we knew we were going to get murdered and accepted it. There weren't really even many if any meaty challenges when your lot started running rings round us. I hate to say this and I hope i'm wrong, but it looked liked we bottled it. The centre forward is going to be a big player for you. He looks really strong, holds it up well, wins his challenges and looks to get on the end of everything in the box. His header was cleverer than it looked, a really good finish. You can't argue with the way the new signings have started, am I right in thinking all 3 of your forwards scored on their debut, (apart from the sub today?) Hernandez getting his goal and Phillips adding another to keep his good start going. It couldn't have gone any better for you. We gave you way too much space to play, the Roofe goal being another example of us standing off. To be fair at that point you really looked like scoring every time you wanted to, Saiz's flick and cross was genius. He looks a real player. I don't know what to think about our performance. We do know that for us to get anything out of games, all 11 of our players (plus subs) have to be at the top of their games, even then sometimes we'll meet a side like Leeds who are simply too good. Today 6,7 or maybe even 8 of our lads had shockers. I'm just pleased they all had an off day together and hope it's out of our system. Like I said though, you were bright right from the off, we never got on the front foot at all but that's as much down to you being very very good as us being awful. Keep that kind of performance up and you'll go up as champs. It won't matter how good the other side is when you've got the attacking options you look to have.

I suppose that there are a few facts about today that are quite significant with regards our performance.
- The Beard hasn't kicked a ball yet this season probably. - The back 4 haven't played as a unit before. - Lots of new players needing time to gel. - Joe Mason probably hasn't played much this season before that last game substitute appearance. - Big step up for Jamie Allen today.

Sounds to me like it was a perfect storm today. I gather most of our team didn't turn up and they came across a potential Premier League team in waiting that didn't underestimate us. I think this is what happens when a very, very good team doesn't expect us to just roll over like many before have done.

I disagree we only lost 3 points today - I think we threw away a 4th point. Look at our Goal difference! At the end of the season, that could come back to spank us quite hard. It's going to take a long time to pull those five goals back.
However, remember last season, when we capitulated against Brentford at home. Was it 5-3?
We came back stronger. I expect us to take it out on Fulham.
PS Seeing as it has been mentioned once or twice, I'll wade in: Bucko & Warnock (especially, for me) have not improved our defence - IMO.

Give it a month and we will have a much better idea of how we stand and where we are heading

I've got my own feelings about the team, the line up but I'll hold off for now. Easy to say afterwards I know, but for now onwards and hopefully upwards.
Remember we had days like this last season and just in another couple of games things looked a whole lot rosier. We need to keep the faith, after all it's early days.
Liverpool got spanked today, so did Hull by the same score last night, they will all move on and get better after the disappointment.

I don't think we had any days as bad as this last year! The cornerstone of our success has been the consistency and strength of our defence. We look nowhere near as strong this year. Losing Mous is s big mistake imo and McLaughlin going weakens us. After such promise last year from the spirit our players showed week in and week out. I don't believe we ever created so little and the stomach for the fight was lacking today. I can't blame Kyle for the frustration he showed today. He's playing out of position and he needs to be kicking centre forwards up in the air (metaphorically of course!) not looking for a Hoddle 60 yarder. I don't post often, but gutted about today. We tend to respond well to dents to our pride, so bring on the Canaries and hopefully I'll be singing a different tune!!

It’s part of supporting football to discuss team selection, players, signings, the game and so on. I’ve spent a couple of hours this evening in The Bridge doing just that, I was disappointed with this afternoon on many aspects.
However we all know the constraints surrounding our club, where we are and what we’re trying to do.
I cannot see how it helps using social media such as this to start questioning individuals, team selection, the manager and so on, so early in the season if at all. Give it a rest. We’re all in this together, so get behind the club.
Leeds are one of the biggest clubs in this country and were brilliant today. We are possibly the smallest club in the EFL.

I may be a dreamer but I suspect NC has focused on N.C.FC. For this week's points! Let's hope so!

Fair points well put as always IL. I'll refrain from having a little dig at kyle every now and then, it's not on. He does his best week in week out and his best is usually plenty good enough. We'll nick a point at Norwich, sneak out of the bottom 3 and all will be well again. COYB.

It was painful listening to the game in the car on Radio Derby. No real positives from the game but surely Naylor should have started in the defensive midfielder role in Murphy's absence rather than McFadzean. Agree that Warnock / Buxton have not really strengthened the team. Warnock is past it IMO, and is Buxton better than Mouse? Mouse had some pace at least. It might take NC a while to find his best team though with all the new arrivals. NC has done his best as we cannot go out and spend £m's on a player like virtually every other Championship team. Need to keep this in perspective as Leeds are probably one of the best sides we shall meet this season. Like last season forget it and move on.

Just noticed there's an abnormal amount of people viewing this message board today. Clocked over 300 not long ago when it's normally around 20/25. I'm guessing most are here to see a meltdown but instead they've got a bunch of level headed people talking about their football club.
Those frequent moments when we rise above people's expectations of us...
