looking forward to the yellow brick wall .last match against them 105 million on the bench .A good test for our defenders, and should give us valuable expertise against top players in our fight to stay up. 50.000 refs means we wont get a penalty. They will expect one if they have difficulty in scoring,The whole concept of the football world. will expect a Newcastle win by hook or by crook ,Lucky if we finish with a full team. Nice to be back in Burton on sat,Aston Villa Be good to welcome the lads back.and try to protect our 4 point cushion

Strange goings on at St James park, penalty awarded to Newcastle and scored but it's still 0-0 figure that one out.
The ref awards a free kick to the Brewers instead to the side of the pen area WFT!

Posting this a we're one nil down, but to be honest tonight's result doesn't really matter, of course it would be fantastic to sneak a point!! What is unreal from my point of view is the strength of our bench. No place for Matty, Chris O'G, Williamson, Barker, Marcus Harness, Will Miller and yet still it's packed with some real quality (by our standards). Please, please let us stay up, it's going to be really exciting to see Nigel add to this squad in the summer. They're going to have to be very decent player to be better than what we've got out there tonight.

1-0. Decent result. The team can take positives from that.
Lets beat the Villa...!

1-1 aggregate and 3 points after playing the top 2. We'd have taken that without a doubt.

I'd have settled for a 1-0 before we started. After last night's results, it's a good result. How a defeat can be good, I don't know but IT IS.

Great effort by our lads and at least the goal difference hasn't taken a hammering which it had the potential to do in a game like this one.
On another positive note I bet Huddersfield fans are even more fed up with us especially after their big win tonight. I bet their fans are starting another anti Burton thread on their forum as we speak!
Our position has definitely improved over the last 2 games with two very hard games out the way and our rivals struggling. Finishing line is close but still work to do.
We go again on Saturday. COYB!!!

Proud of each and every one of those players tonight. Gave a great account of themselves. If we battle like that for the remaining games then we'll have no problems staying up.

Yet another gritty performance. I thought we might have held on. Great support tonight in massive numbers. Still unbelievable that I saw little Burton Albion play at St James' Park.

If someone can paste it there are a couple of things on .sky concerning their penalty.. I can't paste them as my iPad is playing up. Nothing to do with being in the pub post game of course.
But heads held high. A cracking performance from the lads. Proud to be a Brewer. Villa is the important game now.

Nothing from Sky but the reports on Twitter are that Keith Stroud has come out and apologised for making an incorrect decision in disallowing the penalty. He misinterpreted the rules, and thought it should be a free kick rather than a goal to Newcastle.
I must say - it's a severe lapse... pretty sure everyone knows it's a retake for encroaching.

For once fans were entirely accurate in suggesting "you don't know what you're doing". Or perhaps the chant should now be "you're having a lapse of concentration".

It was a harsh penalty award, Gale seemed to go down in stages, seen it before from him.
Anyways it's over, on to Sat, won't cry over losing tonight.

COYB!!! Yes the Huddersfield fans have a thread about the penalty incident. One smart arse couldn't resist... "Did Burton try to ref the game? Were they in the refs ear all the time? Moaning about free kicks and stealing ground. Did they time waste from very early on? Did Young Clough try to tell the officials where your free-kicks and throw-ins should be taken? Horrible side." Following the refs apology for wrongly awarding a free kick to us from that penalty ive just read this on the NUFC forum
"If we had drawn or lost apparently the match would have been replayed from the point the decision was made with us restarting play with the penalty being retaken"
That would have been gutting to play through to a draw or score a last minute equaliser last night then have to replay with them starting with a penalty
Assuming the poster on NUFC forum has correct info?
Last night throughout the game I had a strong feeling we were going to get a result (right up to the end of the game)
We are really punching above our weight and I feel confident we will get the points we need to stay up.
I think the mentality and attitude is stronger than at our relegation rivals

No precedent in English football for replaying anything because of a refereeing mistake.
