Could it have something to do with league rules, or security/policing wanting the numbers as early as possible? But anyone can pick up the phone and order a ticket. Obviously no, no and of course, but just because Wonga can lend me money at 400+% doesn't make it right if I choose not to take up their offer.

I think you will find there are various reasons, those that peacock has indicated plus staffing levels, programme printing, stock for the tea bars, bars etc etc, much more to it than what you first imagine. Exactly, but there will always be one or two who, instead of seeing the reality of a situation, will look for something to moan about.

I think you will find there are various reasons, those that peacock has indicated plus staffing levels, programme printing, stock for the tea bars, bars etc etc, much more to it than what you first imagine. I think we've had refreshments, programmes and staff for many years.........and well attended games following poorly attended games and vice- versa. Occasionally, very occasionally, too, we've had all-ticket games or buy-your-ticket-to-guarantee-entry games.......usually if we think a capacity crowd is likely.........but I've never known a price differential as great as this for ticket-entry compared to on-the-night-entry....... Not everyone can buy a ticket in advance, for all kinds of reasons - work and home commitments might mean some supporters only know they can make the match at the last minute, on the night of the game......if the club thinks these supporters will not be detered from attending the game by charging them double the entry fee others have paid, I suggest they are wrong and that they will lose some support and revenue by doing so..............I hope therefore that the reasons the club is doing this are all born of necessity and absolutely unavoidable ones........but no-one's come up with anything that's necessary and unavoidable so far..........

£9 is a big difference I must admit, I don't really know the reasons, lets face it the system is new, mistakes will be made but usually the club get it right given a bit of time.

What a great day that was, the atmosphere in the Wetmore Whistle full of 'boro" supporters was electric! But that was on a sunny afternoon I believe?

David Nugent: Hopefully I Can Start Banging The Goals In Posted: Mon 24 Aug 2015 Author: MFC image: www.mfc.co.uk/cms_images/match/nugentbristol-43543-2638967_478x359.jpgStriker looks towards Burton clash... David Nugent says Boro will be looking to return to action with a positive result at Burton Albion in the Capital One Cup on Tuesday. The summer signing put Saturday’s defeat at the hands of Bristol City down to being ‘one of those days’ as the visitors clung on to a first half goal to take a 1-0 win away from the Riverside. Boro dominated possession and had a flurry of chances to level the score but Ben Hamer in the Bristol goal was on top form to keep out any potent threat from the home side. “It was a frustrating afternoon, we huffed and puffed but it just wouldn’t go in,” said Nugent. “Ben Hamer in goal had a worldie and made three brilliant saves and we just couldn’t get past him. “It was one of those days when we could still be playing now and still be 1-0 down. So we’ve got to look at the positives, we played some good stuff but couldn’t get it in the back of the net. “We move on to Tuesday and hopefully get a positive result. It was a frustrating day for myself as well, I didn’t really have any clear cut chances. “They had three big centre halves who wanted to come through the back of me and take me out. I thought I stood up to them and we tried our best and it just wasn’t to be, but I’m sure we’ll put things right on Tuesday.” Tuesday sees Aitor Karanka’s side head for Burton in the second round of the Capital One Cup and Nugent is hoping the Head Coach will stick with him as the striker aims to open up his scoring account with Boro. “It was pleasing to get the nod,” he said. “Kike has scored three in three in the league but the gaffer made a choice and thought I could run in behind and cause them trouble. “It wasn’t to be but hopefully now we can recoup. We’ve got tricky away tie in the cup which we want to win and we’ve got to give the lads as bit of confidence going in to Sheffield Wednesday away. “I’ve enjoyed my two weeks here. I missed out in the Derby game with a bit of a niggling injury but I’m back fit now so hopefully I can get match fit and start banging the goals in. “I want to play every single game. I’ve come here to play and score goals so let’s hope the gaffer has faith in myself and Kike and we can produce the goals to get us into the Premier League.” Read more at www.mfc.co.uk/news/article/2014/boro-david-nugent-sky-bet-championship-2642636.aspx#CoLR7YIJ8270SsrP.99

