I still look at the footings that were put in place opposite the North stand and wonder if that/they will ever get finished. We could have had a bigger car park. I think the plan was to build a hotel/pub there, was it not? I'm probably wrong but I had heard that a number of years ago. It would be a great spot for a fans clubhouse as well. But is the new training facilty/4G pitch not going in there? I assumed it was but again ?? I think you are correct in all aspects there sir.

The 4G pitch is going where the training pitch was originally planned. It has floodlight pylons that define its shape. The footings are in a separate area adjacent. Ben has previously responded about the pub/hotel that in the then economic climate (talking a few years ago now) he did not think it was viable anymore. From memory it was only planned to be a 12 bedroom hotel. It would be difficult to make that viable when compared to much larger budget hotels that have now gone up around the town.

Reading todays Scottish papers it appears that safe standing will be allowed for Celtic for next season, I wonder if this idea will filter through to our FA, and how this would effect how grounds within the English FA's controls could be re designed, should a club need to expand as it goes up the leagues, so instead of going all seater and reducing the capacity on a drastic scale, to go to a safe standing format what would the difference be. Although I think the depth of the stands at the Pirelli would limit most options.

We're probably all getting carried away (me included) as we haven't done it yet. Still, it's fun to look at these options just in case ?. Out of interest, should we go up, how would fans feel about giving up the pop side to away fans instead of behind the goal? Me personally, it would p##$ me right off, not a fan of watching games from behind the goal & we would effectively make the Pirelli a home ground for visiting teams. I pray we don't go down this route....

Had a chat with a mate about this the other night. His view was the most sensible I have heard on the subject - do nothing to the ground and don't change anything. IF we go into the championship, how many seasons will we be there for?
Edit: well we could fix the PA I suppose.

On the subject of home crowds; if I'm not mistaken, the Wigan and Gillingham matches were the first time ever that we have had back-to-back 5,000+ attendances.

I really do think that slow & steady growth is warranted, our present day attendance is a little low for our ever expanding club. Perhaps filling in the away end corners in to start with? ................... COME...ON...YOU....BREWERS.........

"apparently" the first expansion will be the away terrace in some way. No plans to fill in corners I have heard. Away supporters can have an extra bank of seats and the east part of the Popside, more revenue for the club, unless we sell them as season tickets. No, they can't have the whole Popside.

Why would you give away fans more seats when we regularly sell them out for home fans?
There is also no need to give up any part of the Popside, they get 1900 or so tickets at the moment, that will have to be enough for now. After all it is more than a quarter of capacity.

Away fans don't want seats, they stand, seen the Prem and Championship games, seats provided and never used.

It's about revenue for the club. We should aim to fill the ground. If Burton will not support the club then seven days before kickoff (or so) we should offer the clubs that will bring fans in numbers, and have already sold their allocation, the option to buy the remainder of the 6912 minus the number seats and terrace tickets already sold, except for the west terrace obviously. That might wake the locals up!
Edit: I have had a u-turn on this from earlier posts. I used to say don't allow more away fans than us but it is so frustrating to see 1500+ unsold tickets for big games like Wigan and Gillingham over the past weeks. Those games should have been heaving!

Not for me, 1900 away fans is sufficient currently in the Championship.
As I said we regularly sell out the seats, have done for a while, why would you give out more to away fans to deprive Burton fans?
As for the Popside, any separation would lead to a lower capacity (sterile area needed) and aggravation for getting in and out and alongside the sterile area.
Away allocations in the Championship are typically about 3,000, just under 2,000 is not that shabby.
If we get there and if we stabilise, we can expand to increase the away revenue, no need yet.

Do you mean like after a match when the Popside fans are walking toward Derby Road and the away fans are walking toward the parking lot? Or when away supporters ask for more tickets and we give them an extra block of seats next to our fans? Or when Port Vale brought loads of fans and we gave them the east end of the Popside? HaHaHaHaHa...!!

Now go blub blub to someone who actually cares what you think.

6,912 is the most likely number through the turnstiles for most home matches I think next season.
