A disappointing performance for me - was hoping for much better. Ilkeston were the better side and thoroughly deserved it. I thought they had some outstanding young players.

Very disappointed. After all our problems conceding goals, we concede 3 to a team 3 levels below us. The goalkeeper was at fault for the first, and our closing down from midfield looked all too familiar with last season. In other words back off until the opposition are into our half. This was a luxury Ilkeston didn't afford us, and thoroughly deserved the win. I think I will have to give up on going to pre-season friendlies, they just depress me.

Worrying thing was Ilkeston were always a threat in the air against our back line and caused problems throughout. I was also bothered that Lee Bell wasn't there and hope he has not taken his bat and ball home because it was a 1 year deal. We need him.

Last word in this I thought Ryan Wilson and Jack Watts were superb for Ilkeston - they're the sort of hungry young players we should be wanting to snap up.

we seem to have a lot of players who are getting injured very easily, for me either injuries are being used as a reason players are not there for other reasons, or we have a very fragile bunch of guys

Does anyone know where Richards was?

We lost this game mainly due to an almost invisible midfield. Ilkeston dominated, and were allowed to build from the back, with just a striker who was totally outnumbered making any challenges in their half of the field.

I listened to Nigel Clough's interview at the weekend and he spoke about looking at the number of appearances being important when he is making a decision to sign someone. I'm not sure that our lot actually want to be out there playing enough. I nearly said 'out there playing badly enough' - but we have a few of them too!!

Agree with whoever it was that said they're done with pre-season matches. Waste of time and money. Ok, yes, I know it's only preseason and in many ways it doesn't matter that we lost last night BUT for me the signs were very worrying even in a preseason game.
We spoke about Ross Atkins having some competition this year. Doesn't look like it I'm afraid. New lad bitch slapped the ball into he net for their first goal, is too small and was also glued to his line much like Mr Atkins apart from literally 1 or 2 crosses which he came for.
Yussuf, well, words fail me. I don't know why we kept him. I doubt he would get a game for Ilkeston - and I mean that. Simply cannot strike the ball cleanly.
Phillips the only one to really come out with any credit. Nicely taken goal and tackled like it was the FA cup final, nicking possession back quite a few times. The rest, pretty hopeless.

I went to the game really fired up and hopeful - but after the first 15 minutes, it just seemed very much same old, same old. I had hoped that Kevin Summerfield would have the nous and tactical awareness to make a difference but not on last nights showing. Today I have a similar feeling to last year when we lost so heavily at Tamworth.

Ilkeston were the better team all over the pitch. Only Jimmy Phillips really impressed for The Brewers. I wish I had not made the journey but there you go - it's only a friendly.

Jimmy Philips was our best player, although when Mags came on for him, Mags then became our best player. Neither player had a lot of competition for this accolade though.