Nice interview with Tony Bentley via blog.. www.borobrickroad.co.uk/boro-match-talk-with-burton-albion-fan/?Boro match talk with Burton Albion fan Posted on August 24, 2015 Image of Burton Albion against Middlesbrough Following the disappointment from the league defeat to Bristol City at the weekend, Boro now turn their attention to the midweek trip to Burton Albion in the League Cup. Boro progressed through to the Second Round of the Capital One Cup after a 3-1 win away at Oldham Athletic. The journey to the Pirelli Stadium will see Boro reunited with former striker Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink who’s Burton team knocked out Championship side Bolton Wanderers in Round One. In a new series for Follow The Boro Brick Road this season, we are asking opposition fans to answer questions about their team and also about the mighty Boro. We invited Burton Albion fan, Tony Bentley to share his thoughts ahead of the match. Tony is a longstanding Burton Albion fan who is also Brewers’ Match Summariser for BBC Radio Derby. Here’s what he had to say. Name of opposition fan: Tony Bentley (@brewerstony) How long have you been supporting Burton Albion? I first started watching Burton Albion back in 1984. My first ever game was an FA Cup 4th Qualifying Round replay against Wycombe Wanderers. The Brewers won 2-1 in front of over 3,000 fans and they went on the beat Staines Town and Aldershot Town, before drawing First Division (as it was then) Leicester City at home in the 3rd Round. It was a good season to start watching them and I’ve been following them ever since, including providing match summaries for BBC Radio Derby match day commentaries since their promotion to the Football League in 2009. What’s been your favourite Burton Albion moment to-date? I think it has to be last season, winning the League 2 title at Cambridge United on the final day of the season. Burton had secured promotion two weeks earlier but needed to match Shrewsbury Town’s result on the final day to win the title. Burton had their goalkeeper off midway through the second half and fell behind to the resultant penalty. The 10 men pushed on and scored twice more to secure the win and ultimately the title to take their place in League 1 for the first time in their history. Image of Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink Burton Albion manager Following promotion from League 2, can Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink take Burton Albion into the Championship? This is only Burton’s 7th season as a Football League club, so to most long-standing fans this is all something the fans never believed would happen. Yet Burton are a very well run and profitable club who own their own stadium and are debt free. Jimmy inherited a good set of players and got even more out of them to win the League Two title. He has strengthened the depth of the squad in the summer to give a lot more options. It would be a very big ask to get promoted to the Championship given the fact there are 8 former Premier League sides in League One, but Burton just have to use the examples of Bournemouth and Yeovil as smaller clubs who have achieved that goal. Which Burton Albion players should Boro keep a close eye on? I think there could well be a lot of changes to the side which beat Peterborough United on Saturday, as the Brewers manager described the performance as “rubbish” to the media after the game. Therefore he may give current Luxembourg international Aurelien Joachim his first start after a couple of substitute appearances. Although playing for a weak nation, Joachim has performed well on the international stage with goals, and could well be shrewd signing for the Brewers. Another one could be last season’s top scorer Lucas Akins. He’s been on the bench the last couple of games but is very strong and powerful for a winger and should earn a recall for this game. Image of David Nugent Middlesbrough striker If you could have two Boro players in the Burton Albion team, which two would you choose and why? I’ve always been impressed by your new signing David Nugent whenever I’ve seen him play. I’ve also picked him because he was a second half substitute for Leicester City three years ago, when Burton beat the Foxes 4-2 at the same stage of the Capital One Cup. I’ll also go for the unfortunately injured Alex Baptiste who had a spell one loan at Burton when he was a youngster at Mansfield Town. What’s your score prediction for Burton Albion vs Middlesbrough? I’ll go for a 1-1 draw, with Burton to win on penalties. Many thanks to Tony for sharing his thoughts ahead of the game. We wish Burton Albion all the best for the rest of the season. Up the Boro #UTB

Guess the lineup...? Anyone who gets it right gets a cookie!
I suspect there'll be c. 7 changes from the weekend...
Our boys need a rest and I fear it may be a throwaway thrashing tomorrow to focus on the league.

