I think it is fair to say the "reliable fan" message is coblers. The same things were being said at Conference and league 2 levels.

Under current rules a club has until the beginning of their 4th season in the Championship to convert to all seater. That could mean 3 seasons plus 3 months or 10 seasons plus 3 months, or longer. Hopefully the rail seating scheme being tested in Europe now will be adopted in two years and we will still have standing terraces with the option to sit. Those seeking to allow new standing arrangements at English grounds – led by the Football Supporters’ Federation – favour the building of new sections of rail seating, rather than a return to old terraces. Rail seating, as used in many German grounds, means fold-down seats with metal rails on top. These allow supporters the option of sitting down should they want to, or being able to stand with more security than they have now. Bristol City FC has become the first UK club to install “safe standing” rail seats at their stadium. Read more at www.bcfc.co.uk/news/article/20140212-safestanding-1354602.aspx#272oDtSEYRszoKHV.99

If we've got to move to all seater then there's no point making the away terrace bigger in meantime
Making it bigger and all seats wouldn't be a bad idea as it would allow us to charge away fans more as well to watch us from seats
And give us more seats for the home fans at same time
Can we get enough seats behind the goal though?

If the current east terrace (or any terrace) was changed to seats we would lose quite a bit of capacity though.

I think it was around 400 when Nigel first arrived and from memory 776 at his first game. I was one of those 776, as I'm sure you were Mikey. Me too ! I have not heard any rumours regarding next season. My own position would be that I don't want to go to the sheep arena or whatever it is called these days to watch Albion play unless we are the away team in a championship fixture. The best option would be to enlarge the away end( both cost and time effective) as this would not only increase the away support but also free up extra seating for home fans.

Build a 4,000 seater away end there and when opposition don't have many fans we could use some of those seats as well. If it was 2 tier even better.as easier to keep apart.
Would take our capacity upto 9,000 ish and cope with almost all away fans needs in Championship and give us options for more home fans as well in unlikely event they are needed.
Focus on a good all seater that end for now

The stories and rumour that I have been told are that the foundations are in place to build the 3 terraces upwards but there would be nothing done above the current seated stand. ?? And that the equipment has been scheduled to build the away end up, if we go up. ?? All 4 stands have foundations in and plans to double the heights as far as I know. On reflection, I think doing nothing is a little too short sighted. Doubling the height of the away end, and making that all seater would be a sensible approach, as it will also free up much needed seats in the main stands, as the whole of it can be home fans

The away terrace holds 1400 now, I wonder how many seats it would hold? I'm thinking 800? But it could be more, I have no idea. Let's say it is 800, if we doubled it in size with seats that would mean 1600 which is less than current away capacity. We may still have to give some of them the 400 seats in the main stand.

If away end couldn't be completed in time for start of season we would still have a 5,700 capacity without it and maybe have to move a few fans temporarily at start of season til all ready to go
If the club gets promoted and the fans want us to progress and take advantage then they have to put up with a few short term inconveniences for long term good.

Ground guide has our east terrace at 1400? I see what you mean about the 3000 seats though. The Valley ground is about the same width as the Pirelli as well. So would probably only have to build up and back to the current fence/turnstiles. You might even fit a big screen in the centre at the top.

It would be better all round if the away end was all seater and increased in capacity.
We would increase revenue for requiring the away fans to pay seat prices and we could sell more home seats, because as said elsewhere, we regularly sell out the seats now.
It would also stop the awkward sharing arrangements currently in the seats.
One for the future I guess.

Just wondering why it is awkward at present? I had not heard of any situations?

Wouldn't sit easy with me seeing the away end having a bigger terrace available to them even though quite a few in the championship could easily fill it doubled, I'd be inclined to have more seats in the main stand however surely that's a more expensive option short term. Don't think anything will be thought until 2 seasons at least in the championship. Wouldn't be great financially making the stadium bigger to accommodate Championship teams for to go back down again quickly. I'm sure the management team will make the right decision when it comes to...whatever that maybe, In the meantime put the prices of tickets and pints up for them

I still look at the footings that were put in place opposite the North stand and wonder if that/they will ever get finished. We could have had a bigger car park.

I think the plan was to build a hotel/pub there, was it not? I'm probably wrong but I had heard that a number of years ago. It would be a great spot for a fans clubhouse as well. But is the new training facilty/4G pitch not going in there? I assumed it was but again ??
