Clough and Crosby are a package - you take Nigel and you get Gary too. That's how it works. A bit like Clough and Taylor, if you like. And I don't mean Martin Taylor. Although he normally works with Clough too!

Rumour is Gareth Ainsworth has been approached. If true - maybe an indication that Nigel may be difficult to get. Particularly if the hope for a quick appointment is correct.

I liked Ainsworth as a player, scored a screamer here several years ago from 30-35 yards, and he has done ok as manager there. And he could be the entertainment at the Xmas party! m.youtube.com/watch?v=JFshOeIiMEgm.youtube.com/watch?v=rq24TzYPuJc

Clough, yes, Crosby definitely not. Read he would jump at the chance of managing Forest with Cloughie if it came along, please not here Nige. Why would you not want Gary ? Apparently he got some of the players backs up when at Burton, arrogant. Remember him having a right set to at Tamworth, seemed like he wanted to pick a fight with everyone at that match. We were behind the dug out that match when he kicked off. It's OK being passionate about your players/team he seemed a bit OTT with it.

I would welcome NC back but I would like him to change his backroom staff. I do think his loyalty to the likes of Garner, Taylor and his brother held him back in the eyes of many at Derby and Sheffield. Maybe undeservedly, I don't know. Has Andy Garner got any coaching badges ? has Taylor ? Why people have a dislike for Crosby who was a great player and at the highest level, I've never understood.

If somehow we could persuade him (more for the challenge than the money) then one way to get promoted short term then take time on long term appointment would be to ask Warnock to finish the job this season
I doubt we will go that route but he is as good as anyone in Britain at taking teams up
I guess we could offer low basic but a big bonus for promotion which would more than pay for itself with the extra TV income

I know its an unlikely for Neil Warnock to return but he is still friends with Ben and has worked for him before. I really liked him as a player and manager here. Incidentally the glowing tribute Jimmy paid of Ben spoke volumes as did the fact that he said he would be friends for life or words to that effect.

Neil Warnock is another I would give a go with, as said initially to see the season out then, who knows? Where does he reside? May not want to travel???

I believe Warnock has a farm down in the South West so not ideal, maybe he can take the Yeovil job,if he's desperate to continue managing.

Duffield now, his dad lived at Allestree.
Yep that would be a long old haul for NW. Imagine going home after playing somewhere like Fleetwood/Blackpool, at least we've done them.

Nigel has his own inimitable style, just like his dad did too. But he can spot a player, is astute tactically, likes to play football on the ground and would usually want to play with 2 up top, served by 2 quick wide players. He is a thorough professional, who knows the game at this level who would now benefit greatly from St George's Park and all it offers - we would be lucky to get him frankly. Excellent point that. Cloughie never had the benefit of using the superb facilities at St George's Park when he was here previously. It's always cited as being one of the reasons why we've fared so well. . Indeed he didn't . I can remember taking the kids over to Eton park rec to watch him training the squad !,,

Nigel does live in Duffield so very handy indeed, plus he can come back to the one club that has ever appreciated his abilities. Brian actually lived in Quarndon during his heyday and moved later in life to Darley Abbey.
