Severe weather warnings for the North West issued by the Met office this morning, seems like for the other side of the Pennines, Lancashire and further North. That pitch inspection may be too early, obviously another one will be needed if the heavy rains reach that part of Yorkshire. Take care everyone if you are up there today.

Even if we have further pitch inspections I'm reading about a lot of localised flooding. Can people get to and from the game safely?

Matches at Blackburn, Wigan, Blackpool, Rochdale, Accrington, Morecambe, Bury all off. It's not looking good up in that part of the country.

Disappointing but it sounds like the right call. Also the early decision was a welcome one as well. Thankfully no repeat of the Accrington fiasco last season.

A shame, but better the decision is made now. A good few matches are falling to the weather North of country.

Fairly early I'd hope. I'm sure Mr. Kettle will handle the situation in his usual professional fashion. And so he did.

^^^^ I don't think it was a hard decision, look at all matches say North of Manchester roughly, all off. Given the forecast for later I think it's a better to be safe than sorry decision, quite rightly.

Actually postponement is good for us, don't have to play 2 games in 50 hours.

Why was it left until 10.45 to call the game off? it has been obvious for a couple of days what was in store weather wise. As of yesterday afternoon people anywhere north west of Leeds were being advised not to make journeys unless necessary. I had some accommodation booked up that area for tonight and they phoned yesterday afternoon to say that roads were being closed nearby and we may not be able to get to them. was the ref waiting incase there was a sudden heatwave? Its a shame it would have been a great game with a big crowd.

Well we're joint top with a game in hand over the play offs. Eases our congestion a little bit. Would have been better for the game on the 28th to be postponed from a fixture point of view

Indeed it is... Purely from a congestion point of view. I'm going to the game so don't want postponement!

Maybe all those years of him being a blithering idiot were just a facade. We're now seeing the real Kettle. The man behind the whistle. Theres a biopic in there somewhere. "50 Shades Of Kettle" or would that be too steamy?