No throwaway thrashing. The team will be looking to win. The odds are against us doing so but there is no point ever in conceding a match before it is played. Use the squad for sure, but they are all in the squad because they can play in the first 11 when they need to. I think we will lose, but not by much. I hope the players make me eat my words.

Same (ish) team as wot played at Bolton. I'll go for a highly entertaining game that goes all the way to penalties. Personally I hope we go through.

I guess a similar team/performance to what we had vs Bolton would do.
Penalties would be good, or any result where we get through! I'd love a big PL team to come to the Pirelli. QPR were good last year, but a top 4 team would be great.

Financial constraints means I'm not going to any cup matches this season, and the league has more importance to me. I guess it's true of the management teams opinion too, the league that is. Hope I miss a cracker and it ends 5-5 after extra time and goes 5-4 to the Brewers on penalties, that would be some game and well worth a tenner.
I'll eat my words later.

I've got a girls' meal tonight... dreadful timing! so won't be going but am going to smuggle the iPad into the pub! From the internet... Boro's Burton Tester By Robert NicholsTuesday 25 Aug 2015 13:13:00 www.fansonline.net/middlesbrough/article.php?id=4458 Boro face a really stiff test tonight with an away cup tie at Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink's Burton Albion. Having fallen to a home defeat on Saturday to Bristol City the last thing we want is to slip up on a banana skin in the cup. Boro old boy Jimmy Floyd will have plenty of motivation to underline his credentials as an up and coming young manager. After winning promotion from League Two last season no one will treat the visit to the Pirelli Stadium stadium lightly. 7.45pm kick off. Boro cruised through the 1st round cup tie with an impressive 3-1 victory over Oldham. It was almost the same scoreline on the same ground, that saw us launch our cup campaign last season. It was a cup run eventually only halted by an epic penalty shoot out at Anfield that in many ways galvinside the club and set us on our road to Wembley. When you add to that an even more impressive FA Cup run that saw us defeat Man City away, there is no doubting that cups are very important to Aitor Karanka's Boro. We will certainly be treating the competition with the greatest respect. In fact we are one of the few Championship clubs still in the Capital One Cup. But progress will be much more difficult this evening. Remember Burton already have recent history on their side, having defeated Tony Mowbray's team 2-1 in the 3rd Round of the FA Cup. I still recall that game with a sense of astonishment. We dominated from 1st minute to last 5 minutes only to pay the ultimate price for not adding to our slender one goal lead by shipping two goals in the dying embers of the game. They were Burton's only efforts on target all match but they did massive damage. All eyes will be on the Boro team tonight. Mass changes on Saturday brought waves of criticism in the direction of the Boro management. Some of it verging on hysteria. There has been a lot of speculation surrounding the future of winger Albert Adomah's future, that there was more to his exclusion from the starting line up on Saturday that he was tired after playing every game. Remember, he also started back late this pre season after getting extra time to recover from international duties. Fingers crossed he is still a Boro player at the end of the window. Burton beat Bolton Wanderers in the First Round, a club Boro also dispatched in style at the Riverside. The Brewers also like to rotate players, patricularly in the cups. Manager Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink made big changes in the last round bringing in Anthony O'Connor, Aurelien Joachim, Matty Palmer, Callum Reilly and Calum Butcher against Bolton. It was a policy that served the club well in getting promotion from League Two last season. Jimmy Floyd certainly made his mark at Boro as a player. His headed goal away at Roma has to rank as one of the greatest goals I have ever witnessed as a Boro fan. Not just for the execution but what it meant in terms of the history of our club. The enormity of that achievement, that we beat the team setting new records at the top of the Italian League, is often overlooked compared to the comeback kings in later rounds. Jimmy's goal came from an incredible assist by one Stewart Downing. Now back at the Boro, if involved tonight it would be a good opportunity for the former England man to start to impose himself and really have an impact. It is likely to be another epic cup night tonight but I would tip Boro to be professional and not follow in the wake of all the 1st Round Championship casualties. Come On Boro. There will be a minute's silence before tonight's game to give fans a chance to pay their respects to those killed in the Shoreham Airshow disaster, including young Welling United footballers, Matthew Grimstone and Jacob Schilt.
